Bowls - Non-slip, Dishwasher Proof, Big Enough For Labs
Mim replied to Katdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've got these bowls. Be aware that some dogs will develop pimples when eating out of plastic bowls. Metal or ceramic are recommended. One of mine recently got pimples and changing to a metal bowl fixed the problem quickly. The moda bowls are quite heavy and even though they're non-slip they do move around a bit. They're very very durable though. I've dropped them so many times on tiles, brick, wood floors etc and they're totally fine. -
Misteri are you getting a Ptolomy baby?

http://www.welshcorgi-news.ch/Leseecke/InfoCorgi/Bluies_eng.html Webpage about dilute/blue corgis in both Pembrokes and Cardigans. I was re-reading about how corgis were used to introduce the bobtail gene to boxers and it was very interesting to read that the white gene in boxers is different to that in corgis. Breeding a flashy boxer to another flashy boxer can result in boxers with too much white (even completely white). Yet in corgis, flashy mated to flashy rarely produces pups with too much white (and fully white is even less common). I just thought it was so interesting as it hadn't occurred to me that there would be different genes involved, since the markings are very similar in boxers and corgis, I'd just assumed it was the same gene at work.

If the issue is that the pup would be sleeping right next to the cat's scratching post then why not let the pup sleep inside somewhere else or move the scratching post? To make sure your cat always has a nice "dog-free" area he can go to, a good idea is to use babygates. This way the cat can go through the gaps in the gate or jump over while the dog will not be able to.

Possibly a silly question, but erny, will calendula tea stain fur and/or skin yellow? I've always thought it would be a good thing to keep on hand for my itchy boy but don't want his coat going yellow.

RS, where did you get the broom from? I've never been able to find one. -
I tried calamine lotion on a recent hotspot and was very pleased with how quickly it dried it up. Calamine is soothing too so nice for the dog. How is Louis, CC?
-
Bit of a late reply but I feel like an old hand when it comes to hotspots. Come humid weather, I have to be vigilant with my guys. Muddy also will get them as he has (suspected) seasonal allergies and will chew himself and then the hotspot bacteria just flourishes in his thick coat. Daina is the same with a flea allergy. My experience has been that the cream the vet prescribes (Neocort) is not good for hotspots as they need to dry out, and cream keeps them moist. My method of treatment, which has always worked, is to dab with peroxide and follow up with betadine. Put a bucket collar on the dog and check the hotspot regularly to make sure it's drying and not expanding. They heal very quickly and I often catch them early so the dogs aren't in buckets for too long. I would be concerned that the tshirt (although light) would keep the moisture in the wound and that Louis would just nibble through the tshirt to satisfy the urge to scratch the itchy wound. If you go to the vet, the one thing that really helps is a steroid injection as it breaks the itchiness cycle and seems to speed up the healing. I have some tablets on hand for Moo's allergies and will give one when somebody gets a hotspot :)

Excellent photos! She looks beautiful against the blue of the pool. My water babies look crazy when they're playing in a pool but Zora manages to look gorgeous!

Yup, Lici, that's long enough to warrant chasing it up with clean run. Send them an email with your order details, they're very friendly and reply quickly. -
Both corgi breeds are good dogs for rough play (they were bred to herd cattle after all) and very easy to train as they love to please. They love training without getting overexcited.

I bought a pack a little while ago (along with the kangaroo ones) and my dogs ate them with no issues (and absolutely loved them!) :)

Really sorry, RV. It sounds like you were the perfect person for him to share his life with. R.I.P. Toby

Find a good doggie acupuncture person. My old girl had DM and she was having regular acupuncture sessions which helped her SO much. Your boy probably wouldn't need to go too often as he is in the early stages. My acupuncture/chiro/physio vet who was treating my girl taught me stretches to do with her legs and suggested exercises like swimming and walking on sand. Get your hands on some Cherry Knoll Sure Foot ointment if you have wooden/tiled floors. He will begin to lose grip and this product is incredibly good to give dogs grip on slippery floors. I found that boots were way too bulky for my girl. -

I found the cloud collar did not work for my dogs as they could easily reach their back ends and tails. I also thought the product was poorly manufactured as the seams started coming apart after very little use and the loops which you feed the collar through rip off at the seams. -

Mine was in NY for ages too and then all of a sudden in Australia! I don't think they update the tracking to say when it's left NY, only when it's arrived and been processed. At least, mine didn't. So yours could be in transit to the country, rather than just having a relaxing holiday in NY
