Hi, I have a puppy buyer in Sydney who might be interested in trying her hand at showing. Would anyone have any further details or let me know who to contact in regards to learning more about the training at Castle Hill ?

I have had two successful frozen semen litters in the past 10mths. Same dog - first over a proven bitch, 6 pups the second on a maiden, 7 pups. I used Gerry King at Redbank Plains.

As Rebanne suggested, you need to progesterone test during the pregnancy and supplement with either progesterone tablets or injections if needed. I previously had a bitch who reabsorbed without intervention. With progesterone monitoring and supplementation we had two successful litters ( small litters but success all the same). Going forward from there we have just had a hassle free pregnancy and litter born from the only daughter of the bitch with fertility problems :)

Just seeking any advice or suggestions for a friend. The dog in question is a large breed dog and has not completely torn the cruciate ligament but has a partial tear. They have seen a specialist and the recommendation is for a surgical repair on not just the leg that has the partial tear but also the other leg as x-rays show some weakening there as well. As I have personally never dealt with a cruciate ligament issue before I am unsure of what other treatments or therapies that may be available to them. If anyone has ever dealt with this issue before I would love to know what you tried and what the success rates were?

I would be seeking the advice a repo specialist. I have had bitches ovulate late in a season and it doesn't seem to be a drama however cycling every 3mths is not ideal. Having had bitches with fertility issues ( of varying degrees) I sought advice from a few different vets, tried multiple things, often failed and went with my gut!! However, one piece of info I was given was from the guru here in Qld Dr Phil Thomas, he advised me that it was difficult with some bitches who cycle more frequently than 6mths as often those cycling evey 4mths or under may in fact ovulate although they are generally not ovulating fertile eggs. Of course this is not always the case and plenty of bitches go 4 monthly and never have issues but he felt it was the case in those females that do show signs of problems. Have you had her Thyroid levels checked?

LOL Stolzseinrotts! That pretty much sums up the response I got when I started to question a number of different vets about it. We don't have access to the vaccine here because it isn't a problem here! Well when hundreds of dogs every year are imported from countries that do vacinate for it and use the vaccine on bitches who have fertility issues, one has to question how the hell we wouldn't have it here. If you research Canine Herpes virus most sypmtoms are the same that people experience when refering to fertility issues in their bitches. With the ever increasing number of fertility problems, I can't understand why no one is doing anything about it. I was basically informed that if I wanted to push to have it looked into I would be best to contact one of the University veterinary schools and see if they would consider it a research project but that would only really be considered if I was personally prepared to throw tens of thousands of dollars behind it. In the meantime, we have to rely on progesterone supplementations and hope for the best. We got great success with it in two seperate litters although this particular female also had a litter sister who had fertility problems as well. She only ever once fell pregnant and it failed, no amount of prog supplementation could help her unfortunately. Prog supplementation, involves either tablets or injections ( tablets were the only thing that got us through our bitch reabsorb right through an injection supplement, she obvioulsy metabolised it too quickly). Weekly blood tests however some weeks we had bloods every 3 days and weekly ultrasounds to ensure the whelps were still alive and growing. Like I said earlier it was lots of hard work and added expense however it was all worth it in the long run. Probably worth looking into and talking with a reproductive vet before contemplating your next litter Cowanbree.

Have you tried monitoring the progesterone levels during pregnancy? We have had fertility issues with one of our past girls, she could fall pregnant but her body could not sustain progesterone levels throughout the pregnancy so we suffered many failed attempts with reabsorbtion at the 4-6wk mark. In the end we opted for progesterone supplementation. It was a lot of work and an emotional rollercoaster but the two litters she did have puppies were very healthy. I have often wondered and questioned about the Herpes Virus, however with apparantly no vaccine options available here I'm not sure how you go about tackling the issue. I had a lot of advice from European breeders whom all suggested the common use of the vaccine over there. With so many imported dogs coming into our country I can't see why it wouldn't be a possible issue for us here.

We did the 12 hour drive to Sydney Royal :) It was well worth it, our Dogue De Bordeaux did well across all the classes we had entries in, our stand out performance was our young boy of 17mths going Runner up Best of Breed. Even better we handled his litter sister to Bitch challenge! A big credit to their sire our imported boy from France and also following in their mummy's footsteps whom we raised/showed and co-owned was a Royal BOB and RuBOB winner herself. We were very happy campers!! We were thrilled to hear that the Dogue we went Runner up too also went onto to take the Group 1st. Big achievement for our breed and such positive recognition for a breed whose numbers in the show ring are constantly increasing and so is the quality of the dogs.

Yes it does however he wasn't born that way it was surgically removed which doesn't make him desexed or sterile either.

I have a tricky one, I would love to hear people's opinions though as it has been a decision that I'm really torn over. I have a dog that had to have a testicle removed. This was due to a random infection and was so severe it was a life or death decision. Obviously, we chose to have it removed and his health and well being come first rather than try to save the testicle for a potential show career. Would you show him now he only has one due to medical reasons or is it not worth the hassle??????

I am devastated as this outcome was my worst nightmare. We had held out hopes that if she was found she would be safe and well and just in some need of a little TLC. It is with a very heavy heart that I have to advise this was not to be the case. She was discovered in the Logan area where a person brought her into a local vet clinic in the Loganlea/Waterford area. Poor baby Orange was in horrific condition and went into cardic arrest upon our arrival at the vet clinic. She was clearly neglected and abused, septic from infection, extreme emaciation, covered in sores and riddled with fleas. We have photos for evidence however they are far too graphic and upsetting to post. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everyone's support over the past 3 weeks, thank you to the people who came forward with information and advice sadly this was not to be a happy ending. We urge people with information or anyone who may have seen anything in the Logan/Loganlea/Waterford/Beenleigh area to still come forward and assist us with the continuing Police investigation. No dog deserves to go through what our poor baby at just 13wks has been through, please help us bring her the justice she deserves. Unfortunately, we haven't had any solid leads or information come through Very frustrating. We are still on the look out and hoping wherever she is she is safe and that we get her home soon. Thank you all for thinking of her. If you live in or know anyone who lives in the immediate area Redbank Plains/ Springfield/ Camira area please still keep a look out. We hope she is still in that immediate area, if she is that's our best hope of ever getting her back. Whoever has her is probably keeping her under lock and key, but they can't keep her that way forever. All information no matter how small it might seem could be valuable.

No the local businesses have been cooperative. Sadly they don't have anything on their footage I can only hope that if she is still alive, try are loving and caring for her.

I am the owner and the breeder of this puppy. As like most breeders, pups are given collars, coloured ribbons and often knicknames in order to identify them from their litter mates. She was the orange collar pup, she has been knicknamed 'Orange' since the situation arose. So I guess one could say this is the puppy's name. Given some of the other crap I have seen on FB in the past 24hrs it doesn't suprise me that someone is now saying the puppy's name is fake or the puppy is fake......I don't think I have ever been so insulted in my life until I saw a posting asking 'isn't this the one asking for donations so they don't have to pay for the sick pups treatment'....seriously wtf. On top of that other message flying around saying she has been found. So let me clear a few things up: I am the breeder and the owner The puppy is the orange collared puppy from my litter - therefore her knickname is orange ( and she answers to it). She is still missing and we have not received any information despite how far the word has been spread We have NOT and will NOT ever ask for donations or financial assistance, nor do we need too.
