I do not shave or trim the coat at all and have not had the infection spread :) The peroxide and betadine combo dries it so fast that there's no chance for it to get worse. In fact the only time I had to deal with hot spots spreading/becoming worse was years ago when I was following another vet's advice and using neocort. In my opinion, it wasn't drying out the wound so it wasn't healing fast enough and I guess the infection just took over the surrounding area.

Only you can really say if three dogs is better than 2; it's an individual thing. Perhaps foster a dog with a temperament you'd be looking for and see how you go :) My combo of 3 is great at the moment but 4 is my ideal. I'd probably only go up to 5 again if one or two of them were elderly.

Hot spot for sure! I have become very experienced in treating them over the years of corgi ownership and the method I use, which is very effective, is to clean with peroxide (dab away any gunk) and then apply betadine. Put a cone on the dog to restrict their access to the area. They dry up super fast and begin the healing process. No need to cut the fur. Found this method a few years ago after a great vet told me about it. She disagrees with vets prescribing creams like neocort because the wound needs to dry out and a cream is just going to keep it moist. It heals eventually with creams but keeping it dry makes the whole process faster. Obviously, choose the method of treatment you would prefer and if you do choose one and it isn't working, see a vet. I don't think hot spots need to see a vet unless they are a really nasty one. Bailey's looks pretty mild.

My old girl had DM and the best thing that helped her was regular acupuncture. She was fed a raw diet but I can't say if it made a difference or not.

I just scrape some out with a spoon and plop it on their dinner. If she eats her food with the oil mixed into it, I'm sure she will gobble up a solid lump of the oil.

You can create a "ticket" to report an ad on that particular site. It is against their rules for people to claim to be registered breeders when they are not. Perhaps create a ticket (you include the ad number) and tell them that you know she isn't a registered breeder and they should ask her for proof.

My old girl Lucy had DM but did not lose bowel control. In terms of her movement and strength, acupuncture was the best thing. She was having acupuncture fortnightly and the vet would also give her a massage and advise us on exercises for her. She would move so well, so sprightly, and be so comfortable after a session.

Take the dogs with you and go to Silver Springs in Margaret River! I love going there with my dogs.

It's just off Charles St, opposite DogSwamp shopping centre in Yokine. It isn't great; it's sandwiched between main roads so really noisy; nobody seems to pick up after their dogs because whenever we go there's tonnes of poo lying around; and a portion of the park is taken up by a kid's playground so sometimes there are kids there. I don't go there often, but when it's empty and there's nice weather, it's enjoyable.

Offtopic but Yonjuro, do you know what all the construction going on at the park is for? Today they were digging big holes with bobcats and had heaps of large limestone blocks lying around.

I didn't even see it until it was pointed out. MrsRR - that dancing corgi is pretty cute! There's also a funny one of a corgi "twerking". They may look cute but they are so smelly after rolling around in the wet grass and dirt this morning! Exhibit A:

The park in question is actually really good. It does have the airlock-type thing you describe and there is a sign which states, among other things, that any dog showing aggressive behaviour must be removed immediately. I don't remember if it mentions food. I would only take dog treats to a park where I am the only one there with my dogs. I leave when another dog shows up anyway but if I didn't, I would stop using the treats. I have been out with my dogs once and a fellow dog owner asked to give mine some treats. Thought it was very courteous and responsible of him to ask.

I think this is a question for a vet. From my experience, my dogs move their neck around a lot while chewing their bones, although it's similar movement to if they were drinking or playing with a toy etc. I, personally, don't think it would cause a rupture, but I am not a vet.

Hmm, the only thing that springs to mind is that the Cambridge council had plans to build a great dog area at Lake Monger a couple of years ago. They wanted to hear from the public so had flyers up around the area outlining their plan (including separate areas for small and large dogs) but then nothing ever came of it. I was there a week ago and there's still no park but perhaps they're planning it again? Although from your comment it sounds like they were talking about an existing park. This little one near ECU is pretty nice but there are still heaps of empty grassed areas surrounding it that they could turn into more dog areas. Unlikely to happen though, I think!

Is this the new one near ECU? I walked past earlier in the day but there were no iggies there at that time (I did see a Finnish lapphund though!).

I'm not in VIC, but I wouldn't rent out my corgis to anyone. I would, however, come along with a dog or two so your friend can have cuddles and then leave with my dog/s. Perhaps consider that as an option.

I have used them a handful of times over the years (rarely buy dry food) and have only ever had good service.
