Ha ha, i am watching the shoes... they are put up very high. But i am sure the garden will be gone soon. She chewed all our outside xmas lights but i kept telling my partner he should move them and when she did it, he was like - why did she do that.... ah cause she's a puppy!

I can't get over how smart Lily is sometimes. She does things without us evening having to train her. She 'stays' all the time that you will walk off and she will be waiting for you to say alright so she is released. When walking and at a street cnr, i just have a cough and she looks at me and sits. She is still a pup though and does pick and choose when she would like to obey our commands. We got a clicker though it it is just fanstastic. We got her shaking, so if we put our left hand she shakes with left paw and with right hand with right paw. All done with a clicker. Not sure what we want to teach next. She rolls over but would like to get her to play dead... get me a glass of red..hmmmm

Our pup has been getting under the house and ripping all the foam from our heating vents. It is all over the backyard. We have blocked the area off and waiting until she no longer fits under small gaps...

:p To those who have loved To those who have lost You had a true friend Who knew you were its boss To come home every night And see its smiling face To love you unconditionally And not care about your race To follow you around And play with you all day To let you rub its belly And teach it how to stay Your friend was the greatest It never cared… What you were wearing Or how you had your hair Memories are now left But the greatest ones at that Your best friend is now watching And probably giving you a clap They are eating what they want And chewing everything too But they won’t get in trouble..oh no Cause that’s what they can do So that’s the best thing About saying your goodbye And knowing your best mate Is somewhere in the sky But remember they are happy How could they not be They got a life of happiness With a person of true loyality We all send our love To those who have gone But never forget They will love you on and on ;)

That is too cute!! I got my girl a toy yesterday - think it is a pig with really long legs. Each leg has a different sound squeek in it and its stomach makes a snorting noise. She just loves it. It is her inside toy - she has this thing about dragging everything outside so we are making sure this one stays in.

Hi A I hope your pup went alright today... ;)

Hey All, my pup is getting desexed next week... Merry Christmas Lily. I start my holidays the day she is getting done. What should i watch out for afterwards and how long does recovery tend to be. The last time i had an animal done, was my cat in 1989 and i was 8, so not sure i remember too much - she did attempt to rip her stiches out, which i guess is something to watch out for?

There are so many great things out there for pups. I got a soccer ball the other day that has two little rubbery handles either side. Lily runs around the backyard with it in her mouth. On hot days it is good to freeze up a bottle of water. Lily loves chewing on ice etc so she loves to try and get through the bottle to the water. Sometimes the simple things are very effective. I also hear the sandpit is a great idea Diesel, good to keep them entertained and away from the garden. Also good to fill up with water on those hot days aswell.

Look this thread could go on forever and ever.. and it clearly is - hello page 9. We all want to believe we are the best owners in the world and i honestly believe we all are. No matter if you work or not, as long as you are treating you dog well, feeding your dog, getting regular check ups, exercising, training and loving your animal unconditionally, then you are the greatest owner. You are the person who went to the pound, pet shop, breeder and gave your pup a home. That is the best thing a person can do. We are all going to have our opinions on what is right and wrong. And if i didn't have to work, i would love to be home with my pup all day. I love her, i adore her and would do anything for her and i think in the bigger picture that is all that matters! You are all great dog owners. We are on this forum after all asking for advice for our dogs and pups, sending in photos and chatting to fellow owners, that has to prove how much we care and love our animals. Never doubt yourself, if you believe you are doing what is best for your pup.. then you are! So to bring the subject to a happier note... lets talk about the time we are having over christmas with our animals... I am having 2 weeks off and will be spending this time with Lily. I have brought her a new collar for christmas and she has her own stocking - so i am also going to get some treats aswell.

This is the topic that doesn't end, it just goes on and on my friends....

OH HELLO MOLLY!!!!.....too cute.
-
I did the yoghurt last night and she loved it... so thank you for that option. It is an easy alternative to just plain dry.
-
Oh your pups are just beautiful. You just keep doing what you believe is right for your pups. Everyone is going to have mixed opinions on this subject and yes they are all entitled to this. But my pup is home alone 5 days a week and she is ok, i am happy with her progress thus far and that is all that matters.

These are great, simple ideas - thanks flycow... and your lab is just gorgeous.
-
Thanks all, it is all very helpful, i will try some of this out.
-
Thanks Kimbo, will keep that in mind. I had a fussy cat for many years and it does make life hard. I think at the moment it could be more of an anxious thing - she wants us to be near when she eats cause she has been following if we walk away recently and maybe forgetting it is there? But i might just once a week try something different.
-
Thanks bluepoppy - that all sounds so good i think i will be coming to your house for dinner Yeah Lily does tend to gulp everything she puts in her mouth, so was worried about getting her the chicken necks - may try holding onto them.

The food we use is the food we were given when we got her so we have continued to buy the same. Sorry i am at work so can't think of the names off the top of my head. Can let you know later....
-
Great, thanks Meetu, that would be good. I am new at this so its hard to know what and how much - her weight is good and she has a great temprament and loves food time - but i would just love to have some alternatives for her aswell... ;)

With due respect, I'm not expecting anything of him. I was simply asking the question about how a connection is made by them in regards to being taken outside for a wee and them finally doing it on their own. I take him outside for a wee every 20 minutes or after meal/water, play, sleep etc. He is a wierd one because he has never pooed in the house, like bluepoppy, he knows to go outside for a poo. And get this, he holds for 8 hours overnight in his crate!! Yep not a single drop and when he goes outside with me at 6am, he does the biggest wee you've ever seen!! I know he will eventually get it but I wonder how they get it when they are taken outside involuntarily or carried out. It must be like, oh well I'm out here now might as well wee. But if I don't get taken outside, what the heck I'll wee here! I do watch him like a hawk but it's very hard. The other day we were playing like normal in the lounge, throwing the frisbee thing and him retrieving it. Nothing unusual, he ran to get the frisbee, then stopped and peed!! I have just bought him in not 15 minutes ago from having 3 wees outside!! aarrgghh lol ;) Yeah my pup did a pee standing right next to my boyfriend cause he was on the phone... it happens. I guess over time they realise they don't get anything for peeing inside but they get praise for doing it outside so that must be the place to do it. But some dogs can take up to 12 months before there are no accidents. Your doing ok Pawprints - i am sure your pup will get there...
