Thanks... it's the first canvas I've had done ..

No way would I allow a pup to have free run of the house , or sleep on my bed ..they are privileges :) be sure to use a good enzyme based cleaner ..and once pup wakes up..HE IS FIRST to be taken out. Immediately - or there will be accidents ...
-
:) I am pleased with how this came out ... dear old Monty .. very ordinary iphone pic , sorry ...

I choose to think our dogs can still have a life when on their chains ... Ash is busy chewing on /rolling on a discarded fish head he brought back from his walk earlier... Pudden is rolling around on his bed with a ginormous very old bone , his plastic bottle , and an arm off one toy ... Fred is lying in a cool mudspot under his tree- he has been busy working the past two days..rest day today . Don has dug a hole in the cool sand , and is being annoyed by Mary goat , as SHE wants that spot , now that it's dug, and soft and cool ....

Naughty boy Don. he can be that ,indeed!

The water's receding ..Don & I checked it out this morning ...

Those little pink flowers (Colchicum) are wonderful :) Only last a short time , but they quickly form clumps of plants ..and the bulbs can survive a long dry spell :) Did you know also (thanks google, as I was looking for correct spelling ) The bulb-like corms of Colchicum autumnale contain colchicine, a useful drug with a narrow therapeutic index. Colchicine is approved by the US FDA for the treatment of gout and familial Mediterranean fever. Colchicine is also used in plant breeding to produce polyploid strains. The real 'naked ladies' are a glorious thing!! Amaryllis belladonna ... absolutely gorgeous texture to the flowers ...and a sweet scent in the evening... .

:) aren't they beautiful ?

Ok ..just a suggestion . maybe Something HAS made her unwilling to walk .. it may have been a smell/squirt of exhaust/rattly inspection hole cover/wind blown branch or curtain ..any one of a number of things . What does she do when you drive to another area , get out and walk along ? is she happier with another dog present?
-
How are things going , anyhow ?
-
Exactly ! Dachsies were originally hunters ..they still have a lot of drive - and if her mealtimes are her big events ... then yep, the adrenaline will be racing :) Young Ash has almost got his 'jabber jaws' to a point where he will do it on cue LOL It runs in his family ... they know we will give them attention for the 'silent barking fit' ;)

it looks an amazing part of the world :) Picturesque, historic, with rivers and green ... Lovely.

.Ok .. have you changed routes? Are you walking the same route each day ? has there been any work done on footpaths/roads? Do you walk from home , or drive to an area? What is a 'normal' walk plan /length of time for you both ? :)

I don' t know anything about it , except that the owner is lovely :) Told her I would share : so here :) Mutton Falls B&B, TARANA, NSW , an old (1840's) homestead & associated buildings - beautifully restored, alongside a river ,and with an acre of amaingly green grounds CLICK FOR WEBSITE

*nods* all is not lost :) Unfortunately , it means you need to backtrack , and work at teaching him the good habits again :) I'll look for threads to help you ...

;) a word .. or several about increased running /playing . it is a terrific tool - to make a FITTER dog, who then needs MORE running/playing to achieve that relaxed/tired state ;) as roova said ..trick /obedience work -BRAIN training is a good tool to relax a pup/dog . Several short sessions each day ... then again.. he MAY be hard wired to have way too much nervous energy ....and it may be difficult to teach him to be calm and relaxed ...

hi :) OK. First, find an excellent and ethical Akita breeder !!! make sure you get a pup whose line has been well though out, and tested for any hereditary problems > THEN - the breeder should be your first call for all things Akita :) They should help you with diet etc , as they are the 'experts' Dog food is as individual as your dog. One size does NOT fit all :) Research the breed , and perhaps have a read here as well :) LINK- lots of discussion about feeding puppy Akita LINK- link dedicated to Akitas on D O L

our dogs do this often - so hopefully it's just a case of being a bit surprised ...
