  1. I am so glad you came looking for advice :) my thoughts are the same as many of the more experienced who have posted. keep your boy where he is less anxious and happy :) seek a specialist professional to help - same as you would if it was a human psychiatric problem :) Give medication a chance - anything which will lessen the anxiety will be such a relief ! IF all measures fail, and your health is also suffering , then giving your boy his 'wings' as you hold him safely is the only alternative ..and it's good that you have included that option. Rehoming a dog with mental health problems is fraught with danger. Thinking of you ...
  2. Lovely 'godlight' :) The first one one is my favourite
  3. I don't know your dogs ..and cannot see the body language , so cannot definitely tell you what to do .
  4. how old is pup ..and what is the "stuff' "from the supermarkets ? ;)
  5. She sounds as if she definitely needs some lessons in manners - and he;s teaching her :) In my pack - this is all good .
  6. :) glad they have a) experience , and b) other dogs . pup will learn some manners , but not like being with litter/mum. Mind you , when I was young, 6 weeks was always the time we got new pups ....
  7. What resourceful and good people!! :) :) Darling old dog ..she'll probably sleep for a week!
  8. Searching can be frustrating! :) Hope you find what you seek :) MUST it be a baby puppy ? Sometimes breeders/rescues have screened older pups/or adult dogs who may suit your family , without all the baby puppy work ! re: pups being left alone - these is quite a lot of good discussion in this thread I started years ago (where does the time go?) :) CLICK HERE
  9. yep . free feed grain/carrots , then add the poison .yes. The Boss musters, sorts out, yards and trucks away feral goats . When the goats are brought back here to the yards , they take no time to start eating hay/drinking from a trough . Providing they are kept in their family mobs , they stay more settled , and they adapt quickly - so yes, I could see that feeding would be accepted by the goats after a short period . I missed the landline show - wonder what other things the powers that be tried ?
  10. 'fait accompli' is no goats ,intact wildlife, and destroyed dogs ..all without upset/petitions and unauthorised island access/action ;) That's a long way off yet!
  11. Does the dog bark loudly ? Could it have been 'de barked' ? Looks as if the marks could be from a collar buckle perhaps .... has the area been shaved, or was it like that?
  12. They could offer expert bow shooters a chance even!! Hunters are ALWAYS looking for somewhere to go .Bow shooting, when done properly is quiet, non intrusive, and very effective /quick!
  13. Oh!! I just looked up wikipedia ..that island is TEENY !! I really cannot figure how hunters could not make impact on the goats!! Area4 km2 (1.5 sq mi)Length2.9 km (1.8 mi)Width1.7 km (1.06 mi)
  14. Apparently the landscape is not conducive to shooting , either on foot or aerial ? anyhow , it's on LANDLINE at noon today . I am 90 % certain that my brother & his dogs could manage the task . His dogs are used to finding goats- he is a qualified shooter ..... I have a strange feeling this experiment once aired today , will attract an awful lot more negative attention, and may not be completed ...
  15. Freddie loves water , hoses, taps ... I left a hose running for him yesterday ..and then had to laugh as he made his moat!! he dug just ahead of the water ,letting it flow on ..and on ... When it stopped flowing a couple of times, he went to where it was blocked, cleared it ..then ran back to the front of the flow to continue . Molly just watched .
  16. Guess it's to fit their time schedule or somesuch ...dogs are to be in place for 2 yrs , no longer ..?
  17. That's the plan , so yes, hope it plays out that way .
  18. LOL if she can chew roo tendons- she can definitely chew chicken frames!! :)
