Mae is looking forward to tomorrow - her first attempt at lure coursing - LOVES straight line lure racing

For one that bad I would administer a sharp slap on the butt. Sorry, but it's just rude and if he did it to an adult he would get bitten if he ignored their warnings - he's ignoring your warnings, time for you to bite him.

Hmm, until they chew a piece off their large bone and swallow it anyway. Yep - I have one that swallows things bigger than her throat, screams then does it again next meal. I do worry a little if she is damaging herself each time and could end up with an issue later on, but separating her from the others (they're fed in crates side by side) doesn't alter her behaviour so not sure there's much I can do.

I wouldn't be selling them a puppy.

Use calcium powder from any produce or vet. Or ask a butcher if you can have the "saw dust'' off their bone saw - but this isn't just bone, more bone and fat.

Sorry, I can only suggest that if she has hormonal issues and doesn't cycle properly and doesn't conceive when she does cycle then perhaps she has no part in a breeding programme?

Don't need an ultrasound, China appears to have a herd of Clydesdales inside her. Roll on the 16th!

You obviously have not "tried separation" or there would never have been a second fight, let alone a third. Separate these bitches PERMANENTLY. Personally I think it about shows you the ethics of the person who sold you the American Bulldog - most people I know won't sell a second animal of the same sex into the situation you describe and would have either told you to buy a dog or not sold you a puppy at all.

Tell Me What Can Go Wrong In The Ring Iyo.
Sandra777 replied to pixie_meg's topic in General Dog Discussion
You also have to remember that with some people if their dog doesn't do as well as they think they should, it will always be that the dog did something wrong. Be thankful they're aren't bad mouthing the judge (though I'm sure you've heard that too) Some people showing many years ago used to have the most amazing domestics if their bitch didn't win - on one occasion she was last in a large class and apparently it was entirely because the bitch turned her head when some dogs in the next ring started barking. If she hadn't turned her head she would have no doubt won BiS Don't worry about it all too much. Get one or two people you trust to give you advice and work on what they say. If other random people come up and give you advice, discuss it with your chosen people first, otherwise you'll confuse yourself and your dog trying different things all the time. Enjoy yourself and your dog will too! -
Constipation.... My Boy Has It!
Sandra777 replied to Sunnyflower's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
You can try a little bit of vegetable oil OR a little bit of cooked mashed pumpkin the amount depends on the size of the dog and age The problem with continuing to feed a dog that aren't pooping is that it does end up being a blockage then you can make the problem a lot worse. How much exercise dog he get? -
Tret The Parkour Dog From The Ukraine
Sandra777 replied to koalathebear's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've not seen this before, so thanks for the link. It says he's an Amstaff so lets believe them. Actually IMO the dog is not doing anything really dangerous, he's just very well trained and very confident - just like a dog should be! -
Nope. Not so much as read a book Stud dog was chosen by the bitch's breeder, she was on breeding terms. They chose the dog but did absolutely nothing else in conjunction with the breeding Maiden WITH HINDSIGHT I wouldn't have chosen that stud dog, but at the time who was I to say they were wrong. A dog of this mating is behind most of the dogs I have subsequently bred so I really can't complain too much Lots of fun, I had absolutely no problems at all. Lucky I guess! The breeder of the bitch took 2 pups (one for the stud fee, one for the bitch which I hadn't paid for), he agreed that my choice of dog was better than his once they had grown up. His pick bitch was lovely, but he "lost" her before she even grew up. The rest were placed via adverts in the newspaper (this was in 1980 LOL) and my choice of dog went to a friend of the breeder, and is the dog mentioned above. I didn't keep anything out of the litter - I would have kept the pick bitch if I could but I already had a dog and was only allowed 2 dogs.

