If you have given him a choice between chewing and ripping his toys and not chewing and ripping them, and he choses that latter, then he has chosen that and what he choses is him being happy! If these "issues" with Bub are the biggest concern in your life be grateful, and maybe try to get a bit of perspective. You have a well behaved dog, you have been told this umpteen times, why keep trying to make it out to be a problem. You love the dog, yes, we get it, maybe time to smell the roses instead of analysing every little movement or non movement he does. Have you seen Best in Show, might help you see what people mean.

Give the lime a chance, it took a little while for mine to work, but it did, and we had a horrendous flea plague, which I have never experienced before. I thought it wasn't working but they are gone now, took a couple of weeks though.

Great barko as well, excellent for putting on weight and a good price.

There are external parasites, but no external worms as far as I am aware. -
Great Barko Dog Food
Are You Serious Jo replied to snoopy69's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
That is the only downside to it, the enormous amount of poo produced. But I have been using it for all mine since coming to Adelaide and it is great for those hard to get weight on dogs. -
Big hugs warls, to all of you.

Mason Pearson Brushes
Are You Serious Jo replied to Norskgra's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I have one packed away, my mother had bought two second hand not knowing they were the bees knees of brushes and when I saw them I snaffled them. One disappeared, but still have the other, don't use it right now but am keeping it. -
"failed" Sheepdog Perry Shows Her Stuff

Depends what state you are in as to whether you can put koolie on the form. In SA we have to get them accepted by the SACA via the koolie register or working dog registers so we don't have to put them on the associate registers as crossbreds. Looks like she is doing really well with those sheep, they looked calm and nicely grouped. Good luck with her future work, sounds like she has a good one ahead of her! -
Can Humans/dogs Pass Eachother Bugs/viruses
Are You Serious Jo replied to sugar's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
It can happen, when it does it's called a zoonotic transmission, the disease is called a zoonosis, like ringworm (a fungus). All it means is that the one virus or bacteria can use a multitude of hosts that include humans and at least one non human animal. Nothing to be overly worried about, we have lived with them for many years and they haven't bumped us all off yet. -
Breeds For Herding
Are You Serious Jo replied to fidelis Border Collies's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I should have qualified that the new sport part was for people who are new to sheep and trial through the ANKC, not the people who participate in trials with their everyday working dogs or the retired sheep farmers who do it. -
Breeds For Herding

I'm glad the ethics of a new sport is raised early on, can circumvent any potential problems that may arise later on. The welfare of the sheep has been on my mind as well, and I'll be doing my uttmost to ensure my dogs don't stress the sheep as much as possible. I realise that there will be some measure of stress for the sheep even with good dogs, but it's up to us as a whole to monitor things and not be afraid to speak up if we see things that we don't agree with. -
Breeds For Herding

This has been an interesting thread, but hasn't put me off. I'll be taking my koolie bitch to the training days, but I realise that she may not be suitable, as I don't want to stress the sheep. My Christmas present to me to celebrate getting back on track financially was a koolie cross heeler pup. She is from working parents and I intend to start her right and hopefully we'll both have a lot of controlled fun. -
Small spots of blood are probably faeces from the fleas, known as flea dirt, fleas chew dog, take in blood and some comes out and drops off. see your pet shop or vet for good flea control products. Other blood is probably from her coming into heat as she's not desexed, and as you have moved to twon, expect many dogs to turn up to mate with her.

Highly Aggressive Tibetan Spaniel
Are You Serious Jo replied to arianwen's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Given that the humans are not likey to change in this situation (but I hope they do) I would recommend PTS. If the humans could be trained to completely turn around their ideas on how to treat this dog then there would be hope, but if money is also a consideration they won't be getting professional help either probably. In an ideal world I'd agree that the dog could be ok with professional help and committed owners, but given the circumstances it doesn't look likely that will happen, and this is a time bomb waiting to go off. -
Vet Shocked At Me Giving My Dogs Vegies
Are You Serious Jo replied to sugar's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Do they not teach vets that dogs eat the gut contents of their prey as well and it contains undigested vegetation? -
You poor thing, not your fault at all, chances are both could have been killed if you hadn't of stopped. Can't believe they didn't stop :D
