I have no brags other tham my dog di a really good advanced cross drive today and his daughter saw sheep for the first time and was pretty impressive. The most impressive thing from todays training was a 2 yr old kelpie that the owner rescued from the pound. He had seen sheep once before but only in the round yard. We put him in the round yard then straight in the square yards. That dog did everything right just by instinct. The second go we started in the square yard and he was doing a HT so took him to the PT arena and he managed a PT that would have passed. He is a dog to die for.

An excellent idea! Courts should be able order that anyone they bar from animal ownership be placed on such a register. So long as it is only people banned for real cruelty. I would hate to think that some of the people the RSPCA has prosecuted would end up on such registry.

With one breeder I know her name is there as breeding a different breed BUT they got the phone number right.

2010 Training/title/goals Wish List
Janba replied to Seita's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I still haven't entered tracking trials nor done anything about Moss's obedience or agility and I am unlikely to ever do it. With only half a seasons herding this year due to lack of sheep Cole has got an advanced title on sheep and 3 passes towards his herding championship. We also got his HSAd (only one duck trial was held this year) so he now has both his started titles on ducks. -
Competing At Ccd After 3 Passes Gained
Janba replied to SmoothieGirl's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
You can enter the Nov trial so long as the entries close before she has her 3 passes for CCD. You can do the trial on Sunday. -

Its in the obedience rules and with DogsNSW under things like show regulations as well. ETA This was published in the DogsNSW May 2009 gazette

I was looking at these - do they work well?

It might be his home but would you let your dog wander 3kms away from you? A dog that goes 3km can go 6 or 10 or 20km. Working dogs, particularly trained ones can make the worst stock killers because they have learnt how to control stock. What was done to him isn't ight and the person who did it should be made accountable but in a rural area you don't let your dog stray away from you. ,

Poor dog But what was he doing of the property in a rural area. It is asking for trouble.

Its probably a poodle

I wondered but it's not a recognised colour so I didn't guess - unless it doesn't matter about colour as long as they are pure bred? Ticking is recognised just not fashionable in the show ring. ETA the dog does have too much white.
-
Yes - just heavily ticked So many ticked BCs get labled as cattle dog crosses.
-
No You are probably more familiar with the long coats.

Thanks I was having a momentary panic.

Years ago I had a dally who I didn't know had gotten into rat bait until she started bleeding from the gums. She was given the vitamin K injection and on tablets for several weeks and pulled through. I have no idea where she got the bait from but we did have a rat plague at the time. Fingers crossed for your dogs.

I am trying to cut number cards for a trial at tha weekend and can't find one to measure for the size. Dpes anyone have the approx size? Thanks

Thanks I am really pleased with him this weekend. Yesterday I ran him in intermediate B but ran it as an advanced course because I have never practised the 2nd drive between the 2 gates. He did it beautifully and after the hold in the shedding ring the judge let me do a shed and he did the perfect shed and scored 92 for the run. Today I moved him up to advanced B but we NQed. In the A course today we had one very stroppy sheep who kept standing him up and that sheep did the drive from the y shute to the z shute walking backwards stamping and thretening to charge and Cole is a very strong dog on sheep. Cole did everything right with that sheep and got it under control. I stuffed up the cross drive by giving the wrong commands again and he still scored 84. AND I got to play with Cole babies today because Ann bought the 3 remaining pups for an outing.
