  1. Just want to thank westiemum and yonjuro. Since reading this thread I've been adding water to my dogs' bowls when I feed them and they gobble it up! I have been giving them a bowl of very diluted lactose free milk every day since Muddy had a urinary issue earlier in the year and this is such an easy way to increase fluid intake further. Thanks!
  2. I only go if they are empty and leave as soon as somebody else shows up. I can control my own dogs but I can't control other people's and there are too many irresponsible owners around.
  3. http://www.dogswest.com/dogswest/Breeders_Search.htm Might be some here that aren't on DOL. Not all breeders are listed on DOL or the club website. If you contact the club I think they can give you details of more breeders. You could also ask the breeders you speak to if they can recommend any other WA breeders.
  4. Oh Rascal, that poor dog! I hope you can help the dog recover from the trauma. A neighbour's dog went to a groomer and came back very scared and took a few days to get over it. They never went back. On the topic of bad groomers, a "groomer" at the sydney dog lover's show shaved a corgi as a demonstration on how to "properly" groom a double coat
  5. You only want between 3-5% curcumin for a dog. Too much for an extended time can cause issues (from memory liver damage, as BC Crazy said).
  6. We got the cat pee smell too, scottsmum. I am eagerly waiting for my ceylon cinnamon to arrive. Out of three dogs, all pembrokes, one didn't develop the smell, one did quite strongly and the third...well sometimes I think I smell it and other times I'm not so sure so maybe he developed it mildly.
  7. I got mine from here http://www.bulkspices.com.au/index.html
  8. OH MY GOD, CC! Okay I have been trying to remember this kids' show for YEARS and nobody I described it to ever remembered it and googling was no help. I can't believe I know what it's called now! Off to watch on youtube and relive a part of my childhood. Thanks!
  9. They are so gorgeous! How many hours today did you spend watching them?
  10. Mim, that is not green tripe, but bleached tripe which has next to no nutritional value. Apparently it is against health regulations for green tripe to be sold where meat for human consumption is sold . Does anyone know of anywhere NOR Perth that sells k9 Naturals frozen green tripe please? I only ever see the freeze dried one in places like City Farmers. Oh woops. I don't feed it so wasn't aware.
  11. I regularly see tripe in the section of fridges for dogs stuff at the spud shed in innaloo.
  12. Pernaease has the same ingredients as Sasha's blend but much cheaper. I'm starting all my dogs on golden paste (waiting for the turmeric to arrive). Make sure to research first and ensure you have the right ingredients and that the turmeric won't interact negatively with any medication your dog takes.
  13. I have a 6, 7 and 10 year old. Dinner around 5/6 and they're shut in the bedroom usually around 10 (but have usually taken themselves to bed earlier than that). Very rarely does one need to go out during the night. We get up at 7.
  14. Joey an adult bull terrier miniature weighs a lot more than ten kilos. My friend's girl is small for a mini (lots of bully people comment on it) and weighs closer to 20kg.
  15. http://www.boomerangtags.com/page.php?c=collartags&k=h Excellent quality and customer service.
  16. When my old girl's back legs were going she struggled on our tiles so we put mats down and I bought a product called Cherry Knoll's Sure Foot. It's like a balm that you rub on the paw pads. I applied it 2-3 times a day and it was excellent. I bought it online.
  17. At 8:30 every night Daina takes herself to bed.
  18. The right Vallhund could suit. If you think a Vallhund might be good for you, McMiffy, I recommend you have a chat to Sharon Donaldson. She is happy to talk dog and can give you really great advice on whether or not a Vall would suit you.
  19. A laid back Pembroke or Cardigan Welsh Corgi could be suitable, if you're prepared to deal with hair being everywhere, all the time. I say laid back because you can get some that are very energetic, but if you find a good breeder and express that you will provide a walk per day (plus playing/other stimulation?), they will be able to pick a suitable puppy.
  20. Swedish vallhunds have a reputation as being stubborn. So do corgis, but comparing my corgis to my vallhund, they aren't stubborn. A Pembroke Corgi would jump through hoops for a piece of lettuce or a "good dog". My vall would think about it and then decide if it was worth her time
  21. Corgis aren't at risk. Plenty of Pembrokes being bred around the world and Cardigans seem to be gaining popularity steadily. This information came about a while ago and Corgi breeders explained that it is not the case when you consider numbers in other countries.
  22. Can you please give me some links to information about this? Keen to read more as I am considering putting my dog on Vit C due to bladder issues (pH is too high - Vit C can apparently bring it down) but haven't come across any warnings like this.
