  1. here a light and simple vest with glow stripes ....
  2. :) providing the dog has ribs covered nicely and is bright eyed & happy , don't worry . 'Bulked -up' dogs may suffer later on ... Your pup may not ever be large ... individuals in a litter can vary in size and temperament . While that bulky look is fashionable among some owners - the dog will be healthy & happy without excess weight ....and luckily ,dogs don't feel the need to compete in the looks department ! Your dog needs a good balanced diet .Dog roll, plus soft RAW meaty bones, like chicken frames/lamb flaps / beef brisket , plus an egg or two dfor now will help. Change his food gradually to avoid a tummy upset ;) Roo meat IS lean , and is not a balanced meal at all .
  3. While I am so glad you came & got some info and support here , I am sorry you do have such a very ill puppy , and that the 'breeder' is being unhelpful and unsympathetic . please keep us posted , and I am sending more thoughts your way .
  4. Agree. The shorter hairs are spiky. The longer hairs go in drifts. They all shed but differently. and it's those short hairs which stick out at odd angles on contrasting colour clothing ;)
  5. LOL - short coats like pugs& Jack Russell tend to shed heaps, from memory !!
  6. If you are so worried then it would be best to take him to hospital, it sounds urgent to me. That's what I would do without thinking twice, just to be on the safe side. He is a tiny infant and every day matters. I was hoping to read that he sees a vet today ..and gets a diagnosis . Such a worry in a teeny baby Thinking of you, and sending healing vibes :)
  7. agreed :) You might get some useful information from previous discussions on D O L :) CLICK HERE CLICK HERE
  8. :) I also find this hard to understand - a vet behaviourist can diagnose , and provide you with the most appropriate plan for your dog /your situation . Phantom - if you have a car , and the engine is sounding odd - do you try the duct tape , screwdriver, blutak regime , in the hope it will sort itself out ? Normally , a mechanic's advice/expertise is sought promptly , as further damage can be done if an engine is running rough . So - a Vet Behaviourist is the most effective way to diagnose/treat a dog with a problem :)
  9. Hmmm.....there are different types of aggression . This would not be a defining moment for me ..
  10. :) might be time for a thorough vet check, including a full blood panel - in case there is something happening to make him feel ill/uneasy after eating . What happens when you change the time/way he eats? if you, for instance .. break his food into 3 tiny meals ? Or hide it in several spots ....? if you feed him at different times each day ?
  11. make SURE you get a thorough vet check .. maybe even a second opinion ...keep records ... If the breeder is registered with their state body , and you receive a pedigree for your pup - depending on how his health goes , you may have some recourse ... the most important thing now is to get him hydrated and feeling happier - ASAP , get him to a vet again , and if still underweight/dehydrated,the vet may use some fluids injected under the skin to help . meanwhile let him rest .....
  12. ohhhh Saffy looks very perky & happy ..and the BEST little healer-of-hearts .
  13. this does not sound good . pls get a clean poo sample and take to the vet. Pup needs another appointment, as teeny pups dehydrate very quickly , and can go go friom 'looks a bit sad' , to VERY ill , in 24 hrs. Runty pups can , sadly, have internal organ problems - some things just are 'made' wrongly , and so puppy cannot grow/develop. A puppy with growth/weight probs should never have been sold:(
  14. :) Ask to see the parents' pedigrees . however , you never will be 100% certain that the male pictured IS the father . Without seeing the pedigrees/vet certificates ,you will also never be sure if the parents are free of relevant health issues which may be passed to pups ...
  15. ;) start thinking as a pup/dog ... as long as there is adequate shelter ..a drink/some interesting and varied toys , something to watch , ie: clouds/birds and perhaps a chewy bone and a bed to wreck , whether it be in a marble castle, or on a patch of lawn doesn't matter . in fact the patch of lawn is BETTER from a pup's p[oint of view..it contains scents/textures us humans can never appreciate !
  16. Science has finally caught up with what was common knowledge ;) These two leave not much doubt ;) They are striking looking dogs , and and their owner creates amazing images! :) if you use a search engine , look for Renn & Uluru (their names)
  17. yes:) esp on that side (his good side ;) He is the same body shape as old Caillie , his grandma :)
  18. start as you mean to go on (unless weather is very cold, or rainy, etc) puppy pens can be used indoors - having free run of a room/the house is an earned privilege - not an automatic right ;) if I was to get a well brought up husky pup - there would be a secure pen and shelter outdoors for their use when not with me indoors /outdoors .
  19. Hi :) I think you will find the following discussion very helpful :) CLICK HERE I am a believer in "start as you mean to go on' ;) And how many have you met/walked/played with /seen at shows, or at your chosen breeders ?
