Who feeds their dog more than 10% of their diet as broccoli? A lot of foods are toxic or cause problems in high quantities but are safe if smaller amounts are eaten.

The house I am in now is the first one I have ever lived in that has not had a macadamia tree in the yard. All the dogs I grew up with and the ones I have had as an adult have cracked the fallen nuts with their teeth and eaten them and non has ever had a problem. As a kids we used sit on the concrete steps to the house and crack them with a hammer and have one for us and one for the dog.

With all my dogs their name, then come.

Mine get fed twice a day with equal amounts each meal. If I am working the young BC on sheep he gets a smaller breakfast at least 2 hours before he works and the night meal is a bit larger.

Congratulations to Piper and Jazz.

Dog Going Bonkers/possible Health Problem - Please Help.
Janba replied to nomis's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Have you had him checked out by a vet to make sure there are no physical problems? Also is ge losing his hearing? Could it be a phobia about a noise that is occuring at that time. The noise could be anything -I have a dog that is phobic about roosters crowing and the bell on the home icecream van. It can also be a noise that he has never reacted to before until recently. I hope you can get to the bottom of the problem. -

The other big problem with chain leads is if you are holding the lead by the chain (such as when you want the lead short and the dog close to you) and the dog takes off they can do some serious damage to your hands.

I had a dally bitch with spay incontinence that developed about 5. She started of on stilbestrol which worked well and continued on it as needed, but I noticed that when she was incontinent she would try to get to the front yard and eat the couch grasss. A friend who is a herbalist used to get me couch grass extract and she was on that for the rest of her life with no leaking or the need for stilbestrol.

Playing. If you notice your little westie keeps coming back for more and the schnauzer backs of at times. I have no sound on this PC but playing can sound quite ferocious. If you are worried about her hudting him you could supervise their play time until he is larger, but she doesn't seem to rough to me.

Same here. My dally has always had ear roblems and if I syringe her ears out weekly with the dilute malaseb she if fine.

Hills is a great club and there instructors course goes for about a year and is very comprehensive. Also a lot of their instructors have done the CGC instructors certificate or the Delta certificate 4 in canine management. The puppy classes are great - I have taken 2 of my dogs to them and trained with them on and off for 25 years.

Bitches in season can compete in herding, they just run last.

I have used oil on ear mites in horses and it worked very well. You need to leave it in for the best effect. You might be able to get rid of the excess by syringing the ears out with warm water and malaseb which is often used as an ear wash

Desexing, Do Vets Ever Give Pain Killers After?
Janba replied to SarasMum's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yeah, my vet didn't notice till he was on the table as well. How can you not notice if you dog only has one testis? I notice them when I groom, belly rub etc -

A neuter is way less invasive than a spey so I presume you are speaking about neutering boys, whereas the OP is speaking of her bitch who is post spey and evidently is not feeling too well. From memory Axle had a retained testis so similar operation to spaying. The Warden (can't get used to thet name) can verify. -
Desexing, Do Vets Ever Give Pain Killers After?
Janba replied to SarasMum's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Mine have always had a pain killing injection when they are done. I would be very reluctant to give extra pain killers without first making sure this isn't the case. I would worry more about the vomiting as this is something I haven't seen in any of my dogs after a GA. With one dog I had to continue with pain killers for the next few days - she has a zero pain tolerance but the rest have been fine the next day. -
My dog rounds up other dogs, kids etc - he would be good at herding

I use Picassa too for emailing photos. You can set the default size for emailing under "tools", "options". If he doesn't use outlook you can set up a free google email to use with it.

I have had trouble with DogsNSW and my dogs PT title which he obtained under the new rules without doing HT. I was wondering if any one from another state has applied for a PT title without doing HT. Did you have to apply for an Instinct Certificate first or just show your qualifying card and did they grant the PT no problem?

I feed whole miinced chickens from my pet food supplier as well. It is vaccuum sealed and I use it within a week of buying it. It smells fresh and the dogs love it. I've never had a problem even with the dog who is allergic to almost everything.

Yep, we used the Zinc / curash, it just made the area moist which allwowed it to spread  You use curash powder not the cream and zinc as a dietary supplement.. The curash powder helps to dry it out.

Are you leaving the Malaseb on for at least 10 minutes before rinsing it off. The scratching won't go immediately but will take a few treatments. You could do a rinse in cold chamomile tea - it has a soothing effect on the skin.

It looks very like dalmatian bronzing and as the colour patterns are similar could be the same. I have known some dally owners who have had success in treating it by zinc supplement and curash http://www.thedca.org/derm.html
