Pound Rounds
Are You Serious Jo replied to keetamouse's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Those who matter won't take any notice of the allegations because I can't imagine any reputable rescues taking the word of MN over the established rescues, but I am annoyed that they will be raking in a huge amount because of it. Hope she saves it because I have a feeling she might need it soon -
Wouldn't surprise me if greylvr turned up on the committee.

You've probably noticed my name is on the list and in a way what she has done is a good thing because it will hasten her end. You really don't want to attract police attention when some people have enough information to bury you and are welcoming the police interest. I'm not telling people what to do, but if you are so inclined scamwatch would be very interested in asking for $5000 for vet bills for poisonings that you can't provide proof of along with the NSW office of gaming, racing and liquor who administer their charity status. -
That's good that they have at least publicly distanced themselves. I know why I couldn't see her, she obviously has me blocked. I didn't want to hijack with PR stuff so only going to talk about their connection to NARGA.
-
For individuals I can see the benefit of having your hobby etc on a page separate to your name account, but why not just keep everything together if you are an organisation. People can still post on the wall of the main page.
-
I need some hints too because there are still a few names in PR I don't know. I did see our old friend Mr Batman on the main page.
-
Is that the page linked above, why do they need two FB pages, have they been to the MN marketing techniques seminars
-
Hard to imagine they would give a shout out to PR unless they were members.
-
The fact they shared that is very worrying. Don't worry, I know all about that story because I'm one of the people libelled all over the place. There has to be a dividing line and anyone on the same side as PR don't exist for me I'm afraid.
-
Thanks, what was the gist of their PR post?
-
What's the FB link to NARGA? An organisation speaking for rescue should consist of representatives from those in already existing rescues. I'd be suspicious of any group that suddenly appear out of nowhere and refuse to answer questions or be transparent about who are involved. If they have mentioned PR in any sort of positive manner then I'd run like crazy.

LOL. The same old crap from you. Hallucinate things in posts that arent there. Here's a plan - ring up HR at Guide Dogs Australia, give them your name and demand a guy in a grab from a newspaper article be sacked, hung, drawn and quartered. Come back and tell us what the response was. I'm wondering why you & your mates, haven't responded to Brookestars posts. I have a theory on why, but then I am a cynic. Really, you are going to start throwing around that? It doesn't matter what Brockstar said, I still feel the same, it was a tragic accident and I won't be calling for the guy to be executed just yet thanks.

Just because people don't pick up their pitchforks and build a pyre doesn't mean they can't tell the difference between a reason and an excuse.
-
I just don't think compassion for dogs and compassion for humans has to be mutually exclusive. No one has made excuses, they have given possible reasons though.

Leaving Dogs Tethered Outside The Supermarket
Are You Serious Jo replied to a topic in General Dog Discussion
I think it really depends on where you live and how big the shop is. Leaving a dog outside woolies in the burbs is very different to an IGA in a country town. -
Ok, who keeps leaving the door open and letting Dougie back in

Special Plea From Canterbury Pound

The new photos should really help, Oscar sounds like such a nice boy he deserves to be in a comfortable home. -
If that's in his contract of course, but it doesn't appear to be because they haven't said that in their announcement. So looks like it is a discretionary thing.

New Dog From Breeder.. Something Not Right......
Are You Serious Jo replied to mel121's topic in General Dog Discussion
Send a message that you will be taking the matter further if you don't hear from her within a certain time period. Have the information ready and tell her exactly what you are going to do so she knows you are serious. I'd be starting with small claims and I'd also advise her that you will be making a complaint to DogsSA. If she has been less than honest in the past she won't want more trouble. It's not fair to be told the dog is one thing but really turns out to be completely different. -
Sorry for going off the main topic, it lead there though and it seemed all that had been going to say was said. I guess for me it comes down to the guy's work record. If he had been squeaky clean and his work valuable then leaning towards not sacking, if he was known to be slack then yes, sack him.

Trust me on this, I know what it is like to have a dog be your lifeline I've recently had some really horrible things happen that have and will keep me on the edge of my sanity and I am making some significant lifestyle choices to keep my dogs, something not many people could do. I'm now living on my own with my dogs, my mother is like yours and the only family other than my adult kids I have is my brother. So I am coming from the same place you are. But even though they mean as much to me as Justice does to you I would instinctively and non-instinctively save a child over them. So I'm not saying it because I don't have a strong connection to them. On everyday things sure I'd choose my dogs over a stranger, but not life or death.

I know the good old days weren't always rosy but at least there wasn't the constant judgement and dobbing. Unless you see an obvious problem why interfere. -
I did ask you to elaborate and if I got it wrong but you refuse to answer so don't be surprised if people get things wrong. If you really do believe your dog should be saved over that of a child then admit it, if not tell me you weren't clear with how it was written and I am wrong. At least the others have the courage to say it, even if I don't agree with their beliefs they are not avoiding it once they bought it up. Debate is healthy but if you prefer not to talk about your posts I am confused why you post

I don't value humans over dogs. They are different species. It's not a question of equality. It's a question of what one values more. And my family, both human and canine, take precedence over any one else. If your personal system of ethics dictates that humans are more important, that's fine. But people are different and their sense of what's ethical is also different. Don't try and impose your values on others. I haven't come across any logical rationale for this presumed superiority of humans. It's always an emotional response. And one can't argue with emotions. I could give you a whole host of logical rationales for why one species chooses to protect members of their own species  You say you have human family, would you chose one of your own human family over your dog? That contradicts this above "I don't value humans over dogs." I assume if one of your parents were in danger or a sibling you'd save them rather than your dog?
-
But if you are in a disaster situation and you know things are dire you are still making a choice and if you grab your dog instead of the child you have chosen to let the child die. I think you know I don't mean you sit back and make a cup of tea cackling while the horrible brat carks it. I already know I'd choose human life over my dogs, partly because I know how I would feel if my family died because someone chose their dog over my child. Stranger or not a child is still a child and I couldn't live with myself if I picked my dog. My diving line is definitely there.
