Java The Gsd - Going Downhill And We Don't Know Why
Mr R & NR replied to Dxenion's topic in Palliative Care Forum
So sorry she is gone, obviously she was much loved. -
Glad to hear that SC, hopefully she will continue to get over whatever caused it. What a worry for you.

Hi SC, no real advise to add, just wishing Emma well. Hope she feels better soon. Poor girl.

Thank you for the update DR, my thoughts are with you both. I think you are so right, as long as he is interested in life and food he is doing ok. -
Great photos SC. I love the bulgy eyes when she is eating the ice cream. Nellie does exactly the same thing when it is something she really loves. And you are not bad for giving it to her. Short walks are ok, she will get a sniff, that is what they love. Pretty cat and it is good they get on. Big hugs Emma, so glad she is going along so well. I certainly don’t think you are being cruel, as long as she is interested in food and is playful why would you think you were being cruel.

Me too.........

Ah, look at the Emma. Pretty good she can still do her balancing act with only one eye. She is a trooper. My fingers too are crossed she stays pain free SC :)

Oh DR, very sorry to read this. Such a well loved Rotty, you couldn't have done anymore. -
Saves on water :)

Ah SC, sorry didn't realise she liked them but only if the maid chops them up for her. You know your place then :D I am sure she is doing so well because of the good care you are giving her and all the years of love. I admire the way you are coping.
-
 SC, I can just see them lined up on the floor boards, lucky you didn't slip on them. I guess if she doesn't like fresh sardines or offal, don't feed them to her, really does it matter that much?:) Mr Royce will not eat fresh sardines or liver or kidney, don't blame him really. And I am sure he is none the worse for it. Loves tinned sardines and mackrel though and of course dried liver.
-
Hi SC, bit hard to follow Dyzney's eloquent post as I cough the lump out of my throat. Just make sure the sardines are nice and fresh. If I get fresh sardines I only buy a few and give them to the dogs the same day. I don't gut them and as I mentioned to you Nellie gets them head first like as seal, she loves them. Or if I don't need amusement they just go in her bowl and sometime she has a little trouble catching the slippery little suckers. Another form of amusement for me. Hugs and scritches to Emma and one (hug) for you SC

I was in your situation a few weeks ago and I was lucky it was negative although the vet thought that the results would be posistive. Bad reaction to flea meds so I am sending you lots of positive thoughts for you and your girl.
-
SC, you know my thoughts are with you, you will decide what is best for both of you.

My Rotty had it done about 18 months ago, she is really good. I was very worried like you but it was fine. She was already crate trained and took the restriction extremely well considering she was in it for 8 weeks and is a high drive dog, then another 4 week with a small pen around it. No jumping until 16 weeks. I used a sling under her belly for any steps and was careful to follow all the instructions regarding exercise etc. I think keeping them quiet for the first 8 weeks is really crucial. She amazed me by putting weight on it when I picked her up from vet after the op. Good luck.

+1 for Ann. They are called East West Vetinary clinic as well

No DR, I asked him if there was evidence of an infection that maybe antibiotics could help and he said no. For sure I will be keeping a very close eye on her. It was lucky I found it quickly. She has a squished vertabrae in her neck and I was doing the regular ear/neck massage which she loves when I found it. Now she gets a tummy and leg one so I can check her armpits and groin. She doesn't mind that either

Great news DR, it must feel like a long haul though. Good he enjoys the vets, it would make it easier on both of you. -
DR, no cancer cells found. It got a little smaller over the weekend so the plan is to monitor, if it gets bigger or does not go over the next one to two weeks she goes in for a surgical biopsy.

I am waiting on a diagnosis on my Rotty NellieRose on Monday, Miss Squish your thread has given me hope. Thankyou.. I am of course hoping so hard the lymph node in her neck is only something minor, not the vets opinion though.

Noire, you will be in my thoughts on Friday, so sorry. I lost my girl the same way but she was only 8. Doesn't matter what age it is a terrible thing to have to go through. It sounds like you are doing the right thing for her. -

Delta Dog Training Course / Ndtf Course
Mr R & NR replied to charley101's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Don't hold your breath on NDTF doing the Cert IV, they said when I did the course in 2006! Certainly would recommend NDTF course though and agree with what Kavik said. Learning different methods has stood me in good stead over the years, just keep an open mind.
