  1. Thistle is a fortunate and much adored girl ( and gorgeous) :) I hope the strategy you are using does all that you wish . I also hope that she stays safe :) There is a poster called Snook , who has the amazing JUSTICE dog . Search for her posts , as Justice , an older fellow has his demons too ... and thanks to his amazing 'mum' enjoys life to the full .
  2. just cut back his serving by a third and see if that helps :)
  3. ..and who says black dogs are dull and unappealing??? :D
  4. No idea of temperament - but who needs it when there are absolutely GORGEOUS photos to be seen ???
  5. :) His look is pretty warming , I admit .... and it's possibly why he gets away with things ...
  6. You might find these interesting reading :) CLICK HERE CLICK HERE CLICK HERE
  7. Hi . A couple of things - "cage" /crate training does NOT mean pup stays inside a crate for 7 hrs at a time .. In a smallish room , a six month old would possibly be bored - so pee pads are certainly a good toy :) How did you first toilet train her ? Did you use rewards ? have you taught her a particular place and/or word that she has now 'forgotten'? Has she been to the vet in case she has an infection? if she is not speyed, there IS a possibility she may be coming in season for the first time .... bitches , under the influence of hormones, pee everywhere to 'advertise' if she is spending all day in a small room ..and then all night .. she possibly is not learning to toilet well away from her bed & food .... she has learned to toilet indoors now ... I suggest getting her vet checked if you haven't - then we can help you with her training :) " i do not have all day to sit and watch her to train her " You may have to make the time - at least on a couple of days . She cannot learn what YOU want , without a lot of help from you ;)
  8. thanks to D O L - goofy Don has new gear :)
  9. F10 is probably the ONLY one which will kill anything nasty . lordy - EVERYTHING is carcinogenic if used/imbibed for long enough. Why then do breeders/vets /dog owners use this so much ? yes, it has been tested on rats/mice, and found to be carcinogenic AT HIGH LEVELS . there are also these to be read ... CLICK CLICK which is where THIS comes from - Carcinogenicity, mutagenicity and toxicity for reproduction : Based on data for the raw materials, no carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxicity forreproduction is predicted
  10. :) LOL @ the change from chiX to lab!! yes-- take your time , enjoy "window shopping" , and reading some of the info from D O L , like this THREAD HERE
  11. Definitely save any emails /paperwork /ans machine messages . Contact the Dept of Fair Trade. I am so sorry The "breeder" certainly does not sound an ethical and /or careful breeder.... and has caused much grief to your family . AND please buy some F10 disinfectant (from vet) ... and thoroughly wash /spray everywhere puppy has been -- throw away bedding /toys ...and be sure to use disinfectant where pups toileted . This is to help protect the next puppy . if/when you get a new puppy .. you can do so with 'our' D O L help , and we can guide you in your search for a healthy puppy . even after disinfecting - you will now need to avoid pups in your yard /house for several months to avoid them getting ill as well. best of luck in your dealings with this breeder .
  12. perhaps they just wanted to ask, and then do their own thing?I HOPE it's that way - and not bad news
  13. I do hope this time that you take a step back ... research the dog you will adopt, and let your head overrule your heart . Difficult thing to do !! I would also STRONGLY suggest that you consider adopting a dog /pup who has been in foster care :) One who has been fostered will have been monitored and will have a recent history ! Their likes/dislikes/ bad habits will be known- and you can be sure that they are OK indoors, etc .Continue your research ..thump the man of the house and tell him to NOT fall for the first set of big brown eyes and long lashes that blink at him ;) oh - your question - puppies of unknown, BYB breeding may well be 100% wonderful :) They may also have lord knows what problems ..... I wouldn't do it .
  14. a couple of suggestions ? do LOTS of practice with food ..access to pats & cuddles where he needs to really turn his head & use his good eye - so he gets used to doing that more .. also, consider a "halo" :) - or D I Y ;) click HERE
  15. dogs don't seem to worry too much about losing an eye ..it is most often less painful than before :) As to a prosthetic - never heard of /seen it done . I doubt it would provide protection ... perhaps it would also CAUSE injury by damaging adjacent tissue?
  16. if he is currently fine - then why give him the liver at all? It's not worth it ;) maybe dry some chicken,/skin and cut it in tiny pieces?:)
  17. muzzles are the best bet ... for around 2 years after Hamlet ate rubbish and needed surgery he wore a muzzle when out & about - I did NOT want a repeat .
  18. Sounds like just her personality :)
  19. When did this become obvious?
  20. Is this any help ?CLICK Cross breed puppies are often 'accidents' . They can also be the result of someone wanting cash ..so they mate trixie and toby next door, and sell the pups. Then there are the establishments who produce crossbreeds in large numbers- driven by looks ..and purely for income .
  21. ..and you may want to use something like this - just in case :) CLICK HERE. Hope the vet visit will result in some assistance .