Ethical Breeders. What Do You Do When You Can Not
Sandra777 replied to ~Shepherd~'s topic in Breeders Community
If for some bizarre reason a pet I had sold hadn't already been desexed I would certainly cover this cost, or in the case of using a rescue, any shortfall the rescue might incur between the cost of the dog and what the new owner could pay. -
Ethical Breeders. What Do You Do When You Can Not
Sandra777 replied to ~Shepherd~'s topic in Breeders Community
I would (and have) rehomed via rescues. If the situation was that I couldn't have the dog at my home and the owner couldn't either then I would be more than happy to pay all the costs + a donation for the rescue to house the dog until other arrangements could be made (either a friend take the dog or a new home found). If I could have the dog at my home or the owner could keep it short-term then I would (and have been) more than happy to notify rescue that the dog is available to the right sort of home, I would expect the rescue to benefit financially if they were to find the dog a home even if the rescue had incurred no expenses. -
At 11 weeks a little upset like that could be enough to upset his digestion a little, and could upset his natural gut flora enough for him to instinctively search out poo to adjust it back again. Some say this why dogs like herbivore poo so much, because the gut bacteria required to digest vegetation is somehow useful to carnivores. Personally I would just make sure I picked up before he did and corrected him if he showed undue interest in his poo (it's natural for a dog to sniff :D) and he should be OK. Some people think that making a big deal out of it just makes the dog think ''ah, something I can use to get attention" so perhaps err on the side of caution. Good luck!

Ethical Breeders. What Do You Do When You Can Not
Sandra777 replied to ~Shepherd~'s topic in Breeders Community
What sort of situation are you talking about? If the person with the dog was unable to care for the dog as of right now, then enlist the help of a friend/rescue/kennel to house the dog until I could find a new home. If the person with the dog was able to care for the dog short term, then all efforts to find the dog a new home immediately. If it was a dog that was likely to be impossible to rehome (very old, chronic health issue) then personally I would take the dog back and have it PTS. ETA: Interstate would not be a hinderance IMO - they have planes where the dog lives don't they????? -
No it almost certainly doesn't mean you're under feeding him - although this is why some dogs do it I doubt you'd be on here asking about it if you were the sort to starve your dog! Have you changed his food recently or has he been a little sick? New food sometimes doesn't digest the same so the dog thinks "oh smells like dinner lets eat'' and sometimes when the dog has been a little ill his digestive system doesn't work as well as usual so the same thing happens. How old is the dog?

Pregnant Bitch - Change In Personality/temperament?
Sandra777 replied to Leema's topic in Breeders Community
Yes, change of temperament or personality can be quite pronounced, good luck for bubs! -
Just trying to get my head around this I am not being a smart-arse, but is this the temperature the dog lives at or the outside temperature? If the dog lives inside where the temperature is never under 14 degrees and meets a mozzie which has been outside in the lower temperature there won't be a problem? What if the mozzie has been inside and not in under 14 degrees conditions? (How long will a mozzie live inside anyway?

What The Rspca Dont Want You To Know
Sandra777 replied to mortonplace's topic in General Dog Discussion
MOST animals "can'' be homed, even the most fear-aggressive dog in the world ''could'' find a home - but being realistic, how many of the animals killed by the SPCA (or any other organisation for that matter) could realistically be rehomed with an average joe-public owner who wants a trouble free easily trained no-issues dog (for example) and lacks the skills to manage anything more complex than a dodgy recall? No I don't agree with a lot of things the SPCA do, but sometimes the real world does get in the way of what we'd like to happen. -
Closely related to the brindle pug by any chance? Charcoal - that to me would be black.

What The Rspca Dont Want You To Know
Sandra777 replied to mortonplace's topic in General Dog Discussion
The SPCA is not an organisation for rehoming animals - their real place in the world is the prevention of cruelty, hopefully through education, enforcement of exisiting laws and helping/suggesting changes to the laws where they see a need. The latter is a joke, and I don't support the SPCA as even though I believe the workers on the ground floor are well meaning and great, the heirarchy is just nuts.... but this doesn't alter the FACT that their place is not meant to be a giant rehoming service. Have you any actual proof that destroying animals with a captive bolt is any worse than any other method of destroying animals? I have seen dogs & large farm animals shot, with an experienced person they are dead before they hit the ground and I could not see how they could have suffered more than a split second of pain. Are captive bolts less humane than bullets? I have personally experienced two of my own dogs being put down by injection and they did not go down as quickly as the shot dogs I have seen. (I have had other dogs put down by injection which did go down straight away) -
You could ask him how old his wife is and how many kids she's had
