This picture just about sums up the afternoon! The handsome little man is George, don't know what breed he is but he is such a friendly boy, loves cuddles Ziva's on full blast!
-
Well tonight the three dwarfs got taken to the dog park and it went very well! They were all kept on leash just walking laps while the other dogs had a chance to approach and say hello. After a few laps they were allowed off-leash and Ziva just kept running in huge circles SO fast! She had so much energy it was amazing! She didn't seem scared of any of the dogs and played with a little white boy for about an hour Her tail did go between her legs when an overenthusiastic GSD came running to play but she didn't run away which is a good improvement. Hopefully she will keep this up!

Thank you so much Trehilyn! In regards to speying her, our vet said to wait 3 months after her heat because blood flow is still increased to her ovaries (I think thats a bit long?), would now be a safe time? We always have her with Sarge when she's out on walks and shes very willing to do whatever he does, although theres still hesitation when approaching dogs. Would you say if she hasn't gotten over it in a certain time period to consult a professional?

Jibwa sure is a cutey Scared of big old Simba, pfft!

Her heat started on Feb 4th and ended around the 28th/29th. So 5 weeks ago. We first noticed her behaviour changes about 3 weeks ago.

Howdy I have a problem and I'm not quite sure how to go about correcting it. Ziva is our 10 month old female corgi pup (not desexed yet as she came on heat and vet advised us to wait a little while after her heat finished) and she has lately been acting out of character. She was well socialised as a puppy and we haven't stopped socialising her, yet when she meets new dogs in the past few weeks she is terrified of them. She is naturally a submissive dog but she is full of beans and LOVES other animals. Yet taking her to dog parks, just walking her and meeting new dogs, going to friends houses etc, she runs away, whimpers and snaps at any dogs coming near her. This is even towards dogs she has been playing with regularly at the park since she was 3 months old. She hasn't had any negative dog experiences except walking under a greyhound and getting stepped on. I can't account for her change in behaviour at all? Any help would be extremely appreciated as there's nothing nicer than seeing my dogs having a great time with other dogs

I don't have photo shop so these were done in PhotoStudio5.5 and Picasa 2. This one didn't turn out well, pretty hard to do the fur properly I really like this one Justin Shekoski from Saosin (favourite band )

Thanks everyone. Just wanted to make sure they're ok.

Mum bought a different brand of sardines today (cheaper than others) but they are in vegetable oil. Can the dogs eat this? Should I try to rinse the oil off?

I've followed this thread but haven't posted before because I just don't know what to say. When I was 7, one of my close friends died of cancer, she was only 6. I've lost friends and animals I've loved before but to lose a child.. I can't imagine what Page's family are feeling. My deepest sympathies to Page's family. Every time I see the title of this thread I feel sad and want to cry. Poor Page, RIP, your new friends at the bridge will look after you and you can look over your family, they will never forget you and I'm sure Pete/Jet is waiting for the day he can see you again. Ambervale, Siv, every member on DOL is an angel and I think you are all wonderful people. Imagine what the world would be like, full of DOL members I have been part of a study group that aim to find answers to ashtma and cancers linked to childhood since I was an embyro and I just wish that somehow this research could save the life of a child. You did not deserve to die Page. Your family loves you and so does DOL. May you rest in peace and look after all the precious animals with you. If you see a rabbit called Smokey, tell him I say hi and that I miss him dearly. Mim

I went to Northern Suburbs and I have to say I didn't enjoy it at all. There is no shade during the classes and even though it's morning it can still get quite hot for you and your dog. I only met 2 nice trainers during the 6 months we attended. Some trainers just assumed they knew everything about some breeds like kitakins' example. The nastiest trainer enjoyed putting down a little girl (11 or 12) when she couldn't recall her dog, told her she was doing everything wrong and that she's too young to have a dog. Very harsh when you could see the girl was trying her best. Like kitakins I just used what I learnt and trained Sarge at home, he knows a range of tricks and is a very obedient dog.

I've got an old girl and she never used to go on regular walks but when I got my puppy and we saw how active and playful he got her, she started going for walks each day. Now, she's been going on walks at least 4 times a week and although she's still overweight, she has lost almost all signs of her arthritis, she's acting like a puppy and running with other dogs at parks and even playing with toys. She just seems so much happier and she can also cope with the heat a lot better now (don't know if that's because of the exercise?). Start Jasmin off slowly and after a few weeks you'll see big differences

Thanks Aziah. Sarge is a very fit dog and has a strong muscley body and he doesn't look too fat or too thin so I'm happy.

Hijacking Bikles thread Aziah, what would be the maximum weight for a corgi fully grown (are they fully grown by 15 months?) if they are big boned? Sarge definetly weighs more than 12kgs but not sure by how much (going to the vet again at 5, re:his stitches, so will weigh him properly). You can feel his ribs easily and from above you can clearly see he has a waist. Back to Doug, Has he been vomiting at all? Other than the saliva? Maybe he has an upset stomach? Or MAYBE you were just blessed with the fussiest corgi in WA? And also, do you add fish oil to his food? When we did the dogs wouldn't touch their food, so now they have capsules instead.

I'm not sure what you should do but to stop giving him choices sounds like a good idea. Our dogs get petfare and they gulp it down. If you go on their website you can order a free sample to be delivered, but this is just giving him another option. http://www.petfare.com.au/ Doug looks perfectly healthy. I haven't weighed Sarge in a while (vet weighed him when he got desexed but I didn't ask) and he feels like he weighs more than 12kgs but I'm not sure. You can easily feel his ribs and he has a defined waist, tummy tucks up slightly. Hope he starts eating well soon. Will he eat bones?

Fidos Oatmeal And Baking Soda Shampoo

Has the cat been diagnosed?? No these products will not treat "mange" they contain no insecticidal ingredients. There's a stray cat that's decided to live in my garden recently and I think she has really bad fleas because she will scratch like there's no tomorrow, giving herself cuts and hairless patches on her body. Do you think these shampoos would help her itching? I've given her a flea treatment but she hasn't been to the vet. Sorry for the hijack frufru -
