She has been on 225mg twice a day since May and they recently upped it to 500mg twice a day because of her upset stomach. She's been on that higher dose for 5 days when it happened. She is 17kgs. From my Googling it seems that later dose is top end of normal but with her liver issues, I don't know. I'm just so confused. This latest Specialist certainly sounded like she knew what she was talking about and she said it was a toxic ( or very close to ) dose. I've checked with my OH and he said yes, she definitely did say that. But I came out a bit bamboozled after talking to her and tbh I just wanted to get Mya :) :) She actually said that the blood test they ran at the end of Mya's treatment came back normal for liver enzymes and questions Mya's original hepatitis diagnosis????? She is going to ask for a copy of the original liver biopsy report and we go back to see her in 2 weeks, so I can ask more questions then. It all a bit of a mess and for now I just want to concentrate on looking after Mya. I'm exhausted. I will talk to my vet but want to be absolutely sure of the facts before I do. Such good news :D Your vet certainly does need to be informed , it was an almost fatal mistake, and hopefully won't happen again if they have it calmly explained, with facts , IN PRINT now! Do we get to see photos of the miracle mya ?

That'd be great! Especially if they understand the Spitz temperament! I live south of Perth CBD, close to Belmont area. ...'quite significant'?... the difference can be extrem! that refers to behaviour, needs, maturing, training, bonding, food requirements etc. etc... See, I mentioned that my puppy is a Spitz and they are more independent and stubborn than working dogs and my trainer told me that basic principals are the same (she's probably right) and I must be doing something wrong at home (then she suggested that she does home visit because she needs to see what the dog is like and that I'm probably misinterpreting his behavior - all fine but just a little hard sell especially considering she hardly deals with him in class) :/ Also she's never heard of Japanese Spitz before... eems a new trainer /school is the go ;) It's nice to work with somebody who knows dogs .

quite well, apparently :) We used have an OESS ..and she always had her fringe, even when the rest of her was clipped very short :)

castration if possible ....tho, at that age , he will probably still 'want' to ! I have had castrated when mature dogs behave worse than the entires!!

A very special visitor :) A 7 mth old BRIARD , with the sweetest temperament , and softest coat ( which is a burr magnet ) ...Oh - he was here with his very very proud and loving owners , and apparently has an impressive family background , and lovely sire & dam . What a pleasure ! Mind you , I am so thankful he is a sweetie , as within 5 minutes of him arriving , he found a chop bone someone else has thrown away (grrr) , and had a piece very well lodged across between top molars . My first contact with him was to grab his muzzle ,and throw a hand into his mouth ! I did think there may be a vet visit needed ... the darn thing was wedged SO tight ..but luckily he didn't wriggle, and I eventually flicked it out! My visitor of the week!

lamb flap , sardines in oil, eggs, ox cheek ,,minced raw chicken , a higher fat kibble, where she won't have to eat as much. ( too much kibble may be a cause of bloat ) Of course , this is all provided she has an all-clear from the vet , and has no health probs which may cause it :)

Uh Oh ..Doomed, I think. The smell/noise and movement will bring out that prey drive - even without seeing them the dog will smell & hear them

Sounds very normal behaviour from puppy to me . It's great that you are working with the pup , but ... Please make sure there is no real routine . IMO this builds anticipation & excitement -- it also leaves a 'lost' pup when you do something different ;) Spitz breeds can not be compared to non-spitz breeds in their temperament , really . Picking him up - this is actually rewarding him ;) That few seconds of close contact with you is faaabulous! Hasten slowly !! :)

Molly has decided that the boss's travel bag is a great toybox. Whenever the bag's on the floor ---- it gets used :D

yes.as far as 'redneck' kids go , he's still at the OK stage ..and he did enjoy bonding with Ned . I am worried we will lose a dog or dogs this year - all the moisture/frogs/lizards etc providing food and cover for snakes .....
