Vallhunds are great dogs. My girl got along with every animal she encountered (except rats; she hunted them very well). I can highly recommend Sharon Donaldson of Ausled Swedish Vallhunds. She is so nice and will be happy to talk vall with you!

My boy had a little bit of dermatitis develop on one side of his mouth/lip and the vet suggested trimming the fur down and wiping with peroxide. I buzzed a small patch with clippers and wiped with peroxide every night and it's managed it really well. Noticed a difference after just a few days. Fur has grown back now and I still occasionally wipe with peroxide.

Perthies! The new Spud Shed that opened up in Innaloo has great food for dogs including green tripe. Can't remember how much it costs but everything else there is cheap. ETA I have also bought green tripe from The Pet Chef in the past. -
Greg Wilkinson at Subiaco Vet Hospital. Can't recommend him enough.

He's a beautiful boy!

One of my dogs hated having her nails clipped and adjusted to the dremel really well and now is very good if I do clip her nails. Another of mine was totally fine with having his nails done but after introducing the dremel he now doesn't like either (not a big deal, he just squirms). Interesting how every dog reacts differently.

You can get a pair of fairy wings pretty cheap (places like the reject shop will sell them). Daina has some fairy wings and she gets SUPER excited when she gets them on. Might have to make her wear them on halloween  ETA woops I misread your post (thought you said you were "out in the city") Do your kids have any dress-ups that you can alter to fit Josie?

Deb moved to Sydney though didn't she? Is she still traveling back to Perth and taking appointments?
-
That's the dremel I have and it's great. I totally recommend it.

Okay so I couldn't wait until alllll the scabs fell off so here is a 3 week post-op photo. I am amazed. This is the most appreciated vulva ever  I never thought I'd be so happy to see a nice, normal, protruding vulva  Oh and NO sign of her nasty dermatitis infection!! WOOHOO! And her cute little behind
-
Daina is stitch free! No more bucket, hallelujah! Will post a new photo once all her little scabs have fallen off.

Designer vagina!
-
Half the stitches are out and she's allowed to play! The rest come out Monday or Tuesday.
-
Yes and they're quite long stitches! She seems used to them now though and doesn't show any desire to lick or chew the area. Still has the bucket on if we're not watching her though.

Oh man, I want to do this with Daina but she's just had surgery! Maybe next year! -
Yep!! I've been using unscented baby wipes for years for my dogs. They're also great for cleaning up messy bums or wiping mouths after a messy dinner.
-
Photos from today (ten days post-op) Back to vet on Wednesday to snip some stitches :)
-
So in about 3 weeks hopefully Daina will have a normalish looking bum!
-
Wow that looks good! How much has her fur grown back at 1 month later?
-
Wow I feel like that's really strange that they didn't give painkillers and precautionary antibiotics. Sounds like Madison is in great hands with you though! :)
-
Ouch, she ripped two stitches out! I hope Madison's infection isn't coming back. Was she on antibiotics after the surgery?
-
The reaction is the pink skin and itchiness. He told me to keep an eye on her itchiness meaning note if it goes away or take action if she stays itchy.
-
Bruising? What bruising? Day 6 post-op and bruises are nearly gone. Vet did comment yesterday that her tummy and thighs where she was shaved is pinker than normal so he thinks she's sensitive to clipper rash and I can just keep an eye on her itchiness. All that dark gunk is scabbing which has started to flake off today. Having her daily dose of liquid malt extract
-
Vet says she's healing better than expected! Very happy with everything. He said the bruising was because the surgery involves a lot of prodding under the skin with blunt-end scissors. Unfortunately she can't wrestle with the boys or play hard until stitches are out. Back to the vet's in a week to check again and snip just a few stitches and then we'll see about when all the stitches can come out. He said she's had "a facelift at the wrong end"
