That's good news, anyhow :) -
seems as if he is very unsure , being in a new space, and with the other pup being pushy just keep offering his two or three meals a day - same place, same time - don't hover - let him be for 10 minutes - then just remove food, and try again next meal. have they had their "Hi, Vet - I have two new pups- are they OK ?" checkup yet ? Vaccinations ?
-
Hi :) OK - feed both pups separately - well out of sight of each other . make sure they are both getting training sessions and walks singly . Use the same food they are used to .. and use the same place to feed them .. don't make a fuss - just put them in their rooms ..then feed them , pick up bowls and let them out . Same with bone chewing sessions etc . Hopefully the breeder can also give you some suggestions? and some reading material for you - regarding getting two pups at the same time ... LINK LINK and - just because they are of the same blood /litter - that doesn't mean they have to like each other .

oh - also this pup is under a roof for about 80% of its day - of COURSE it will get excited when outdoors - where all of a sudden it can smell and see and feel the world ;) A balcony is no substitute for the sensory information available in a backyard/on a walk ... What training do you do apart from walks? I think pup would greatly benefit from trick/obedience type stuff done inside - a few sessions each day - just 5 minutes each :) This can also be done on common ground in your housing development .. no need to walk every time you step out the building .- sit & watch the world - Also , make sure she has interactive toys - ones that release food/make noise/can be chewed - so she has something on which to use her brain . All young things need to continually see/feel/do different things to get skills for life :)

did the neighbour SEE the incident ? What damage was done to the paw? -
Only a week , and she is 12 weeks old ? ;) leash training ideally starts as soon as a puppy comes home :) Walk around the house /yard until all is happy and relaxed, THEN take it to the streets . think of as a young learner driver - at age 16 they are put in a car and told to drive to the VIC market . Much preparation and learning needs doing first :) have a read here , and def. book in for classes :) LINK LINK LINK LINK

if one has a small dog , ANY fence gaps should be small dog proof . Did anyone actually SEE the bite happen , or did lady find out later ? if no eye witness account , small dog could have injured paw in another way ? Can't help with the legalities , sorry . -

Thanks for the extra info. It does seem the misinformation you were given was not helpful Did you know ( 'cos DOL is wonderful) ;) There is a HUGE thread on REACTIVE DOGS !! -
I had my boy's surgery done by an orthopedic surgeon at my vet's suggestion .:) ( 18 kg dog) The leg was immobilised by heavy bandaging , and recovery took a while . The result was fantastic - and he had another 10 yrs of extremely active life with no problems whatsoever . it IS important to be vigilant with the confinement /restrictions .

LOL ... :)

I hazard to suggest that none of your dogs has resource guarding instincts to be honest - it's never crossed my mind - as I do that from when they're babies .They certainly get into the odd scrap between themselves over treasures occasionally ... and are all fed separately once adult . Spice - just to clarify , I've been around dogs for over 50 yrs - and yes, still make mistakes , (one of them being taking things for granted ;) take on board the advice posted for you - it comes with decades of experience from trainers, breeders and owners .Resource guarding can be a serious problem , and you are doing well seeking advice now :)

spice - when you say you feed him his raw by hand - do you hand him one large piece of bone/meat , or do you feed him mouthful by mouthful? :) I give my dogs their bones/meat all in one piece by hand - :)

hard to explain my thankfulness and enjoyment for this weather ....it's a bit like 3 Secret Santas at once ! ;) BUT BETTER!!MUCH BETTER My old Pop had a saying when this reprieve from sand , dry and despair came about - he'd say "I just want to get down & ROLL in it " I know just how that feels at present.
-
ohhh yes :) they can be amazing dogs .I have had the good fortune to train a couple many years ago.
