Yes, thought of that, but didn't want it killed again for being in the wrong forum list. I've got cream, but I think it might be off. Damn. Does blue cheese go with scones? It's very creamy. Blue cheese IN the scones would be yummo! blue cheese is gross No one answered me about blue mozerella on pizza - OH & I are still alive in case anyone cares

I do mine with 1/2 flour 1/2 cornflour - depends on what I have in the cupboard of course. I don't worry about amounts and just add flour until it's the right consistency. Yes I know that was very helpful

Have You / Do You Work In A Kennel?
Sandra777 replied to colliehound's topic in General Dog Discussion
Could you take our little Fifi just for Christmas Day afternoon while their friends visit - they'd like to bring her in about 11am and pick her up say 3pm but maybe after dinner and if their friends stay could you have her for the night - this message left on an answer phone after listening to the message which states the kennels are FULL between Christmas Eve and January xxx and also CLOSED for pickups and dropoffs on Christmas day. My dog's fine, he doesn't have to be on a leash. Whoops, sorry he just peed on the desk. Whoops sorry he just jumped on that 427 year old lady. Whoops sorry he just frightened the living hell out of that cat. -

long unsocialable hours impossible owners Dogs with upset stomach because mummy gave them a nice big feed before they went to the kennels frightened dogs that bite frightened cats that bite and claw and pee on you -
Nope. I've flown pups all over NZ, from NZ to Australia, USA & Hawaii. Adults dogs from UK, adult dogs to/from Aust & NZ. Never had a problem What happened?

Anyone used the RACQ insurance they advertise? $1 extra a week or something I think it is if you have other insurance with them. Are they any good?
-
The local produce stores all have them in small bags. Maybe just ask if you don't see them out.

She's definitely related to China. You feed 'em they're yours!

Pavers work great, just lay them on a bed of sand. Sounds like a job for a good waterproof kennel for sure A solid roof for part/all of the run too would help with heat and rain. Dogs cope reasonably well with dry heat provided it's not way over the top, humidity is the baddie because they cool by evaporation and I'm sure you know how well evaporative cooling works in the tropics Clam shell pool of water, frozen containers of water and plenty of deep natural shade will help. You can buy moveable dog runs if you want, come in sections, so you can take it with you when you move.

When we're home the dogs aren't in the runs, they're out to go where they please within the fences, so yes they are outside the whole time when we're not home (except when the weather is insane, when they're inside with the aircon on). Personally I wouldn't leave a Stafford, adult or puppy, loose in the yard all day even the best yard in the world - way too many things that could happen up to and including some loonie chucking bait over the fence (yes, that is the ultimate in paranoid), but even lesser things like the neighbours cat jumping in, or even sitting on the top of the fence and aggravating the dog to bark all day would be enough of a hassle. To stop a determined dog digging rocks on the ground won't be anything like enough - dig down 12-18 inches, fill the trench with either concrete or lay wire mesh and refill.

4 x 2 or 2 x 2, no frills, no extras and available from most produce stores up this way.

What she said And make sure the run isn't easily visible from the street because someone will either decide to target the pup and pinch him or passing kids will torment him.
-
Pretty much the same as Miss Danni. Most of my bitches have always been happy to stand at the gate and wave as the new owners drive away with the pup. By the time the pups are 6 weeks old China is totally over them, once they start getting food from us her attitude seems to be - right you're feeding them, they're yours! - her grandam was much the same, but her mum was the ultimate baby freak and loved all puppies all the time. That said, all bitches are different but any breeder worth dealing with will let the bitch wean the pups at her own pace and separate herself from them when she wants to, so if she's not ready to let them go the breeder wouldn't let them leave anyway.

Thank you for making a sensible decision for the future of your pets and your son. Good luck with the new puppy!

How can you possibly train ADULT dogs not to guard their food from each other by teaching puppies without the presence of another dog? During which time they will be so overexcited adolescent play fighting could become a full on brawl in seconds. Do you know it can take literally seconds for one dog to take the eye or ear off another? Staffords don't fight like other dogs - when they do it they mean it. Squirting water will do nothing - you had better either buy and learn how to use a breaking stick or keep collars on them AT ALL TIMES and learn how to choak them off. Incidentally - have you ever seen a Stafford run straight through a plate glass window and latch on to another dog even with a huge shard of glass poking out of his ribcage? Sorry if you don't want to be "told" no - grow a pair and tell your son that he can't have the puppy he wants, or do yourself a favour and buy his puppy and get one (of the opposite sex) for yourself in 18 months time. I still cannot believe any ethical breeder would sell two male puppies to a pet home.
-
I can't think of any ethical breeder who would sell you two Staffords of the same sex out of the same litter if you haven't got the knowledge and experience to know how bad it could be without asking. Two Staffords of the same sex can be bad enough (be they 2 dogs or 2 bitches), two the same age & sex is almost always destined for disaster. ETA: I have raised Staffords of similar ages, what I did was separate them permanently at about 15 months when they decided to murder each other. I currently have two adult bitches about 6 weeks apart in age. Unless they are both on a leash each held by different people they are separated by a crate or a fence. I have previously had two males (both entire) who lived on the same property for 11 months and never once saw each other when at home - they saw each other twice, both times at dog shows, and lined each other up for the kill. Please don't do it is the only advice I can give you.

Why Don't People Pick Up After Their Dogs At Shows?
Sandra777 replied to TessnSean's topic in General Dog Discussion
I don't care if you put rubbish in my bin, so long as you don't show disrespect for someone else's property by stealing the whole bin like someone did recently You can drink from my outside tap anytime you like, but since I won't even let the dogs PADDLE in the water that comes out of it I'll get you to sign a waiver first OK? Which question do you want answered? -
It's a scam. or at least a fishing expedition for live email addresses

Do you like your car tyres to smell like dog piss? I know I don't! Don't be silly Miss B - apparently you can't smell it and you never touch your car wheels anyway I suspect BMP is taking the piss slightly ;) -
thats it I'd be more worried it won't contain the dog puppy you want

Seriously, you had no idea that people don't like dogs using their personal property as a toilet Train him to pee on command, or at least attempt to pee if taken to a spot and given the command. -
What newfies said, except I'd be inclined to do the trial before your engagement party - pick a weekend you're going to be home and not have much on - better than being all stressed out about him when trying to enjoy your engagement party! I've had boarding kennels & have Staffords. They can be very challenging to board because they are sooooo people orientated, so IMO choose a smaller kennel and take extra special care to inspect the kennels from the safety point of view. Most dogs don't really have issues with sleeping "in a cage" - so long as they're comfy and well fed.
-
If you want the pup to sleep in the kitchen then you're going to have to confine it there - it's perfectly natural for it to prefer to sleep with others, especially mum, as "in the wild" an 11 week old puppy would be no where near ready to be living independently
