  1. Here is what Emilio looks like wth his sore lips, poor little possum (he has big lips normally so they ae not swollen, although it looks like they are - that's his normal lip size :-) Do you mean he is calm, or trying to get calm? I think it could possbily be habbit, where can I get paw paw ointment from? We use Stainless Steel & Concrete Bowls. They have hundreds of toys (literally they have a huge toy box full which they manage to scatter around the house daily - I am trying to teach them to put them away when they have finished playing with them - fat chance), they have not had any new toys for about a month (which Burger is very upset about, as she usually gets a new toy a least once a week) I am concerned that he may be alergic to something outside. I don't think he feels sick, as he seems pretty happy about life in general. I'll have a chat to my vet (who is absolutley the BEST) tomorrow and see if he can change the antihistamine he is on, and also if I can get some ani-inflammtory medicine for Mr Mo Mo's. Thankyou all very much for your responses, they are very much appreciated - Mr Mo Mo's sends you all a special kiss
  2. Hi Pesephone, thankyou for your post :-) Nothing has changed for Emilio, other than he is now a man (so to speak) We have been to the vet, he is on antihistime (tablets), and has had a dose of Advocate as well. I am sre he is uncomfortable, poor Mr Mo Mo's.
  3. Hi All, I was hoping someone out there has any ideas on how to stop a dog licking his lips? Our boy Emilio has started licking his lips so much that they are becoming red raw, he has only started doing this recently (since he has had a grilfreind) and I am at a loss what to do (other than sit there and stop him from licking). More info on his lip licking antics:- Licks a different speeds depending on his mood, he is usually siting down when licking the most. At some stages he will rub his muzzle (usually just before and just after dinner) Emilio is one of our house dogs (7 ATM) he is the oldest male living in the house, one other of the 6 is a male puppy (6 months). His lip licking stated to become more of a problem after having his first stud (about 6 weeks ago) - his mistres is not one of the 6 others in the house. Any idea's would greatly appreciated.
  4. Hi all, Last weekend at Albury Burger and I attended the twightlight Obedience Trial (along with the rest of the family to watch as we were coming back from the Tumbarumba show) on Saturday night and journeyed back on Sunday morning for another go in the CCD class :-) On Saturday night Burger (Aust Ch Boxberry Sweet Surrender) decided that dropping was out of the question, so failed the HOL excercises, but she did manage to pass all the other excersises and ended with a score of 75/100 (which would have given her a qualifying certificate had she pass HOL) - anyway, we headed back on Sunday morning for another go and I am happy to report that Burger gained her 2nd qualifying certificate as well as a 3rd placing in the class. Burger is the first dog I have tried with Obedience - normally staying in the conformation arena. I am so happy with her performance, seeing neither of us have a clue what is going on half the time, it's like the blind leading the blind.
  5. Hello all, It is with great sadness we write the following, on Sunday the 22nd of March 2009 our beautiful boy Australian Grand Champion Belvurn Too Hot T'Handle (Imp UK) SOM - "Jamie" (AKA Phat Dog) made his journey to the rainbow bridge. In January this year Jamie was diagnosed with Haemangioma Sarcoma with a solid mass within the muscle of his left flank. Jamie was our one in a million dog, since his arrival in Sydney Australia on the 9th of September 1999 he was everything we could have asked for and more. He excelled in the ring and as a producer. From winning Best In Shows to producing Best In Show winners, he was admired by many across the globe. His tally of Champions thus far includes 13 Australian Champions and 5 overseas Champions, including his Multi Champion - Australian, English & Irish Champion Kirkgate Stand By Me At Belvern (Imp Aust) 'Chip' who is the only Boxer to hold this title combination. Aside from being a super show dog & producer he was our best friend. To us he won't be remembered for all his accolades, we will remember him for his beautiful nature and fun loving attitude towards life. There are so many things we could say about our Phat Dog but a few of our favourite memories of Jamie include him sitting next to us putting his paw/s up for a belly rub, when arriving home Jamie finding his favourite toy (a blue Cuz) walking around the house kidney beaning with the Cuz in his mouth trying to bark, nudging us with his velvety soft muzzle telling us it was time for a cuddle. His patience with puppies and beautiful manners with family, friends & visitors, Jamie was a absolute joy to share our lives with. We would like to sincerely thank Vicky Bell of Belvurn Boxers (now Surfstone) for sending us Jamie, our lives have been changed forever and we feel very privileged and honoured to have had the pleasure of owning such a wonderful example of the Boxer breed. Although Jamie lives on today throughout the world via his progeny, we feel his loss is the end of an era. RIP our beautiful Phat dog, we love you and miss you very very much.........

  8. I agree with Clyde. One of our Boxers had what seemed to be a growth on his jaw when he was 5 (next to his bottom canine) many opinions x-rays and a biopsy later I had two different opinions and a thrid which explained the two. The first opinion was I should have part of his jaw removed to be on the safe side - this wasn't a pariculary attractive option to me. The second opinion was it was nothing remove the tooth and all will be fine. The third opinion was more an insight for why there was two totally differnt opinions - one being a pesimist the other an optimist. The decision I came to was to remove the tooth, and x-ray periodically to see if there was any changes. It all worked out for the best, the growth dissappeared once the tooth was removed, and the dog is sitting beside me as I speak :-) I hope things work out as well for you :-)
