  1. the injection is not an 'immunisation', like the needles for parvo etc :) It is an injection of a chemical which kills heartworm larvae before they can grow and migrate to the dog's heart .....
  2. But there's so many numbers! I think it's going to be Canon. G3X probably. (was going to be G7 X) Honestly, the Powershot G3 X is sounding really good, though someone did a review and said that it's 'slow' and 'lacklustre' but that's still going to be better than my current one so it's possible I wouldn't actually have noticed. It's hard to tell if the reviews are picking up issues that would be noticed by an expert rather than someone like me who is always going to just muddle through. Think my old one is deteriorating. There's a sort of blue-ness to things. WOW!!!!!!!!
  3. :) Charcoal does /can make poo green , yes.
  4. unfortunately , brain lesions can be a cause of sudden aggression- I've seen this personally . Hope for a good result :hugz:
  5. This is just my opinion .. To properly feed a 'prey' model meat diet ..he needs stuff like bone / kidneys/liver/tripe/brains /fish... a good mixture. What he is getting now .. I presume is just meat? Just meat /muscle meat , is not a complete diet . yes, you can add veges ..but only a small amount .. ..and give him cold whole raw carrots & apples to chew :) Try him with veges made into a pulp .. beans/carrot/pumpkin... a couple tablespoons/teaspoons, depending on size of dog on some meat /mixed with a bit of minced heart or sardines in oil :) To read a LOT more on how to successfully feed a balanced raw/natural diet ... look at the following. 6. Haven't been on forum for a while but I used to post my woes about Jasper, silver toy poodle, constantly licking feet and removing all hair due to ???? Who would know. Tried many different foods. Creams .. Don't use chemicals in the house. Yard fairly small and grass. Fenced off garden so he couldn't run through. Walked him on path not grass. Then after so much frustration , changed his diet , no kibble. Full of additives. He eats fresh chicken and some veg. But. For past 12 months he's had 1/2 prednisone every 3 rd day. Not touched his feet until this December I put frontline plus on. 2 days later vomitting and licked hair off back foot. Now I know what it was. Every month I'd been topping him up with it. Not any more. His foot has healed and his cone is off. So the tablets were the only thing that helped. He'd been wearing a cone for 3 years. :) Hi ! I remember the trouble you and your boy had ...and am very glad he is now happier! back when I had Mitchell .. we didn't use the spot on things - it was just malawash if/when a flea was seen ....
  7. Elsie - :) yes, she does look quite the whippet ;) Ping!! What a character he looks - his name is perfect :)
  8. ...something to consider . perhaps try using LESS chemicals ? Does he really need to have flea/worm treatment each month? is there another way , perhaps , to help his system be stronger ? Maybe keep up with HW prevention if you live in an area that needs it - worm him less frequently with a dedicated wormer ..and treat fleas with diatomaceous earth or something??
  9. yes- it seems no time at all since she was all big eyes & knobby knees :) :)
  10. awwww..but she's still a baby ...... Noooooo ........ ;)
  11. :) he will smell/hear the sheep long before he sees them , yes!
  12. Sars..get some video of her ..to show the vet - that will make diagnosis a bit easier . You may be correct with a back injury .Do you have a good canine chiro nearby?
  13. sars .. cold tail, anal gland probs, lower spine ouchies, are the obvious ones ... is the rest of the dog normal? ear carriage, posture? is dog happy and behaviour normal at these times? When you go to the vet ... could you get a video to show them?
  14. Hope all goes well, and that you remember to spend lots of time with him , keeping that brain occupied , so it's MUCH more fun than figuring out how to get past a fence ;) oh .. and make sure his microchip details are up-to-date !! :)
  15. That's the thing - pups can be brought up to never set foot over a very low fence ... an aduklt dog who knows the fun to be had in 'the chase' needs to be 100% controlled immediately , so they don't learn how to circumvent any physical containments ( and they WILL.. ;) )
  16. I mean in the same dog ... sorry . I have had two dogs suffer from it .. but only once each over their life ... didn't know it could recur ...
  17. Our house yard - almost 6 ft high netting ... with extra wires along top....for house dogs ... Outside/working dogs are on chains when not with us .
  18. ..and how do you know this for sure ? has he been to the new place and seen the sheep thru that fence? Sorry .. with living things there are no definites, really ;) Dog runs can be sourced from online sale sites/freecycle ( look for chook pen , stock pen...) ..and you can start off small/secure, and work up , with time and expertise ;)
  19. ringlock and barb for a dog unused to such fences , but with high prey drive , is inviting trouble I would not do it , unless my dogs had very good training , and little prey drive. I once trained one of my dogs to never step thru a plain 4 wire fence unless I was there to magically open it ;) he was taught from a puppy .Luckily he never wanhted to really chase anything!
  20. Definitely build a LARGE enclosure ..and make it interesting , with paddle pool/sandpit /toys/shade , etc :) this is a MUCH better option that chasing sheep . :)
  21. A vet visit will give you some answers, sars. :) it could be all sorts of things .
