  1. Perhaps you could get your veterinarian to ring up a dental specialist, particularly if they are not feeling confident about treatment. As I explained earlier that is a similar story to what I was told about my pup when I went to see the local vet- i had him ring up and talk to Christine http://www.sydneypetdentistry.com.au (her number is at the top of the page), but I know the guys at this practice are also wiling to give advice- http://www.animaldental.com.au/endodontics.html (I linked to a page with some diagrams that show what will happen). I know Christine is happy to talk to pet owners as well on the phone so that their dogs can have pain free mouths. Thank you very much, Jumabaar. Going to look into it :)
  2. Rappie, he did say it could never get infected, or it could get infected in a week or a month or a year. The way I understood it was there is a chance the nerve with be "active" and get infected, or it will dry and shrivel up and not get infected. If you had a patient with this damage would you advise removal? I think I might speak to another vet.
  3. Yay, mine is here! I am SO chuffed because I got the fox wubba friend which is the one I reaaaaaaally wanted (corgis look like foxes!). I bought the holee cuz, one wubba friend, a tugga wubba and the chewguard donkey. The holee cuz is a hit but I don't think it will last long, the rubber is very soft. The tugga wubba was a replacement for one I bought last year as it was a big hit, but they've changed the design and now they have rope wrapped around the middle instead of just canvas material, my dogs don't like it as much as the previous one. The wubba friend is their new favourite toy  The donkey is for the "future puppy" stash which I've been adding to for years. Sarge desperately wants it so I might have to buy him his own
  4. We've been to the vet and Muddy has some painkiller + anti inflammatory tablets and some antibiotics. Because not a lot is exposed the vet isn't rushing to remove the tooth as it's a big one with three roots. He's to eat soft food for 2 weeks and then back to his normal diet and if we see any swelling or signs of infection, then he will have it removed.
  5. My 13 year old was taking Pred and was urinating all over the place after starting it. We put it down to her degenerative nerve disease as she was losing control of her legs but maybe it was due to the Pred? Interesting question.
  6. Thank you for your reply, jumabaar, very insightful. I think I would opt for removal rather than capping as he is a very sensitive dog and if the cap did come off, I wouldn't want to put him through it again. He bounced back really well from his desexing op a couple of years ago so I am sure he will be fine with surgery if he needs it. He is 3.5 years old and I am very proud of his teeth. My 4.5year old and 7 year old get complimented on their teeth too :D One proud owner here. I put it down to a good raw diet. Inevitablu, sounds like one tough dog!
  7. I was wondering how good the caps would actually be. He really doesn't seem fussed by it at all but I am worried about infection. Did you have any other issues with the tooth?
  8. While cleaning the dogs' teeth today I noticed that Muddy has damaged one of his rear teeth. Off to the vet tomorrow to see if it needs to be removed or capped. Has anyone had experience with something like this? What was the result? And roughly how much does capping or removal cost? Now that I think about it, he has been eating his dinner slower recently. Sorry for the poor quality of the photo
  9. You should ring your local post office to confirm incase it is not a nationwide policy.
  10. I was in the Post Office the other day and an Aus Post employee told a customer he had 1 month to collect his parcel.
  11. I hadn't received anything either, leopuppy, so I emailed them and then got sent the tracking information but it doesn't work
  12. I hadn't received anything from Clean Run after my email receipt so I emailed asking if my package had been posted (my account says it was shipped on the 23rd). Got a reply with a tracking number but it doesn't work I want to know how close it is, I love playing the "where is my parcel" game.
  13. ST I already looked into that but the response has been that they won't take open bags of food.
  14. Does anyone here feed or know of somebody who feeds Hill's u/d? I have an opened bag sitting here going unused and would really like it to go to a dog who needs it. It's free and whoever picks it up can get corgi cuddles :)
  15. I would but only if I got what remained cremated and given back to me.
  16. Western Australia - Margaret River - Cowaramup region I highly recommend Silversprings Cottages for anyone wanting a holiday with their dog/s :) http://www.silversprings.com.au/index.html Cheaper than most other places we looked at, pets stay free and are allowed inside, fully fenced secure verandah, spa bath, king size bed, great views and in a great location to do touristy things around the south west. They provided us with a big folder full of information about places to go and which places are dog friendly.
  17. Can anyone review the holee cuz? Do dogs just chew into the holes and ruin the ball or do they last a while? Also, the crackle head cuz, do dogs really like them? I don't think mine have ever played with plastic bottles.
  18. One of my dogs had all those symptoms late last year except the incontinence. He would whimper during the night because he was so uncomfortable Took him to a vet who does chiro and acupuncture and he was good as gold after one treatment. He'd done something and hurt his neck and as a result had been tensing all his muscles to compensate and had lots of muscle pain.
  19. Where does everyone get their Livamol from? Any online recommendations?
  20. Thanks Raffikki, I didn't even think to check the shire website!
  21. Anyone know of dog friendly beaches in Margaret River? If you have any "must visit" places I'd be happy to hear them too :) Taking Sarge down for a holiday and the owners of the place we are staying says there are dog friendly beaches nearby but hasn't said where and I'd like to do a bit of planning.
  22. I've just recently started using Sure Foot to help my old girl on our tiles and wooden floors. It definitely makes a difference. I apply it a few times a day, there are no instructions on the container other than to rub it in but I find she loses grip by the evening if not reapplied.
  23. I think dog parks can be good if they are monitored by a ranger. I realise that whoever deploys the rangers would probably rather spend the money having the ranger do something else though. My local dog park used to have a ranger "supervising" every day at the peak time (after school lets out at 3, until around 5). People seemed to try and control their dogs much more because the threat of getting in trouble with the ranger was always looming. Our council offers goodybags which the rangers hand out when they see an owner doing the right thing (training, picking up poo, walking on lead etc). They also have free dog training and a walking group where people can get together and walk their dogs in company.
  24. I have one corgi out of the 6 I've had in my life with a back problem. Although, her problem is not caused by her conformation, it is a genetic disease which can affect numerous breeds including German Shepherds and Dobermanns. I think it's very sweet that the Queen, despite being an extremely busy person, sets aside time to feed them every day and doesn't leave it to somebody else.
