presence of bone shards in Dog Roll ?
persephone replied to persephone's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
LOL.... yes, autocorrect is often a 'funner' game than actual games!! having unchoked rice isn't a good idea -
No - I've not found any evidence of any sort of bone in the 3 brands I've bought . Someone , though was angry because of bone shards, which, they said were sharp enough to cut her dog's stomach when eaten. Is ground bone used in these dog rolls? I buy it for treats / something extra for the geriatrics ... and for my bantam chooks - they adore it as a treat !!

Foxes are indeed masters of using all their senses. Think I've mentioned on here that 20 or so yrs ago ..foxes were almost as thick as blowflies here ! I once saw one stealing the dogs' food ...while another acted as a distraction .. Once I took a dog & torch away from the house a bit to try & see one off - the dog would hunt foxes. What happened? saw foxes'eyes .. told dog to do her thing ..and could hear running pads on teh clay track ... galloop ,galloop .... No other noise, so I recalled dog ... pad, pad, pad .... back to me saw her eyes, and loose-tongued smile in the light ....and fox eyes not far behind her ! Fox plopped on its haunches, tongue hanging to one side - so Dog was sent off again ...The playing chasey went on for a few minutes ..and I was enthralled . That fox got a reprieve ......

I've never seen feral dogs who have been somewhere for generations - would imagine they'd scale down in size & become homogenous . yes, Feral cats can become ginormous ! 90% of the ones here are grey/black tabby .rarely there is a longhair . Some gingers are very occasionally seen . In years gone by when we had our pet cats free ranging .. we only ever had gingers . Anything grey could then be shot safely .I love cats ...and each feral I send back to its ancestors gets an apology & a tear or two - despite what ferals do to the wildlife .

AFAIK , GB, 'WILD' means never domestic to start with ... lions, lynx, elephants, snakes are all wild, as are foxes ... Cats & dogs living/breeding apart from humans are FERAL . it takes a surprisingly short time for dogs to become feral, sadly ..depending on the bonds it had with owners - possibly less than a year? if it then bred - offspring would be truly feral

There was a nasty incident in town SWF being walked along a grassed area along the river ... on lead. 2 larger dogs roaming alone approach and attack SWF... and one lady who tried to get them off . several people were needed to break up the attack . Small dog's condition is critical - lady has some bruising and bites to her hands. Attacking dogs have been put down . One was a 'dangerous dog' ...and from what I can gather there was a slip up in securing a gate

Puppy just changed - from normal to nervous and clingy
persephone replied to SA Fur Mum's topic in Puppy Chat
Pups/dogs do dream ... a lot! like us , some dreams can appear 'bad' dreams . perfectly normal . being a living creature..he will have different moods/reactions to things ....he is also still a baby. Infants of all sorts can have times of really wanting to eat or play ... but the body says "rest time" ..so they wander and whinge , trying to stay awake until sleep finally wins .... LOL -
Now I'm here, I'll add these to the mix . A little side wheeler (diesel) chugging upriver .....

@Scottsmum ermmm.... WOW!! Welcome to DOL young George <3 What an absolutely gorgeous face ...we do need more photos , please... he will bring much happiness Congratulations !!!

Opinions on new tinned raw food
persephone replied to Scrappi&Monty's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
that is what the fat and long cooking time helps with ... the conditions are not ideal for the growth of nasties . From what I have gleaned over the past few days is that this is a very old method of preserving food ... salting , then the slow cooking in fat( at temps up to, not exceeding 85Deg C) keeps moisture in the meat , breaks down connective tissue , and provides a shortish term storage life for the confit meat - the fat. ..and the cooking temp /salt help . Fruit confit is done in a heavy sugar syrup ... -
Hard decision, biting dog. *Updated*

The responsible decision - to not rehome . Things don't sound wonderful ... sudden aggression is such a concern ... sending thoughts ... -
here's hoping , hey ? .....

jeepers. I am sorry you didn't notice the red flags flying all round this info/statement if accurate . and , forgive me if i seem naive ..however , flying /importing a dog with an undiagnosed cough seems unwise ... I wish you some sort of resolution ...and an eventual start to a breeding program .

I copied this for you ... I think legal advice is a good idea . please do NOT name them on here ..the owner of the forum is the one who cops reprisals

Contact your state's KCC .. and give them the breeder's number/name, as suggested. yes, contact Consumer affairs or similar to discuss things .

Opinions on new tinned raw food
persephone replied to Scrappi&Monty's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
been searching ..and this definition, from HERE is simple , confirming that food is cooked , not raw . around 60 yrs ago , our working dogs were fed very differently ..when a bitch had a litter .. very often she was given a large container to feed from ad lib. This container was filled with mutton fat ..rendered, and containing a small percentage of a basic cereal rich dry dog food mixed in. part carcasses of whatever were fed when available . ... the only illnesses back then, and these rare - were distemper and cancer .
