Help Teeth Advise Needed Please (updated)
Kingsleychi replied to Kingsleychi's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
It is the same size as her other canine.............buggar oh well guess my little girl will just have to do without. Thanks -
Ok so i come home, the insides of pillows spread all over the house, tree branches chewed everywhere. So i start cleaning up muttering under my breath this is the last time i give Roxy the chance to stay inside and wow i pick up a canine tooth. Have a better look around and there is blood spots around. Now i have dealt with this in pups before but Roxy is older. Now when Roxy came to me the vet estimated her age at just over a year. Is this to old to be losing a tooth? Especially a canine? Will it grow back? Any advice would be wonderful please

4 Legs Dog Food, Any Comment?
Kingsleychi replied to asukasani's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My chi's get it on the odd occasion and absolutely love it!!! If i was buying food for just them i wouldnt mind the price but they get what i buy Roxy with the occasion as mentioned before. Most of the supermarkets in Preth stock it from what i have seen. -
Roxy my beautiful baby (foster failure) has been a wonderful girl in her training and we have dealt with the chewing and destroying problems and have pretty much fixed them all BAR ONE............ We have this lovely tree that usually sits just by our front window, Roxy will just not leave it alone. She literally will sneak out of the room your in to go to the tree and chew it. We have tried moving it, fencing it off (she jumps over the fencing) and certain remedies people have mentioned like pepper, dishwashing liquid etc to no avail. No matter what she just keeps chewing this one tree, which by the way has still managed to grow so more amazingly. I am thinking as much as we love this tree maybe it is time to say goodbye and let it move on Unless of course anyone can give me some ideas of anything else we should be trying or who we can keep her away from it.

I'm with lillysmum on this one, has someone informed you to bath her weekly. My two longcoat Chihuahua's get bathed every three to four weeks and even then i use a very mild shampoo and conditioner as anymore bathing than that dries there skin horribly. As for flea treatments advantix is what i use and i always have a flea spray on hand. But i barely have to use it!!!

Anyone Here Feed There Dog Rabbit?
Kingsleychi replied to koolietas's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Ok guys not sure if this is a really dumb question but do you have to be careful when feeding feral rabbits you have shot. On the farm we always used the kangaroo meat from a shoot but never the rabbit. I figured it was because of the poisons used on some properties but the more i think about it now the darn things are still running around when you shoot them so wouldnt that meant the poison wouldnt be in there system. Sorry just wanted to get clarification on that one cause if they are ok to use ill be putting in a order the next time the boys go out -

Very Skinny And Very Pregnant Rescue Dog
Kingsleychi replied to Kingsleychi's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
No need for a flame suit as i know where you are coming from. But as the others stated the condition that this girl is in i wouldnt want to put her under any more distress or pressure than what is really really really necessary. And the pups will be fine, we have a wonderful bunch of people that will always look out for these guys and im sure we can find them wonderful homes once they are old enough. -
Very Skinny And Very Pregnant Rescue Dog
Kingsleychi posted a topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I orginally posted this is the breeders section but realised there are probaly quite a few people that arent breeders that could probaly give me some advice on this. We received in rescue on the weekend a heavily pregnant bitch that is oh so skinny. The poor thing was all bones and one big belly. I have been feeding her on the puppy diet with lots of fresh meat and covering it all with teh puppy milk but i was wondering if anyone knew of anything else i could feed her to get some weight on. I would say she is about the 59th to 60th day and im so worried that she will whelp and have absolutely no condition to care for the pups or herself. Any advice would be greatly appriciated. She is also one just over a year old hmmmm yes i know we are not happy and we have no idea what breed the father was. -
Thanks everyone for your replies. Have forwarded them onto my friend

I have had an enquiry from a friend who owns a pointer that the vet recommend be put of Glusocamine. Her questions was whether or not she could buy the standard stuff from a chemist and administer this to her dog in a smaller dosage. I'm completely lost on this one and i have had a look at the different labels but cant see much of a difference with ingredients and so forth. Could someone give me some advice of this cause i dont want to give her an answer without finding out the all the details.

Yes tuckertime is a brand!!! You can get it at most pet stores or from you local vet maybe. With the mince it needs to be of a good quality, also if you buy it from a supermarket (which i do sometimes) mix it up a bit, get some lamb, beef, chicken or even turkey (mine love turkey) and mix them. Then you can freeze it in portions.

I have my Chihuahua's plus two current pups on two different meals a day. 1. Is a mixture of grated vegies (carrot, potato, sweet potato, celery, pumpkin whatever you have availble) mixed with a good pet mince i buy from either lenards or a good butcher. 2. Is simple tucker time cut up very finely for them (finely because otherwise they carry the big bits everywhere to sit and chew on them and they arent fun when you step on them) Mine also have kibble available to them all the time but you can incorporate that into the mince mixture as well. They also receive chicken necks and wings in place of the tucket time every two-three days

My two Chihuahua's have completely reverted back to puppy stage. Since Skyla the chihuahua X rescue has come in the house they just dont bother going outside anymore. Its been so hard with Skyla because she has some brain damage and im trying to teach her to use the litter and outside is a bit far for her. But my two were doing so well the past couple of months and then all of a sudden im back to square one with them. Does anyone have any advice on what i could do both for my grown chi's and also helping Skyla get the hang of the litter as i have never litter trained a dog before
