Instinct is what makes predators kill - simple . it is a natural behaviour . Most people have forgotten that dogs/cats are PREDATORS . It is up the human owners to manage situations as best they can if they do not want to see their pets kill things . Cats and dogs need to have behaviour modified/controlled by keeping enclosed etc . I applaud Scottie on his recall :) :) that is a great effort..and IS certainly to be proud of.

yes - it would be great if he can see someone sooner to help get relief .. and sars - I have certainly been thru this - more times than I care to remember and it hurts .

Please do not leave him another 48 hrs. He is in pain and no longer eating. Sars- I'm sorry to say - I agree . he is very tired and in pain, and shutting down because of it - letting him stay this way until Thursday is very sad

Smoke & Don ???? They are both in the bad books for zipping off chasing things like, at WARP speed. They are peas in a pod, sadly ... Trouble is not allowed to see the pups face to face - just through wire - she just gruffs at them ...

" I am not ready to let him go yet. He is a beautiful dog and I want to try everything first." I understand that , but sometimes that is not in our pet's best interests..if it drags on with no drastic relief ... he is a lucky boy, and I know you love him lots .

Sight , of course is not 100% .. responds well to movement at a distance ..but can also hunt ants etc close up :) His right eye was not quite normal when it opened , but has improved a lot! It makes me sad ..if he has his back turned ..and is walking away when I call - the ears prick up ..and he bolts ......... directly away from me ..then gets lost & confused. he does not misinterpret sounds - knows food wrapping /kibble in jug /a whistle/his name /a car door ..knows exactly what each represents ... he is a good advertisement for the double merle gene

Not sure how I will manage this .. Here's an idea what my "speshal" boy is up against . While he hears well - the locator doesn't work accurately a lot of the timeIt can be troublesome ..and will probably take a lot of work to use signs now ,instead of sound ... the worry is calling him away from danger!! In this case, I waited til he looked at me, then started making sounds ....

Rebanne said it - take a step back . Do his good minutes still outweigh the bad ? is he happy - or is he 'going thru the motions' I knew with our old Gert recently ... that morning, the fun had left her eyes - just like that . She was just "there" .. but with no spark . Still walking /eating a little . She was helped over the bridge that day . You will perceive things differently ...

aahh - thank the powers for solid friends . waggy is good - her poor tummy must feel so sore
