I agree with S&M's post . Claudia is a dog . Your daughter deserves to toddle about/climb on yr lap/the couch without anyone worrying about the dog's reaction From that post , it seems Claudia is resource guarding the most precious resource - HUMANS . Excluding her at times is good management - you're the decision makers, not HER ;)

Oh , that is so sad I can't think of much .. except maybe a return of illness - perhaps a tumour somewhere now ? if many aspects of life are untenable to her , and have you walking on eggshells .. that is not what living with dogs is all about, and , thos heartbreaking , I believe euthanasia has its place here. yes, it is what I would do /have done .

I think it did do good .. they tended to be a lot more wary around lizards ..... snakes do have a scent ... I suppose dogs can smell "snake" on a body , too ...

Hmm..in the past , I have used a bucket of water , a dead snake .... and the surprise factor . It ended with dogs doing a wide detour , wherever snake was placed ....

Awww.. even with a vet visit , outcome would probably be the same . Not 'bad' people ...and not a 'bad' dog ... just a sad story

Of course it needs addressing!! the dog needs an examination by a vet ...it needs to be checked by a behaviourist as well. TRYING to 'help' may cause more damage . if you are simply trying to establish dominance .. and the dog is suffering with a medical problem .. it will be painful for everyone Unless YOU are a qualified trainer/behaviourist ... pls recommend a professional . You are asking for trouble . there are many out there , cheap services, fancy names, flashy websites ... leave'em alone. Pay the extra to see someone vouched for . THIS person is one I've heard of ... if the owners cannot , or will not pay for even one consultation ... then , yes PTS is the best option, before things get messed around with. ... You are kind to offer help - but dominance is NOT always the way to go .

YES!!! there was a very good reason why the swaggies/alcoholics/ knobby-knee'd kids /widows, of years gone by usually had dogs .Those dogs were a part of life ..they provided different things to their owners, depending . Back when The Boss & I were quite young, we had a yellow lab . She used to always 'tell on us' , if we went somewhere/did something wrong/not safe - she'd race off & tell Mum ......... *sigh*
