  1. I always felt totally safe with my big boy, Kieran ..as he would put himself between me and either teenage males , or drunks . he was perfectly fine with any other people/kids ... and my Mitchell ..well he would certainly ensure there were no trespassers, or uninvited people invading my personal space . He chose an assistant for me as well!! I interviewed several .. and the way he reacted to one person was the clincher :) Best choice ever!!
  2. Exactly . As I understand it ,K9pro advises assigning a 'value' to everything - with the owner/handler and treats/praise being the HIGHEST value .. So, when meeting new people ... the pup/dog knows they are there..is confident that its owner/handler will provide everything it needs - is happy to be greeted by people , but , to anthropomorphise- shrugs and just considers them 'part of the furniture' ..nothing exciting or worth bouncing around for ...and is in constant communication with its owner/handler
  3. Oh My ..what fantastic action shots ! So much expression on their faces ...LOVE, LOVE the 'run with the devil behind you ...'
  4. Excellent!! Friends had a GSD who would always let visitors onboard their houseboat... but they were not allowed off unless he got the 'OK' He once held two burglars at bay 'til his owners got back - they needed new clothes too ;)
  5. THIS is probably what you're looking for :) CLICK HERE I remember when we got our rottie pup many many years ago ....they are certainly beautiful puppies!
  6. Exactly , DDD - there are no silly questions :)
  7. Don't overthink ... puppies play .. they need to 'hug' to get close ..baby puppies do this all the time :) Often the excitement of a game, plus close contact elicits the humping action - it has no meaning , it is a reflex.
  8. Ah yes Our sheep ( and fluffy dogs get covered in clover burr ) Mary was pulling out caltrop or 3 corner jack - didn't look closely enough to determine which ;)
  9. This photo is on a hill where water wasn't . the river is receding fast ..so, down on the flats we now have mudflats, which smell swampy and fishy :)
  10. Now we have acres of swampy mudflats ..and lots of prickles hiding in the mud ;) Mary ( I count her as a destructive-type dog) can manage to get hers out - why can't the dogs ? LOL
  11. :D I bet he's feeling much relieved . Good news.
  12. WOW - terrific photo series. he is one bold fox ... and he also looks very experienced .
  13. good news :) he will feel so much more comfortable !
  14. Oh Dear ... This morning,I had 4 dogs , and was wandering along the riverbank to check our pump . Heard a scuffle in a clump of bamboo ahead of me ..then a SPLASH ... then Pudden came trotting past with a tiny dove in his mouth ! We had seen this bird yesterday , with an injured wing ...I looked for it this morning, but obviously it had moved .. I was going to put it out of its pain ..but not quite that way . Pudden surprised me ..he beat the others, dived in, & swam a short distance .....a bird dog!!
  15. I couldn't stand to see dogs being cold .... ours have wool, and I am the opshop's best customer in regard to old doonas/sleeping bags!!
  16. I wish you surgical success :) so much care is taken - your lad will be in good hands . I lost my gorgeous cat , Mr.Wilson, due to a very rapid onset blockage ...
  17. Good idea :) After feeding/waking ..STAY with him until he toilets ( being boring - no chit chat/playing /patting) then have a little party :) A few times of this , and he'll respond ! A couple of my dogs will still poo, then race up to me ,smiling, for a treat !
  18. Well done ! for the photos and for Jonah's new attitude to life :)
