  1. Always the drama with entries!! Years and years ago in Canberra I had isseus at two or three shows in a row with some entries going missing and of course that show was part of muliti show weekends and the other entries always turned up! I guess sometimes you just dont know with the post !! I've also had entries posted well before closing date turn up at the show sec's the week after the show - we worked out they took 5 weeks to get there!! For any of us who have done show sec work it is always frustrating when entries arrive so late.. Closing dates are closing dates and it is always a good idea to make sure entries are there by that date - JMHO and if you can post a bit early you can miss the confusion that happens in mail delivery!!! Hope everyone has a great weekend !
  2. i tend to show in the type of lead that the dog prefers and then I just go mad with the colours! My black boy had a bright lime green lead as a baby!!! Now heis on a black bling lead and we both love it. my girl is on hot pink bling!!
  3. I also feed my pugs chicken necks and wings, on a daily basis. I feed chicken carcasses, lamp flaps - they eat the whole bone, roo tails etc. I feed a lot of offal and I only feed raw.. Sorry to hear about Congrad
  4. We will be partying Mandalay and have fingers crossed for that one more CC!!!! WOO HOO!!!!
  5. just tried to go there but it says that the hositing account has expired so maybe check back another day.
  6. He is the same one that put my boy Demon on to everything from cups to ties,i so have to get a bloodhound tie for the next boyfriend!!!!!! Are you positive about that? Trafford has never needed to commercialise his images to make money. I can confirm - my dog appears on a lot of merchandise for Michael. Only concern I have is that I dont get a discount when I want to buy something!
  7. RIP Gherkie - you will remain a star for every. You had a wonderful life and touched many many people... A special pug.. :D Dotty heart goes out to you - it is alwasy terrible to loose them, but to loose Gherkie at just two.. Just heart wrenching.
  8. i will often bend down to watch movement on smaller dogs. Personally dont see the problem or understand why it would be - I guess it is in how you approach the dog. As to hats and sunnies. I agree that really dark reflective sunnies are very spooky - I tend to wear quite clear ones that remove the glare and I also lift them up to see colour. As to hats - well, personally with todays knowledge of skin cancer I think it is unreasonable to expect a judge to stand outdoors all day without a hat. I put hats on and off and all sorts of caps etc as pups they soon get used to it. Same with flapping plastic bags - some rings use the flags to mark the edges, when they flap they make a similar noise. Some dogs will always be frightened of somethings - and therefore the judge should remove the hat or glasses, but I think that as owners we can help by wearing that sort of attire at home to familiarise pups. Wont solve every dogs' concern but it will help some. JMHO
  9. I will second that - a really lovely day, great little show - -congrats to everyone involved!
  10. Im really sorry that I cant be there - but with hubby having an op next week and my stepdaughter's birthday - it just wasnt going to be a happening thing to go to Sydney! Well done to all the nominees and good luck!!!
  11. I have had two Gr's and I showed both of them for approx 12 months after they were titled. I retired them when they were still on top and winning well. I believe that you owe it to the dog to give them a retirement with dignity. Some people call me silly - but I dont regret my decisions.. They were fantastic show dogs and deserved to go out on a high note. My first grand I retired when he was still entered in shows! He took RUBIG, one son took minor in group the other junior in group and I went - well that's it!! Night night nurse!! He really retired on a high!!
  12. OMG SBT that must have been REALLY spoooky! Thank heavens that everything worked out in the end.. Either your girl is the newest version of Houdini or there are some VERY nasty people around. Lets hope that Karma hits home....
  13. to all the winners and well done to Ceilidh on JIS.
  14. thanks Eskythe husky!! They were a 50th present from my husband!! At least I can alwasy find my car!! Actually I came out of gym a few weeks back to see two guys hanging around my car - I wasn't quite sure what to do, so I walked on the road to the drivers door and they guys said - oh is this your car - do you mind if we take a photo of your plate to my wife (other ones mother) !! We have a pug and she will love that!!!
  15. I believe it did PoodleFan. thanks for your company today!!! Trip home was a bit of a bitch around Gundagai wasn't it!!!!!!!! Thanks for yours and Kerry's help packing up - and Kerry's expert handling too!!!! had a good day with one of my boys titling, he needed 9 points and took a 14 point BOB and my girl took bitch cc for 11 points and she now needs just 6 for her title. So a nice day all around - particualarly as we didntg get wet!!!
  16. Maybe you can fill in the toy for Sat Yarrowfell - assume that you know who won group. ??
  17. there are two idiots in this world then! I am so sorry to hear about the attack.. I was walking three of my dogs one day - down our street . All my dogs were on leads.. I was about 5 houses from home when a cross bred cattle dog came out of a house - the owner was on the front lawn and he started to circle. The dog was exhibiting very aggressive behavour - hackles were up, tail flagging, etc... I kept my dogs behind me and kept moving so that the dog couldnt get to my crew. I called out to the owner and asked him to come and get his dog before it attacked. He told me it wasn't going attack (by this time the dog was rumbling..) and that "its all your fault becuase if you didnt have your dogs on leads there wouldn't be a problem"... So there are two idiots in this world
  18. :D it so annoys me - it will be a puppy farm pup or a byb ...
  19. Each to their own.. For me, I dont undestand why you would show a bitch that you hope is in whelp unless it is so impotant that the bitch be shown -? You plan the mating you know when enties close - why show the bitch - a couple of months off probably wont kill her!!! What worries me even more is the number of really underage pups at shows - ie litters that are born at the show or 2 days old!! Sorry, I guess I am just not that "show at all costs"... I certainly have taken a pup to a show for socialisation 1 day before 8 weeks, but that was because we were not going to have local shows for a while. I am regularly amazed at very very young pups at shows...
  20. They actually reflect the heat and are just wonderful. I bought the ones from the US and they are excellent. Easy to buy and cheap. They work well for my pugs, in fact I now have a coat for my black boy from the same material - to go over the cool coat so that if he is in the sun he really is cool!
  21. ooh thanks everyone - I will grab some! I do have velcro ties on the sides now but the bungees look quicker!!
  22. I would be interested in the bungees from the UK if you dont mind posting the link Ceilidh - probably get them if I order from the UK beofre I can get to Bunnings!!
  23. I did that - fell over running into the ring, knocked myself senseless and woke up (probably 5 seconds later) to find a whole pile of people gathering and my dog standing guard right next to my head!! very funny!
