  1. How old is your dog ? My guess is she will need to be mature, very fit, be free of HD etc , and have conditioning before you actually buy a backpack . to train her with ? Sounds a good adventure :)
  2. Excellent :) ..and it's good exercise!
  3. Thanks, Cha .. it may help folks too, who worry about their pup looking upset . of course they're upset - they have been TOLD . It doesn't last :)
  4. yep - they def. need early lessons...Good ol' Zeddy . I posted this elsewhere , and was roundly scolded for introducing pups to dogs in a way in which pups were set up to fail Nooo..NOT failing - LEARNING :) in the best way .
  5. Their granma , Caillie was rangy/tall ....their mum is built that way as well . Dad, Wags is a muscleman , compact ...medium size . Jeff seems to be the most like him ..including curled over tail
  6. Some of our gang yesterday .8 wk old youngsters learning the finer points of why one should NOT annoy the Auntie who does not enjoy pup company .I was hoping the body language was visible - so you can maybe see it in your own dogs/pups . Auntie stood stiffly ..tail raising .She then lifted her lips ..then growled ..then growled louder and snapped the air with a "GRUFF" sound ... it worked ..and the nuisances couldn't get away fast enough. this is the HUGE benefit of having puppies with Mum /other relatives as babies - so they DO learn manners , and get to understand dog language Note the red pup..sensing some sort of excitement ..and trotting in to join the fray ...then learning her mistake REALLY fast .
  7. neither are 100% . His right eye is a bit light-sensitive , and took extra time to grow .he has never bumped into anything ..follows movement well, and is quite independent :) he also has a thing where he hears a whistle/his name ...and if he is out of sight - will run furiously in the opposite direction We have only ever had one other with so much white - he was put down due to micro opthalmia As Puddenhead is 'damaged' goods - he will probably be staying here ..bother ..... he needs to grow into those feet ...and my hope is that he grows to the size and temperament of his dear grandma - Caillie .
  8. Merle has discovered leap control !! and the clown? well, elegance is not his thing ;)
  9. oh That's easy enough - google the kennel name .."joe blow's fluffy pups" or whatever . Ask for their kennel club rego number ..and yes, contact the state's Pom club. Ask if the breeders have a copy of the parent's health test results ..
  10. there aren't many dogs who don't like the boss :)
  11. In 50 yrs of feeding bones .. the odd bit of canine constipation is all I have to record ...
  12. Do you have a verandah /deck? Make a secure pen for her in an area which can be disinfected with bleach, or F10 (pet stores/vets ) Agree to taking her in the car /carrying her around ..she can not live in a house for the next few months , and learn about things like sky/noise/cars/buildings, etc :) At least book her in to puppy classes - :) :)
  13. :) interesting storyline :) Thankyou. My favourite is the verandah scene :)
  14. two months ago ? Pls phone your vet. two months is the time where there could be a phantom 'whelping' ..or a real one, or a uterine infection . The last one can be life threatening - best to be safe .
  15. ..and the owner has not much idea .... she's practicing on me with her phone, for heaven's sake!! poor Pudden LOL my brother reckons a remote controlled helicopter dog would be perfect!! poor Pudden needs to work out which track to take .... But mostly, he needs to sleep safe ...
  16. :) they are pretty cute ... and of course they're smart .... ;) Actually they do respond to their names ..they've never been called puppy ..from day dot, each has had a name ..used whenever pup was touched/picked up /played with ..and it's fun watching who has listened ;)
  17. Roova - that's Neddles - and she's sharp and plucky as !
  18. 7 weeks today ...and no need to wake up Jeff ( middle right) .he's hardly ever still!! ;)
  19. It's such a shock to the system when you have to pick things up off the kitchen floor for yourself :) ermm, yep! ;)
  20. thankyou ... as you all know , it's the little habits that catch us ;) Holding the door open so the old dog doesn't get banged on the way in putting aside a couple of toast crusts filling the shallow waterbowl throwing left over 'bits' under the kitchen table ..... I'm sure she is now so much happier though . :)
