  1. what ? those little shows held on week days, where all the Judges rock up ? I also don't buy the line of it's the handler not the dog. If a dog is good enough it will win groups, full stop. I agree if a dog is good enough it will win groups but I also think that some dogs do win because of who is on the end of the lead. so there is more then one way to be a petrol champion imo, it's not just the people who title their dogs on 6 point challenges. It's a pity the system couldn't work and produce worthy dogs the way it should that GayleK put so well in her post, I just object to people thinking the only "bad' Grand Champion is the ones that got there on 6 point challenges.
  2. So I am curious as to what defines a petrol Champion/Grand Champion? Do we just assume that those that cannot win groups are running all over looking for easy wins? There are people who compete only in the Metro always and have very little competition, (or those that always win easily in their breed) but are unable to crack the groups, but they pick up their breed wins and therefor the 1000 points. Are these petrol Champions? What about those that have a huge amount of Runnerup in Group or runnerup in show wins? But they still get their 1000 points? Are they petrol champions? Would you call someone who say picks up approx 20pt breed wins and lots of RUBIG a petrol Champion? What about those that are now chasing the group wins to qualify for the new titles, they are the ones travelling all over the country side chasing judges and small shows to get the wins. Why are they not called petrol Champions? I dont understand why we are lumping everyone in the same box. I am all for bringing back the old rules of Grand Champion and bringing in a Supreme Champion.. it makes everyone happy, well almost.. there are always going to be those that just complain for the sake of it.
  3. Okay, shouldn't be offended by this statement but I am. We spend a great deal of time organising the set up of the rings each year. We often have exhibitors thank us for trying to find more room close to the ring for gazebos, but clearly we still aren't doing it right. The process is: the group with the biggest numbers is located on the side or far side of the showgrounds (from the office) to enable the exhibitors to be able to put up as many gazebos as possible. Last year we had group 3 with over 210 dogs and we could have just sandwiched it between group 2 with over 100 and group 4 with well over 100 and given exhibitors the width of one side of the ring as their space, instead we spread out the rings and put in walk ways so no matter which side you are on you can get to the office, toilets, showers etc. Also any especially large group is positioned on the end to try again to get more ringside space for gazebos. If people chose to put gazebos up in a way that was obstructing things, then the option was to speak to the show manager, who did in fact ask some people to move. Sorry, but I can't help other people getting in early and getting themselves a good spot. And if you couldn't get near to the ring, maybe that was because there were a lot of people there earlier than you. Of-course everyone knows how to do everything better, but no-one actually wants to be involved and actually DO the job. AND if as an exhibitor anyone had some constructive ideas about the ring layout, then I am more than sure that the committee or me, as the show secretary would have been very happy to go around and for the exhibitor/s to show us would he/she/they think might have worked better. If I sound pxxxed off, then that just reflects how I feel. We work extremely hard to try and put on decent shows, and maybe this comment was a throw away line, but I don't need people to not enter because they think the show isn't well run or that there isn't space. Personally, I work very long hours to try and put on a show with different judges, that is exhibitor friendly and that people want to attend! I guess become a member of the club and come to meetings if you really want to contribute! Really, there is no pleasing some exhibitors...even though we do bust our butts to do so!! Nadia Attridge Show Secretary Hmmm and this just makes me want to withdraw my entries... I dont think there is any need for this when you are trying to get more people to enter your shows... What Sandra777 said is correct, unless you are there very early you cant get near the rings and there are no walkways alloctated to get through the gazebos, the the people who double park around track and cant back trailers is just insane.... I dont think she was having a go at you, there is alot of work involved in a show, she was just stating reasons why she wouldnt go. No need to take it personally and tell the whole world about it Well, just as Sandra and you are entitled your opinion, so am I. If people want to level criticism in a open forum, rather than to the individual, then I am not sure why I am not supposed to reply in an open forum. Bottom-line, I am going to protect the work done by the very dedicated small team at Caboolture KC! I did state clearly too, that I am more than happy for people to approach me or one of the committee and we can work to make things better. Nadia Nadia, what has been said is not a personal attack on you or the club, the club (like all clubs) do they best they can to put on a show to please everybody, but this doesnt always happen. There are always going to be people who make the choice for whatever reason to not enter a show. Some it is the show set up, the grounds, the parking, the rings, the judges, the toilets !!! And with the cost of entries and fuel these days it is too easy to get picky. So maybe instead of being offended when people state reasons they dont want to enter a show, just sit back and acknowlegdge their reasons (think about whether their reasons are viable and improvements can be made) and leave it at that. I have gounds that I love to go to regardless of judges... just like people have grounds they hate going to. It is a personal choice. We are all adults and fellow showies, we shouldnt be going around attacking everyone and it doesnt matter who 'started it', we shouldnt be making it personal. And I will add that it is not always the clubs fault for problems at shows.. the majority of times it can be thoughtless or incosiderate competitors.

