It does sound severe- and will not be a quick/easy fix. There is an example amongst our own DOLers of the absolute heartbreak and upheaval caused by a loved dog with similar behaviours An assessment by a recommended ( ASK ON HERE) behaviourist will help you in decision making . This is a situation, where head must rule over heart ....

I suggest you seek advice from a specialist ..maybe a neurosurgeon , or orthopaedic vet?
-
so you have not signed anything /made a deposit ?

That's disappointing in one way .. hopefully it was a strain or something which has healed? make SURE you catch anything like that on video ..any limping/dragging, especially with yelps/whimpers.

Wondering how the vet visit went ?

FB does stuff like that

Good luck at the vets ..it could be several things , so vet opinion is a good plan! Tonight , or first thing tomorrow- see if you can get a video of your poor little dog doing what you describe :) That will be a big help at the vet .

Bear in mind that the only poodles you are likely to see there will be in full show clip. yes - the man of the house will be unimpressed ;)

Don't panic just yet - I will advise you to read the info in all these links - They will help explain some of what you've noticed , I think . LINK 1 Development Calendar . LINK 2 Socialisation - what is it exactly ? LINK 3 Socialise now- play later .

Hi :) good on you for researching . Hopefully you will also research breeders before you choose one from whom to buy a pup. Does the breeder show ? Can you do a search for their kennel prefix and look at some of their other dogs/pups? What is the general temperament of their bloodline? Does the breeder appear to mainly breed for a particular colour ? Do they advertise with words such as 'tiny', 'teacup' ? (do NOT settle for a breeder who just happens to have a pup now ...it may not be the best you can do . ) tell them about your plans for a puppy ..and make sure the breeder has written proof of tests done on parents for inheritable diseases - Also discuss plans the breeder has for baby puppies - socialisation , diet ..and ensure this is all as good as it can be!

The scooting could well be a reaction to pain, as well ... pain around the surgery site , itchiness( which is mild pain) from tiny cracks around his anus ..... I know benetook can be cheaper - but perhaps it may be wise to get a new pair of eyes have a look at Rascal ?
