  1. isn't he just great! ? he looks a cool dude !
  2. Check back with the breeders as well as a vet check :) if it's a hernia, it's odd the breeder or their vet didn't notice/tell you . make sure the vet does a thorough check .. of all things puppy - teeth/jaw , eyes/ears/testicles/ joints/ skin/feet .. That way you will have a benchmark :)
  3. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
  4. he will be a very handsome boy :) Such a sweet face !
  5. ermmm , sometimes when she sits up & gives me 'the look' it seems so LOL
  6. Ash is still 'pup' so spends more time with me ... he had just been told off for being a grump ;) Miss Molly - she certainly is different, yes ! I will admit to admiring how she adapted to this 'new to me' vehicle .previously it was front seat only . Now, she waits for me to open the back door to get in and out ...
  7. Travel, as it is here . Dogs in the dogbox, and bitches /princesses on the back seat :p The princess will not even think about riding in the dogbox ! Hmph!
  8. Molly certainly has some genetic leanings ..she has incredible 'eye'.. but she's my house baby ;) She can run like a whippet .so fast!!
  9. belly bands are not designed to be used all day ......for hygeine/comfort ..so not sure . if it were me ..I'd buy a carpet square for their use ..and keep doors shut ( bedroom/bathroom doors are kept shut here anyhow )
  10. Just bought a couple from a place online - the lady sounded very nice... thanks. It will be interesting when they arrive !
  11. Thanks! I like the no sew idea :) ..D'oh. In days gone by I have made pup 'jamas out of tracksuit pant legs , so -- yes! Thankyou .
  12. I've seen heaps online - ranging from 60 down to 3 dollars ... but am just not sure what to really look for .. and are there any you recommend?
  13. *sigh* I am looking to buy a couple of Dog bellybands - but have no idea which are better/worse. My boys are , well, lacking training - and will mark inside if not watched 120% of the time .I can't afford'fashion' prices - but need something sturdily made :) I have been looking around - and am now totally confused . Any DOLer make them???
  14. I second the calendula tea !! Plus , if licked off, it will do him good - unlike most things! Buy the calendula from health food shops . Rinse his feet in the calendula after walks . I would also suggest removing grains and any artificial colourings from his diet :) he sounds like he's found a good person to help him!
  15. they are good feed/water troughs too :) I have seen them in cooler areas with a little air vent and a small door cut out , used as dog kennels with much success
  16. if he is one of the unlucky ones that get an early cancer due to de-sexing or joint and ligament problems he won't be relaxed either. Our family has always had male dogs and all have been desexed. To be honest they have all passed in old age and none of them have had cancer as you state Willem. Me personally, would always have my dogs, either male or female desexed because, even though I buy them through registered breeders, have no desire to show or breed with them. The decision is ours as a family and I envisage this decision will continue My last 4 male dogs were all castrated - None had cancer two lived into old age , two had catastrophic health emergencies and were PTS. All were VERY active - and one only had a luxating patella - due to an injury sustained as a youngster . It was surgically fixed, and he never had a relapse. I have had pet bitches who were speyed ..these all lived into old age with no cancer or joint problems Willem - can you show us what cancers and when desexed dogs get ?
  17. It is still a novelty to have green stuff :) Oh- and a minor flood ..... Thanks for lookin'
  18. The raven/crow was being a tease!! Molly just had to engage in pursuit ;) Mum & daughter Family - Dulcie , Molly & Wags . Mum, dad & molly (daughter )
  19. would you have bought him if the breeder would have told you that there are some issues with this pup as he was born without balls?...or do you think this would be a defect compromising the value of the dog? Do you also consider to crop his ears and dock his tail because there are 'some pros and cons' in it? Why do you think de-sexing would improve the value of your dog?...if you want a de-sexed dog, why not getting one from the pounds? What a rude post to answer a query . the new poster was confused enough ... to reply in a terse and angry manner was unneccesary . What is the 'Value' you speak of ? unhelpful ....
  20. You & the new 'toy' are a pretty good team!! :) Those are very pretty shots.
  21. I have never owned one , and only met a couple - but they strike me as solid, sweet and pretty stable ..and just downright gorgeous ;) This youngster- although he has his fears ( stairs and a couple of other things) settled here beautifully ... and impressed me by immediately settling when his owners sat down for a chat or a coffee .he just lay down and snoozed . He has a BIG bark for a youngster .. when I approached him behind a closed door but then immediately was friendly ... I guess as they were a shepherd/protection dog they needed to be calm and to think of stuff , and live in the moment ? Anyhow ...this boy is off to a good start , and whoever his breeder is gave the owners lots of very sound info and advice :)
  22. She has been on 225mg twice a day since May and they recently upped it to 500mg twice a day because of her upset stomach. She's been on that higher dose for 5 days when it happened. She is 17kgs. From my Googling it seems that later dose is top end of normal but with her liver issues, I don't know. I'm just so confused. This latest Specialist certainly sounded like she knew what she was talking about and she said it was a toxic ( or very close to ) dose. I've checked with my OH and he said yes, she definitely did say that. But I came out a bit bamboozled after talking to her and tbh I just wanted to get Mya :) :) She actually said that the blood test they ran at the end of Mya's treatment came back normal for liver enzymes and questions Mya's original hepatitis diagnosis????? She is going to ask for a copy of the original liver biopsy report and we go back to see her in 2 weeks, so I can ask more questions then. It all a bit of a mess and for now I just want to concentrate on looking after Mya. I'm exhausted. I will talk to my vet but want to be absolutely sure of the facts before I do. Here's a couple of phone pics of my skinny girl this morning. Goodness she has lost weight quickly, it'll be hard road to get the weight back on her, she's not a great eater at the best of times, but we'll get there. 2016-10-15_09-36-30 by Tee Kay, on Flickr 2016-10-15_09-35-59 by Tee Kay, on Flickr And a little video of her walking ( and almost getting pee'd on the head by Luka. Thanks Luka, you doofus  ) Mya's recovery from Metronidazole toxicity. She is walking so much better but still not quite right. by Tee Kay, on Flickr :D so lovely to see her at home again . I think you are both exhausted, confused and need some recovery time ! I am also glad that the current vet is doing some followup .