  5. blah blah blah... how many times have gone over and over this... what about the dogs that are shown and have bitches in season at HOME !!?? But still like to think every bitch he sees at a show is his for the taking, even if there is nothing in season around him. This is showing and this is a part of life and nature.. There are always excuses for losing or poor behaviour. Banning in season bitches from shows is not going to help these studdy dogs that have bitches at home. I show both males and females and I think that if you dont have enough bond with your male to get him to concentrate on you for a few minutes then there is no point in showing him at all. I know of males that misbehave because they can tell my bitch is due to come in 6 weeks before she does !!! So then what do I do? Not show her at all just in case a male cant control himself even when she is NOT in season but maybe due in the next few months ?? Come on people, stop making up excuses and just get out there and enjoy your dogs.
  6. Sorry - but I don't agree with your assumption that people with views that the Gr CH should be tougher are people with Gr CH - I don't own a GR CH or even an Ch yet (soon I hope) but believe that the current rules are better than the old ones. A Gr CH needs to have shown that it has beaten something. The requirement of four 25 point challenges makes sure that this has happened. Also - a Belgian Shepherd was BIS at an all breeds show here in SA last year - so it does happen. This breed regularly wins at Group level because it is a fantastic example of the breed. It will get its grand easily (it might have it already actually - I am unsure - it has enough group wins to qualify though). Good examples of rare breeds do win at group level here in SA on a regular basis. In terms of keeping people at shows - Dogzonline point score is doing that nicely . One Belgian Shepherd in one State. Name me the last Leonberger or Pharoah Hound. The Dogzonline point score is keeping the Grand Champions showing. Look at who leads each State and breed. Point score won't keep me showing but a change back in the GC conditions probably will. A Pharoah hound recently won BIS in QLD
  7. Yes and they are starting up Rally-O trials next year which are a form of Obedience... will they be added too?
  8. I love sweeps and always do them with my puppies
  9. My little girl Lani had her first weekend of shows in Minor and came away with some great wins! From 5 shows she placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Puppy Sweeps as well as being shortlisted for the other two. She was shortlisted for a couple of Minor in Groups as well. But her best wins were 2 x RUBCC and 1 x RUBOB (from and entry of 8 kelpies - 3 males and 5 females) and then topped it off with MINOR IN SHOW !!!
  10. My dogs have been on Black Hawk for 2 months now and I am very happy with it. And I have even got my housemate to start feeding it !!! This is amazing in itself as she is a big believer in Raw, but her young girl is a finicky eater and didnt like the raw, I said she could try some of my Black Hawk and Meg loves it! So she has even put her other two dogs on it as well because it has turned out to be more cost effective for her.
  11. It is interesting that you found the stewards rude... I have never found them to be so. I know most of the stewards and they are very efficient at getting everyone organised, even those who are in a bit of a flap and trying to get dogs groomed or those too busy talking to friends. Maybe it is because I have been to the Ekka so many times now that I know what is required and always let them know what dogs I have in upcoming classes and had helpers ready with my dogs. I think the stewards at the ekka do an awesome job!
  12. I think you were a bit ripped Smisch, you definately should have picked up at least 3rd in the Sweepies !!!
  13. My old girl Phoenix won Bitch Challenge (15pts) and Runnerup of Breed !!! This is the second time she has won this so I was very happy with the result she will be 8 in August.
  14. LOL I love showing the brown dogs in the rain ! Bring on the mud LOL the only thing I struggle with is because I freestand my dogs it is hard because the rain goes down theirs ears when they try looking up at me But they dont really care if they get wet. I think if they can run around and get feral in the rain at home, then they can do it at shows for me. I remember showing at Coffs a couple of years ago in inches of water and it splashing up on my dogs as we went around the ring.. they didnt care and you couldnt see they were muddy LOL
  15. To email the file the person will need something like a yahoo account which has unlimited file download it is a huge file and most emails like bigpong or optus wont be able to receive it.
  16. This is the link to her facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#!/pages/Lead-Me-On-bling-show-leads/186919294687986
  17. Lead Me On Bling leads is just a new company and she is thankfully based in Brisbane !!! I have a few of her leads and they are gorgeous and the paracord is VERY soft. And because I am a purple lover, she has just the right purple for me
  18. I am pretty happy with my Black Hawk so far. It is working really well for my puppy, the first food I have found that is not going straight through her. I am just about to get my second 20kg bag, but would probably have just enough to last another week. I have not had to feed less, I am still finding I feed the same as previous foods so far. So that means it feeds the 3 dogs for a month. Happy with that.
  19. I am with you Troy, I cant understand what the problem is if this is optional, you can either have the like button or not. Those of us that are happy to have it should not be penalised because of those that dont want it. I think it is an excellent idea.
  20. I think it is an excellent idea.. when will it start working ?
  21. I have been tracking this forum for a little while now and was very interested in the long term results people were getting. I have been having trouble finding a premium quality food for my dogs that I was happy with, both money wise and results on my dogs. I was hesitant to start Black Hawk as I find deliveries of goods can be so unreliable, and so is my memory for ordering LOL. But, the company seems to have everything under control and I have just been delivered my first order of Black Hawk, so I am very keen to start my dogs on this!
  22. I have to add that this boy has been rescored an A
  23. I am going. I dont think we will know numbers until we get there and get a catalogue
