  1. Actually there's a bit in here (bolded) which I missed on first reading. Starkhre would you be willing to share your questionnaire to be adapted to a questionnaire for tenants with dogs/pets? Would that work do you think? I remember doing up a questionnaire to assess dogs folks wanted to donate as live-in therapy dogs . We worked hard on making non-obvious answers ..used words in certain ways so folks didn't see it as 'right answer/wrong answer' and answered truthfully - good and not so good ;) Multiple choice can be your friend here :) Here is a very rough example ;) Q is your dog a watch dog ? a No , thankfully. b Only loud barking c Yes! No one will get in :) d Unfortunately not . my very very favourite answer ever ... "is your dog housetrained?" :) "oh yes! he knows to never come near the house!" Oh dear have fun with that . W.M
  2. knowing the premises ..if it were mine , there would never be any dog there other than aged ones who slept most of the day , who couldn't climb stairs , and whose idea of exercise was to follow the sun patches around ;) .... any children would need references. :p he,he,he....
  3. Zackly :) being on sand here, wet sand beds/holes are the best coolers around :)
  4. CLICK HERE excerpts : In the kitchen we hung three half-filled zip lock bags of water, with four pennies in each bag. There. We had our natural fly killer up and were waiting for the flies to land — somewhere but on the dog waiting patiently below the zip lock bag to see what would happen next. We had tied the closed bags with a twine and hung them (with most of the air removed) in varied corners in the kitchen, porch and outside patio. Within one hour, over 3/4 of the flies were gone. How it happened, we do not know. and May 16th, 2009 Regarding the science behind zip log bags of water? My research found that each of the millions of molecules of water presents its own prism effect and given that flies have a lot of eyes, to them it’s like a zillion disco balls reflecting light, colors and movement in a dizzying manner.
  5. I bought some this week for $1.50 each .... think it was IGA
  6. i honestly thought it was torture at first ..but to teh dogs , it was just another thing ..and it became normal very fast ... put gadget on ...this became a 'cue to poo'..reward..take gadget off , and back to whatever was happening before ... a few minutes ...couple times a day .... they were trained to relieve on command anyhow ..and on leash .. so there was no aversion ..it was all part of a process...
  7. eeewww... I had no idea about that .perhaps it was to show how secure the bag was ? (hopes) We never did that!! It was only on for the amount of time needed to fill it!! Put it on ... dog poos..take it off . yuck ,if it's done any other way :(
  8. obviously training is needed to accustom a dog to doing things a different way :) ... after all - we put dogs in wheelchairs, in pants , bellybands- in elizabethan collars .. harnesses which cover a lot of their body ..all sorts of things. In a previous life, decades ago .. I trained labrador guide dogs to wear a contraption using small plastic freezer bags - as they were to be sent to High Density Japan ..and at work there was nowhere they could toilet . it didn't take long - I also thought it was odd/awful at first ..however , the main thing was getting teh dogs to toilet on command ..then adding the contraption we made ... and they didn't think twice !
