Interesting. Wish there was a less technical way to measure - It'd be interesting to learn how many Kms The Boss's dogs do on goat mustering days !! (dear reporter, they are NOT cattle dogs ... *sigh* )

Not quite warm enough for him to be awake yet , so I moved him to a more protected spot Colours are slightly 'off' , but .. I'm often just glad to get a photo!! Lovely to see where folks are by looking at all the images :D

oh ! I've never had too many escapees . The best one ever was one of those 10 ltr spring water bottles !! I put in a couple inches of water with bits of putrid meat . left the opening as it was and caught heaps. I think the trick is to have the actual circular opening only about 2 .5 cm from the bottom/floor/water . Flies will instinctively fly UP ..and can't work out how to get back down & thru hole . I always use water ... -

I remember them being called "Flea Pits" ..one of those inevitable carry-overs from our British legacy , when picture theatres were often very decrepit , dark, and populated by a lot of folks whose hygiene was suspect ...can you imagine what it would have been like with no aircon .. cold , damp dank ..and odiferous LOL

Am enjoying this photo journey , thanks, @Canisbellum

Leo was an absolute star in his younger days he's perked up this past day or so ...ate well on chopped roo last night , and the remains of a BBQ chook tonight his time is very limited though , but, while he's still tottering about , and eating ... it's all good .Very sad, but good . I think he'd be about 12/13 ? pretty good age for a hard working dog in this part of the world .. Ash enjoys his outings , but doesn't really "work " Not sure why ...he'll get a few more chances yet though
-
..this is the result of what they've been doing , awaiting the truck .
-
The Boys are back in Town ... well back, after a day's goating , anyhow Ash in the middle , Indi, & Wags ( doing the Yoda impersonation) .
-
This will be the last photo of our old Leo . His tottery legs will barely hold him, and he only had a few mouthfuls of dinner last night ...he's very tired . In his youth , he was a fearsome worker .. was a fantastic 'yard dog' .. and could travel many metres running on the backs of sheep ... could work flawlessly with The Boss , and would tackle Billygoats with a determination that was scary!! He has been retired for several years , but has deteriorated rapidly over the past month . He will be helped over the bridge soon, by his boss. Oh .. he's Hamlet's 1/2 brother . Same mum . Only one inside at a time ... the bed sees quite a few different beasties !! Bo Bo is so lovely ..I keep wishing she would tweak a shoulder or something..just so she can't subdue billygoats ..she'd then have be an inside dog ... and sleep in my room & stuff .... ;)
-
After some hard days , working dog Bo got treated to some indoors R&R ... she is such a sweetie ..so gentle (except when working! ) Pudden Ash .

You've done well! Once the top is on , then you can cover part of with colourbond or something for shade/rain protection ...and then know he is safe & secure -
Kodi: why is this forum quiet about it?
persephone replied to Odin-Genie's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hmmm. Re the PTS Many years ago, a youngish lab managed to escape a house fire by jumping thru a glass window. For a long time after, he used to wake at night screaming. This was put down as him having nightmares. He had never done this prior to that night. PTS was not mentioned back then ,in the early 80s I believe dogs can and do suffer a form of PTS. They amazingly long memories, can make their own decisions, and can experience strong emotion. Why not ? -
O......K...... so they are going to enjoy a holiday , and maybe get a dog ? .... Fine .. :/
-
Much better idea ;) There are lot worse than he ....
