So sorry Squiddy, may he rest in peace -
1. What is my relationship with the breed? (ie breeder, first time owner etc) I have had them as family pets since 1997 2. Where and why was the breed first developed? UK, first recognised in the 1920. A contest was held in to recreate the original spaniels seen in paintings of King Charles II by using Cocker Spaniels and King Charles Spaniels. 3. How common is it in Australia? Very 4. What is the average lifespan? 10-15 years. My first cavalier, Eddie, lived to be 13. 5. What is the general temperament/personality? Very outgoing, friendly, happy, tail always wagging. They can bark to alert you to strangers but once inside they would likely be hanging around a burglar looking for a pat. 6. How much daily exercise is needed for the average adult? Depends on the individual, they are happy with as much or as little as you can give. My Mums cav is happy to sleep all day and just run around the yard as exercise. My cav will do a 5km walk and still be leaping in the air and wanting to chase birds by the end. 7. Is it a breed that a first time dog owner could easily cope with? Yes 8. Can solo dogs of this breed easily occupy themselves for long periods? I wouldnt recommend if there will be noone home for 9 hours a day, 5 days a week, though my cousin has a cav and lives like that. Two together will keep each other company but they really are people dogs. 9. How much grooming is required? Can depend on the individual dog. Some will get a very thick, heavy coat and will be more prone to knotting, others will have a finer coat and need less. Either way a good brush a couple of times a week and keeping an eye out for matting behind the ears should keep on top of it. 10. Is it too boisterous for very small children or for infirm people (unless the dog is well trained)? Ive had little experience with this, Maggie has been very gentle with children she has met. 11. Are there any common hereditary problems a puppy buyer should be aware of? MVD, patellas, hips, eyes, SM

BMP - Wags has PM'd me saying that this supplier doesnt have the replacement eggs but she will try another. Mags is really really crazy for the eggs so Im going to get a new one with the toy and try to get some eggs as well
-
Ah yes Ive seen those ones on Pet network before too, I was after the egg babies in particular so I will order one from wags Just got to decide which one now, I already have the platypus so maybe something in a nice bright colour
-
Here is Mags with her favourite toy
-
Thats the exact one I have wags, Maggie loves it, well she LOVES the balls inside the most, hence why shes good at getting them out of the platypus I will PM you a few questions, I don't mind waiting a couple of weeks anyhow
-
Thanks, have no idea how that didnt come up when I searched
-
Maggies absolute favourite toy are THESE. I got it for her in LA in 2007 and its starting to look very worn and half the 'eggs' are lost. I have been searching everywhere online but it seems the only option is to have one shipped from there which will set me back at least $30 just in postage! Has anyone seen these for sale anywhere in Australia?

Spotty is right, you gave him so much more than so many other people wouldve, he got a chance to feel love and to be part of your family. RIP Roggie

Thank you everyone for your thoughts, Ratty is in a better place now and playing with her old friend Eddie He used to pee on her all the time, poor Ratty

Mum found you living in a styrofoam box in someones back yard and took you to live with Nanna. When Nanna had to go into a home you came back to us. You were a grumpy old lady, blind as a bat, Rocky won't go downstair to do his wee before bed without you. We took you to the vet today because you were acting abit strange, he said you had cancer of the liver. So you are gone now, I hope you arent feeling any pain anymore. Run free Ratty ;) RIP Ratty AKA Berty 1993 - 26th October 2007

AH thanks for that Harminee, Mags looks so cute in that shot, I just love it.

Ok I took your advice Harminee and I retried the pic of Mags. Heres the original And mine
-
THanks Harminee, that works :mad
-
Harminee - just a quick question, the picture tubes and frames available on the corel site for Paint Shop Pro, they all are for versions 8 and 9 or lower, and I have 10. Do you know if they will work?
-
Thats ok, they are pretty similar looking
-
Thanks for the hints Harminee P.S. Thats Maggie too
-
Awww thanks Harminee, she looks so cute!
-
Something very modern and slick please Harminee ;)

Both my dogs love toys. They have a big basket full and during the day they will just wander over and grab one, usually to go and show the other one and then start a play fight over. Its very cute! Usually the ones the make noise or smell of food (kong etc) are the ones the like the most. Mag will chew absolutely anything I give her, Rocky likes certain toys (hes obsessed with ripping appart soft toys) but if he thinks Mag is getting something hes not he will chew it too.
