Ziva is buried in our garden and like newfsie, the only problem we had was Sarge lying on the grave for a week.

I haven't played around with any editing yet so some are a bit dark. There are more of the dogs in the corgi thread.

Whatever happened to "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all"? I've had lots of nasty comments about my dogs. Mostly about their tails and NOBODY has believed me when I say that natural bobtails are a genetic possibility and not made up

The dogs got the octopus one for Xmas and promptly destroyed it Daina is the main destroyer but the boys help too. That didn't take her long. There is A LOT of stuffing in them, I picked up so much. They have decided to leave the tentacles intact and it is their FAVOURITE toy. You can't sit down without Daina dropping it at your feet or putting it on your lap. Often her and Mud will be lying down face to face and in the middle of them is the toy and they are just having a nice time chewing on it. If you imagine a de-stuffed octopus toy with the inner circle totally gone and just the ring of legs - that's what they've done

I have been in a few different situations as a puppy buyer. The first time we met Sarge was at 3 weeks old. We met his dam first and the sire was pointed out to us (he was busy doing zoomies outside so we didn't disturb him ). Then we got to cuddle a few of the boys in the litter while the dam watched (she didn't mind). When we went to get him at 8 weeks the pups were in a pen outside and mum and another bitch (Daina's dam) were inside and we had a cuddle with them first and spoke about some test results. Then we went outside to meet the pups again and mum stayed inside. When we brought Sarge inside the 2 bitches were put outside. With Ziva, we again met the litter at 2/3 weeks old. The dam was in the room and let us get close to the puppies. Then when we went to pick up Ziva it was at a vet clinic as the breeder lives on a property very far away so she arranged for a room at her chosen vet clinic. The pups were all in a pen and the dam was watching on outside of the pen. With Daina she was crated inside and Sarge's dam and her dam were outside but came inside when we got there. The breeder knows we are crazy about Sarge's mum, she is just fabulous, and so knew we'd want to see her again. Then Daina was let out to sniff around and meet us and her mum hung out for a while and decided to go outside again. With Muddy, he was crated outside and his sire and dam were running around outside. When we went outside he was let out and had a play with his parents. His sister (the pick) was kept inside. I don't think I'd think anything of the dam being separated from the puppies. As long as I get to meet the dam, I do not mind if she is with the puppies or not.

Yay mud! "What? Mud? On my legs? Noway!" Our pup is called Muddy (after Muddy Waters) and unfortunately he lives up to his name

I used Sards for the first time yesterday and it was better than I expected. The white sections on the dogs have come up so WHITE!

How Much Is Your Local Diy Pet Wash And What Is Provided?
Mim replied to ~Shepherd~'s topic in General Dog Discussion
$10 for 10 minutes at a vet clinic near by. Normal shampoo Flea and tick Dark coats Light coats Sensitive skin I think there was a conditioner available too Dryer We went when it had just opened and the owner was keen to hear our feedback. We said it was annoying that if you wanted to buy more time you could only do it in $10/10minute allotments. Not "I need about 3 minutes so I'll put in $3." After the time is up you get 30 seconds or maybe a minute, to rinse the tub. I think they've changed what shampoos they have now. -
Valley I LOVE your new sig. Linc looks absolutely stunning in that photo

Go for wooden floors We have wood and tiles and both have good and bad aspects for dogs. Tiles are a wee bit slippery for the dogs and very dangerous for them if they come in the house wet, especially if you have a long-legged dog. My corgi barrels would just roll if they slipped but a lab we had over did the splits and took a tumble but didn't hurt himself, luckily. But they don't show up dog hair if you get a colour that matches the dog and are super easy to clean. Hard wood floors that have been properly finished are better in my opinion. Not slippery so no danger, they look better and ours only have a few scratches from furniture being moved carelessly. The dogs have done no damage and I can't actually see how maintained dog nails could scratch floor unless it was realllllly soft wood. Also super easy to clean and if you have a brown dog the hair won't show up!

My dogs get 2 fish oil tablets in their dinner every day and they have lovely coats. My tri boy has such a shiny coat, we get a lot of nice comments that boost my ego You could also try flax seed oil in capsule or liquid form.

Yep I do the same as Jed. I am buying a soft crate just because the pen that I have is awkward to set up and too small anyway but I need something to confine the dogs if needed (post desexing, if feeling unwell etc). The corgis are all crate trained because their breeders did so.

Daina has quite bad attacks of reverse sneezing during heavy exercise, if she eats too quickly, or if we are walking on a grass oval. I find what helps her is just to gently stroke her throat downwards and then block her nose so she breathes out her mouth. Strangely if we give her an antihistamine before a walk, she hardly ever has an attack and if she does it's only a for few seconds instead of a few minutes.

You're telling me! It was 40 degrees yesterday and bloody Daina was outside sunbathing!

Everyone just "knows" that Daina is a girl. She definitely thinks she is a princess. I think she looks very feminine. Muddy has been called a girl once but that's because I had Daina's pink harness on him Now that he's older I think he looks masculine. Even with his gorgeous long coat. Sarge is confusing. I think he looks like a boy but if he is out walking with Daina, everyone thinks he is her mum. If he is with Muddy or Elle or on his own everyone thinks he's a boy.

Wow mirawee!! I am so jealous and my water babies are too!

Ooo really? Must have walked past them last time I was there but I will go check them out. Yep at the Bedford store they are near the shampoos and supplements but not sure where in the other stores. I think the standard price is around $50. Also for clotting a cut quick you can just use corn flour. I've used normal flour for the one time I snipped a nail and it worked just as well

BB - I have seen dog first aid kits at City Farmers. I've seen small ones with essentials in it and then bigger ones with lots of extra stuff.

I bought flea treatment from pricelesspets for the first time last week and am very happy with their service. Way cheaper from them than what we've been paying at vets/pet supply stores and it's the cheapest place for Frontline Plus that I could find on the net. Delivery was super quick too (and I'm in Perth).

I have done. I'll be back this year for proofing so we're trial ready . http://www.midlanddogtraining.com/ I'm planning to enrol next month as we're moving up to the hills soon. If you see me come and say hello, I'll be the harrassed looking women with the mad Lakeland Terrier who wants to play with everydog or person in sight I will be there with my blue merle collie too! he will be the one completely obsessed with any round object and I will be smiling hoping noone realised we have no idea what we are doing I might be joining with me training Muddy and my younger brother training Daina. I'm still checking out other obedience clubs though so if anybody has recommendations? I won't go to northern 'burbs training again because I didn't like it when I took Sarge and the classes are huge. ETA I'm in metro perth but willing to travel for a good club

For those who go to/have been to midland dog training club - is it quite dark or is the oval well lit?
