  1. Why let such a wonderful brush go to waste ? ;)
  2. Oh ... hang in there little puppy ...your mum needs you ....
  3. Yes this. I don't ever worry that it is too soon. What is too soon? It's just too soon for yourself, your pet doesn't know, because your pet is not on this earth anymore. But being too late - that haunts me. Perfectly put. *nods*
  4. Oh my!! How wonderful :) The kids are still so photogenic :)
  5. Oh Don't know much about them ..but AFAIK they aren't common ..and being a 'shepherd'/guardian type ,may not suit most people ...? perhaps phone a breeder in the general area ?It would be just awful if someone took the 'big fluffy' and discovered it had traits unsuited to a little suburban -work all day- must love everyone- situation
  6. How large is the dog ? Won't he fit in the front seat /back seat of a car? Transporting a dog with painful hips in the back of a ute isn't ideal ...do you have friends /family with a stationwagon or something? How long is it since the original Xrays were done ? there may be something else happened since then to make him so sore , poor lad. D O L has some terrific professionals, like Jumabaar , glad you came here ! Now ..you say he's large - have a look here ..and see which fits :)
  7. Welcome :) The very first step is to get Xrays done by a specialist . THEN ..when you and the specialist look at the Xrays - then , when you can see what's happening inside your puppy now , you can use that information to start a certain course of treatment. please don't rush and try things until someone expert in the field takes appropriate Xrays and discusses them with you . I am sorry your pup is so sore Are his breeders helping you with this problem ? Keep us posted :)
  8. I don't like using broth ..cos when it soaks into concrete etc it stays there ....
  9. thin slices of apple .. small handful of kibble ... a few goodo's carrots sliced lengthwise
  10. You can do the same thing for an iPhone, provided you only want to access photos and videos taken with the phone camera - just plug into the computer using the USB cord, access the phone as an external drive and from there access all photos and videos in the library :) That's how I get all of my photos off of my phone. Can't access anything else, like music, etc - only photos and videos. same here :)
  11. Oh My!!!!! thank you for sharing :)
  12. How beautiful!! Thank you for showing us .... GREEN, and water ..and wind turbines ... *sigh* ....
  13. For a SWAP ..the exchange item has to be special at first ;) Lamb puffs work a treat! So do goodo's ...
  14. A growl ...Hmmm mum dog uses a growl for many things ;) I use a deep , interruptive "UH" ..or ,also an interrupter "excuse me !"- Early on, I get pups to understand YUCKY !! .. Said loudly and gruffly when a very young pup grabs something often means they will drop it then & there ..so then there's lots of praise ..and a treat ... of course , other words would probably do the same :) I tend to not use conventional 'dog training' words at all if I can get away with it ... Also, the BEST trick .. "swap" ..or "gimme". Some years ago I decided I was beyond chasing pups to get something back ... the swap or gimme game means they end up happily swapping what they have , for something I have ..usually something yummy ;) I also sometimes use "later" ..if I take something from them (like a bone when there are several racing around together) I will put it up high , and say "later" ..there's no looking for the object ... or trying to get it down .. IF you keep the promise ! (if not the actual thing ..a treat will do )
  15. Many thousands of owners get chi's speyed ... if your vet is inexperienced with anaesthesia in small animals - perhaps find another ? Some vets are NOT good with anaesthesia/surgery, but are fabulous diagnosticians ... perhaps yours is one of these? Gosh ..My vet used to anaesthetise and do surgery on mice, rabbits and guineapigs! they are SMALL
  16. Thanks Persephone. It is a delight to see our funny old girl behaving more like herself. May it continue !
  17. No idea of the biochemistry involved, but I'm pleased for you, and her :)
  18. A vet check is a good plan ..(at the vet's I worked for we always had a (free) post op check after 3/4 days just to make sure everything was ok) After surgery there is often some swelling .. scar tissue/reaction to stitches ...if it is very soft ..it may be a fluid lump .if it feels harder ...it's probably the body's reaction/objection to being cut open, stitched back together ;)
  19. Until they learn not to. teething starts at around 4/5/6 mths . The nipping/biting currently is just how pups are . it is NOT mistaking your flesh for anything ;) Human babies use fingers/hands, and mouth/gums to get the textures and properties of the world around them, and to interact . Pups don't have fingers ;) Have a read here .. CLICK excerpt ..speaking of a bitch with puppies ... She doesn't carry out these behaviours in anger. For example if a pup is biting her nipple to hard when feeding, the mother may give the pup a quick nip. She definitely doesn't walk away saying "ouch", or offer an alternative object to bite on, or remove the pup for time out.
  20. :) I think you're correct ..it's because he's trying to make a "Hip Hole" ..so he can contour it to his body shape . I suggest a vet visit, and some painkillers for him to make life a lot more comfortable .
