  1. Could your dogs legs be sore? When my girl didn't like her hind legs being touched our vet discovered she had muscle pain in her hind legs and neck. Some acupuncture and she was right as rain. Happened again about a year later and it was muscle pain again.
  2. Yep, I used them for years until we had to get rid of our second freezer and now I just don't have the freezer space for the meat. Never had an issue with the quality of the meat and found the price to be good. The first time I ordered I went out there to speak to the guy that runs it and he was really helpful and likes to talk dogs. I think he said he shows ACDs. The delivery guy is really nice too.
  3. Yep, a couple of years ago Sarge reverted to puppyhood and decided that toys were super fun. He has some special toys now that only he is allowed to play with. When you pull out his teddy or his pig he gets super excited! Around the same time, my friends GSP decided to have a mid-life crisis too and started behaving like a naughty puppy! I think they were planning it together.
  4. Great, thanks for the information CC! Looks like it would be a nice cold treat for a hot summer day!
  5. CC and Andy Pandy, the one is Osborne Park has Cat Haven cats there and they seem very relaxed in their enclosures. Everytime I've been, the enclosures have been clean and they are located on the opposite side of the store to the dog stuff so it's unlikely dogs will bother them. How much is the tripe at Pet Barn?
  6. Oh, the corgi one made me think of my dear old Lucy beautiful photos
  7. Kanae, I just thought I'd give you some advice as you are a future fluff owner. When Waffles has his adult coat, use conditioner when you wash. It makes a huuuuuuuuuuge difference! Managing the coat is so much easier and it tangles less. Also, the ear and leg feathering is easy to look after if you give them a quick brush each day, but you only need to do a thorough, whole-body brush about once a week.
  8. Waffles is so cute!! That photo brings back memories of visiting Ziva and Sarge's litters when they were tiny babies.
  9. It's not necessary to shave hot spots and there isn't much hair in the armpit area anyway. I use the technique my vet has been using for years and it works very well. You want to keep it as dry as possible so no creams or anything. Just dab with peroxide and wipe away any muck. Then dab with betadine to disinfect. It will dry up very quickly if you do this a couple of times a day. Once it scabs you have to make sure that scab stays on! One of mine will eat his scabs so has to wear a bucket collar if he has a hot spot
  10. Peter Alexander owns Dachshunds (or at least he did) so that's why the logo is a Dachie and he uses dogs so much with his pjs. The quality of the clothes he sells has dropped dramatically in the past 5 years while the price has gone up. I won't buy them anymore (even though he did some corgi stuff recently!) because they simply don't last.
  11. All our dogs get buried in our garden so we let the other dogs see the body before burial. They approach and sniff, then just walk off. I think they are aware the dog is dead, but have not seemed to mourn. Even when my dear Elle died, Sarge (who adored her since the day we brought him home) inspected her body and then just went about his day as normal.
  12. How about people who purposefully make their dogs overweight? My neighbours adopted a little mixed breed dog and I warned them that he would be able to squeeze out of their gate between the poles. They were adamant that he wouldn't and then he did it right in front of us. Their solution? Fatten him up until he can't fit through! I hate seeing fat dogs but would never say anything unless I knew the owners well, and then I would approach it in a very sensitive manner.
  13. My dogs can hear a banana being peeled even when they're outside and I'm at the other end of the house (and it's a long house)!
  14. I have taken on elderly dogs who were surrendered by their owner and in bad condition. I loved them like I'd had them their whole lives and they love you back tenfold. The two I took on were surrendered because their owner had a terminal illness and had realised that she could not look after them anymore. I imagine it took the owner a while to come to the realisation because of the condition the dogs were in, but I am sure they were still loved. If I was not aware of the circumstances then, I would have been fuming, just like the author, that two beautiful old dogs were obese with painfully long nails and matted coats. I think that the author of that letter was fueled by grief when she wrote it, and that had she known the circumstances of the previous owners then it might have been a different story. She makes a lot of assumptions that the previous owners knew of the dog's medical conditions, but maybe they didn't?
  15. I was very happy with a product called Cherry Knoll's Sure Foot (spelling might be incorrect). It's made for dogs in the show ring so they don't slip but it was great for my old girl with degenerative myelopathy.
  16. Don't use a furminator, they can ruin coats because they cut them. His coat looks gorgeous so just keep doing what you've been doing.
  17. I still don't know why that was even there! somebody gave it to my brother (it's actually a statue) and it became a garden gnome. Lucy was the kind of dog who would put up with anything but she'd show you how much it displeased her.
  18. Oh Cassie, I know how you feel! I'm on a Corgi group on FB and the majority of owners are in the US and shave their dogs. I bite my tongue about it and also about all the overweight dogs.
  19. The responsible thing to do is to abort the litter, whether it be by spay or injection. Does she have main register papers? If you are sure you can prevent future matings and want to become a responsible breeder then use the injection. If you do not wish to become a responsible breeder then spay her. It is not fair to make a puppy have a litter.
  20. Thinking of you and Joey :) Also hoping for good news!
  21. I am not afraid to walk my dogs but it is no longer an enjoyable experience. There are loose dogs everywhere and both my boys have been attacked previously. One is fine, but the other is scared so I have to plan my routes to avoid dogs as best as I can. Unfortunately I don't have magical powers to let me know when idiots will have their dogs running around out of control.
  22. If this does happen you can report the ad and it will be removed. Advertising for animals to breed with is against Gumtree's Pet Policy rules. It might be against their rules but there are plenty on there and if you report them it can take a day for them to remove it - plenty of time to get enough responses in the meantime. https://help.gumtree.com.au/index.php?a=add If you submit a ticket (link above) then the ad gets removed really quickly.
