  1. the pic of her with the bark roll is just wonderful :) She IS TEENY !!
  2. oops - herding breed - wheels - it happens a lot I presume you have trained pup to walk without the presence of the pram ? have you been to a puppy school?/trained in the backyard ? She is a baby .. and will be a bit bored with just a stroll , when alongside her , there are moving things which her instincts tell her to CHASE/herd/nip! IF she walks beautifully on a lead - with no pram , and listens to you - THEN you will find it much easier to walk her with the pram . Also - by just using the pram in the yard ..you can train her to ignore wheels - use treats to get her to pay attention to YOU - not the wheels , maybe ? I will stress that she needs a couple of obedience sessions each day , plus LOTS of interactive toys - balls, plastic drink bottles with a few bits of dry food in , a sandpit , deer antlers or big bones to chew ...all that sort of thing to stimulate /exercise her brain, instead of the pram wheels ;)
  3. ..Not sure , but I think laughter is the best option - We now have TEAMWORK > Molly jumps on the top half of the door , and as she does, the door swings open a crack, enabling Puddenhead to open it . Last night I heard a bang- and TWO leggy beasts jumped on me as i was dozong in my chair ..... LOL> Y'know- Often I am glad this old house does have broken bits/no paint/no expensive things - :)
  4. Oh - I did forget to say the flyscreen and grille are only on the top half of the door ;)
  5. Oh dear - I was very polite ..and perhaps I am being 'superior' someone mentions poisoning weeds in their brand new veggie patch . people gently try & steer them away from using this method . turns out partner is horticulturally employed. I offer links to methods great for a small patch ..esp as they are going away , so leaving areas covered in something would be perfect! nope. then concern at keeping the dog out . yep. The "fence' would maybe keep out a geriatric guinea pig.... Oh well - :)
  6. Well, gee, Willem. You totally nailed it, there, and really burned me in the process. Excuse me while I rethink everything I thought I knew about dog training. I'll be in my ivory tower playing checkers with pigeons. And here I was thinking you played chess with chickens... of course not, silly :) Corvus uses pigeons, 'cos of the magnets in their heads ! I'm a bit of a Columbid devotee, and I've never been very good at chess. :D It's possible a chicken may actually beat me at chess even as it's scattering the pieces and soiling the board. :) :)

  8. Dear sweet little Miss Molly . Dog of much slinkiness and sookiness. Dog with the pirhana-like snaps when the mood takes her. Dog with the gentleness of a little fairy Dog with the eating habits of a well bred socialite Dog with determination! Dog who doesn't wait for the kitchen door to be opened . Dog who just climbs/jumps through the grille and flyscreen ( which is now more of a curtain !) Dog who is immensely pleased with her effort and climbs onto The Boss's lap to smooch .........and lives to tell the tale! BITCH :)
  9. LINK excerpt : False Statements about "Positive Dog Training" False Statement by APDT: "Dog-friendly training is training that utilizes primarily positive reinforcement; secondarily negative punishment, and only occasionally, rarely, and/or as a last resort includes positive punishment and/or negative reinforcement." Reality: The vast majority of Positive Dog Trainers use no more positive reinforcement than other trainers in their training and use just as much positive punishment in their training. The use of positive punishment is not occasional or rarely.

  12. They are even cuter than lab puppies ;) Thanks for the info on vertical feeding , too! I have only ever seen aspiration pneumonia/choking when babies ... dog/cow/lamb have been bottle fed . I am so pleased we are getting lots of photos -
  13. now that's something I have never heard of before ! How common is it , for extra care to be taken? I have cared for many bitches/litters , and have not ever seen a case .Is it something exclusively rottie?

Still see a lot of stuff in my newsfeed that makes me shake my head though. yep :) stopped seeing posts which are full of anti this that & the other ...as well. Much nicer .
  18. Kirislin - you know that dogs need company and mental exercise - both of which you can provide with excellence ! :) Secret is so tiny , and will grow and adapt with you should she stay .
