Look What They Have Done To Our Dogs.
Are You Serious Jo replied to Sandy46's topic in General Dog Discussion
Don't forget those people who do real work with their dogs already have a pre-existing bias to dogs that aren't station bred or bred by a three sheep trialer. They have their set ideas about working ability without even seeing your dog work, I know this from talking to a number of them. The commands used (not the same words but the behaviours required) in ANKC trials are the same as three sheep trials and working farms. Apparently my coolie is useless because he doesn't work like a three sheep trialers dog, but he does the job very well at home. obviously I can show his as coolies aren't ANKC recognised but you bet I'd be showing and working him if she was. I had also never heard the term barbie collies before and find it horribly insulting. I don't think those who have working breeds they show and trial would be happy with that either -
Have you seen the size of esky's dog in person? Have you been to sledding? Have you seen the size of malamutes? You should give up implying esky is a bad owner for putting her dog in the back after sledding. I would challenge anyone who posted untrue things and I regularly do so you probably shouldn't feel so special

It's probably dangerous to have a giant breed right next to the driver in the front. I wouldn't be doing it even if it wasn't a ball of mud.
-
Give it up LM, you were wrong about esky so just admit it and stop having a go at her.

This is not going to end well  -
Stalking/herding Behaviour In Kelpie
Are You Serious Jo replied to Mogwai's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
A dog with strong drive won't switch off if given an opportunity to work, they just keep wanting to work if they find something they think needs moving. But giving them work is a way of teaching them commands for working and when to stop. -
LM, you don't know the situation with esky at all. The races are held during winter and if you had a muddy malamute or husky you wouldn't put them in the cab either!

Yes, owned was the wrong word, maybe responsible for all bills?
-
That isn't a huge bill, you can never assume donations will be made so you should always be able to cover them yourself. So does Ina belong to Kay's greys now? Is Kay responsible for her vet bills?
-
PR sent a dog down with ear mites and a UTI, that paperwork is never going to arrive.

Irresponsible People In Dog And Animal World.
Are You Serious Jo replied to LisaCC's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yep, they are good money spinners as well for them. If a purebred comes in with an issue they immediately say it's because it is inbred, a cross has the same condition it's just bad luck. There are very few vets who understand the dog world and their vet nurses give out a lot of misinformation as well. -
Yes, it seems that you should be only able to use them in an open paddock, nothing else. Did you see where they called them harmful implements
-
Yep its coming from Sydney Uni - same person who pushed PDE and this is just the beginning. This is why I've been so outspoken about people who post here from certain places, there is a monopoly on information being fed to others and it has the potential to do major damage, as we are now seeing.

I put links up to the guidlines and pages about a page ago, is that what you are after?

Cruelty Charges Against Underbelly Character
Are You Serious Jo replied to Curlybert's topic in In The News
Now what the hell is supposedly wrong with this one I've given up trying to get action on genuine cases but they suddenly have the people and money to do this sort of crap? Their standard excuse is not enough inspectors and the animal has food and water so nothing they can do so this just proves they have way too much power. -
It was on the national rspca site so I'd assume it is meant to be every state.

Adult dogs can be fine with one meal a day. Mine only get one feeding a day. 3am was just an example because someone said something about feeding at a ridiculous time.
-
I am really spoiled, mine would probably be starving before they complained about no food. I do like to keep dinner time a bit random because I don't like anticipatory behaviours. They are still genetically wolves and they didn't have a regular feeding time so I can't see what is wrong with variable feed times as long as there are no illnesses. Does it really matter if they get fed at 3am?
-
Hmmm, I'm pretty sure most of us can tell the difference between dogs and human children.
-
Routines can lead to stereotypies so it is good to vary things as much as possible. Yes there is evidence for this
-
Don't forget the working dogs themselves that will be regulated, not that they'll have to bother because they wouldn't be allowed near the stock anyway.
-
Yep, they have really lost their way. People with no clue making decisions for all of us based on what they think will be popular.
-
Now is the time to act because once they close to getting the laws changed there is no going back. I think there needs to be something prepared, I'm now on the herding advisory committee for SA so I'll be bringing this up next meeting.
