Hi guys, I am just getting in to showing and trying to get prepared! I am 26yrs old and really have no idea what to wear...... No offence to anyone, but some of those show suits are hideous!! I live on the gold coast, so it is pretty warm, so not really wanting to wear suit pants and jacket... what do you suggest? Would love it if anyone has suggestions or photos! Thanks!!

I guess Bitza has been used for some good though. Apparently there was a dog seized due to Dangerous dog laws as a Pit Bull(seized on looks), and they did a Bitza test and it came back Golden Retreiver x Rottweiler, and the dog was returned to its owners! Thats good!!
-
I just sent my Bitsa test in for my chihuahua in my signature. I ended up with him after fostering - the person I got him off said they got him as a stray when he was about 4 months old, and they had him for 4 years, so no idea of the breed history. Some people tell me he looks pure chihuahua, others tell me his coat is too thick and tail too curly. So we will see what BITSA comes back as. Perhaps all the people that think he is my border collies puppy might be right, and he might be primary border collie. haha What do you guys think he is??? I think results will take up to 14 days, so will be sure to post the results when I get them back!!!

K9 Force In Queensland
Border Lover replied to Steve K9Pro's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Thanks so much Steve, it was another great day! Learnt heaps again. I am definitely signing up for the distance training in drive course this time. Do you think it will be ok for a 3yr old border collie? Nice to see all you DOLers again, the dogs were all so good considering. Isn't amazing how Steve sends out this alpha "aura" to the dogs and the aggressive dogs wont show aggression around him. Steve, I think you should move to QLD, it is much nicer here, and you will have HEAPS of business! hahaha -

People who complain about vet prices should stop wasting time and go and get pet insurance... If you really love your pets and worry so much about fees, then there is no excuse. You probably have car, health, life, house, travel etc insurance...... so why not pet insurance???????????????
-
I had a great time too!! Good to meet u guys! I'm all motivated again now! Have signed up to do the training in drive distance learning course. woo hoo! How amazing is Steve - oh my god.

Oh Seita - I just realised your girl is a Bojak!! So is Fly. hehe
-
These are awesome! My dog loves them. They fit in normal ball throwers, so they are great. Fly has eaten half of the rope hair off though hehe. We sell them at my work too, and most Greencross Vets sell them.
-
I guess I'll see you guys there then!! Very excited. Hey did anyone find out if it is NSW or QLD time??
-
I have a Brag!! YAY Fly got his JD title on Saturday and 1st place. woo hoo.
-
We finally built up the courage to enter our first obedience trial. And YAY, 1st place with 95/100 in CCD. and a quallie! Woohoo! I'm so happy right now.
-
Thanks everyone. I think I finally get it! hahaha I am new to trialling and just have these stupid questions!! Oh and I have a Brag by the way - We finally entered our first CCD trial and got 1st place with 95/100. Woohoo. 1 quallie down, 2 to go. (And then Novice Sweepstakes right??)
-
Thanks, I have read the rule book from start to finish and there is nothing in there about sweepstakes. I have started trialling in CCD and agility, but wondered why some of the trial advertisements say Obedience sweepstakes, and CCD is on the list.
-
Hi guys, just wondering if you can help. What is CCD Sweepstakes?? Is it just the same as CCD but off lead? or is it the same as novice? (is there a change of position or retrieve?) Does it count towards a title? Can anyone tll me the excercises in CCD sweepstakes? Thanks in advance

Lure Coursing Question
Border Lover replied to Border Lover's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Anyone?? -
Hey there all you lure coursing fans. I have taken my dogs a couple of times now, and I think they have had quite good scores!! (I am now addicted!) I was just wondering how the scoring works? How do you get a title, and what are the titles? How many points do you need to get to move up levels, ie. Novice, intermediate etc? Any info would be great. Thanks!

Help! Puppy Destroying Backyard And Am Worried For His Health
Border Lover replied to slinkyjill's topic in Puppy Chat
This is something that no one has mentioned, but I find it a real factor in destruction. DIET If you are feeding a food that has low retention (ie: ceral based products etc.) Then dogs tend to be hungry about an hour after they have eaten. It is a natural instint for dogs to go "hunting and gathering" for more food, and become destructive and will destroy things, dig, get restless so they might bark etc etc. If you feed a good quality diet, then the dog will be more settled and tend to sleep more, just as we do when we have had a good meal. Check the protein % in the food you are feeding. Its just something worth thinking about. Maybe it has nothing to do with this, maybe your dog just isnt used to your routine yet. I also agree with the other who have said confinement! Get yourself a dog run that is puppy proof and provide mental stimulation. Good luck!!! -
I find with toilet training its about being able to watch them 100% of the time, so u can catch them in the act. If she starts to go in the wrong place, make a loud noise to distract her, then pick her up and race her out to the right place, when she completes the "task" in the right place then BIG rewards. If you cant be watching her 100% of the time, then she should be in the area where she is aloud to toilet, so she doesnt have the opportunity to make mistakes. If she has the run of the house etc, she will get in the habit of going in the wrong place. If she is in the right area when she needs to go, then she will get in the habit of going in the right place. If you are having dinner etc and want her inside, but u cant watch her, then crate her. Dont forget to watch for all the times when she might go, like after eating, after sleeping, when excited, after play, when circling or sniffing. Catch her doing the Right thing, and ALWAYS praise when going in the right place. Good luck
