  1. I usually have to do a double take when kelpies and labbies are babies... just to make sure which is which
  2. Am I going to have to check my car when I leave M'bah that weekend ???
  3. Too funny. Is that a lard ass sticking up in the air? That is seriously the cutest puppie do you mean his or the hippos ??? they both have lard asses !! No it looks like his little botbot is sticking up - like head down, bum in the air. i just had a closer look at the pic, he actually has his little left front arm around the hippo giving it cuddles :p so his front is higher than his butt.
  4. He is very hard to put down, snuggly little thing. It is so hard not to spoil him.
  5. Thanks Loraine, I really hope so. His mother has done me proud over the past 5 years.
  6. Yes, some can be quite chunky as babies... my last 2 litters were chunkers. But this guy really takes the cake, probably cause he was cooked so long (4 days overdue) and he has the whole milkbar to himself He is a total cutie though. Loves his cuddles and loves romping around on my bed, thinks he is the king up there ! that is also why he now has my hippo... he kept running over to it for cuddles and seeing if there was a milkbar there too when he couldnt find one he would just fall asleep on it.

  8. Yes, he looks very much like a baby wombat and a piglet ! he is a big boy His first show will be... Brunswick Valley weekend at Murwillumbah.. 17th, 18th and 19th July !! He will also be going to the Ekka !
  9. Its official ! For those of you that have not met him yet, this is my new boy Jasper. He is the only child of 'Buddy' CH KLA Rebels Beau and 'Phoenix' GR CH Suthenskys Satisfaction HT. He was born via caesar on 14th April and was a massive 570g. He is now 4 weeks old and getting up and about. My plans are to show him... Ive told him he will be my next Best in Show winning Grand Champion... now I just have to wait and see if he will live up to my expectations.
  10. I have heard that Oatmeal Shampoos can be very drying and should be used sparingly. Everyone else has made excellent suggestions. I have shorter coated dogs (never owned a long coat) but I found that Champion Tails Silver Highlights Shampoo or Laser lights (purple) shampoos to be excellent on the quality of coat. The great thing about these shampoos is they make whites whiter and colours deeper. I use it on my whippets, cattle dog and kelpies (blacks and chocs) and had fanstatic results. Plush Puppy Reviva Coat is excellent too.
  11. Basically I think you need to feed the best you can afford. Work out how much you are able to spend on feeding your dog and look at foods in that price range. Buying in bulk (20kg bags) is the best way to go, just make sure you store it in an airtight container. Work out how long that 20kg bag will last you, then work out how much that will cost per week, and put that away, then it will be easier when it comes to buying your next bag of food.
  12. Maybe you could have a look at this one... it is a good dry food and only about $76 per 15kg bag http://www.naturalbalance.net.au/products.php Ive also started my Kelpies on Enduro plus ($50 per 20kg bag) and I am very happy with the results so far.
  13. mine is SUTHENSKYS also DEWREGAL (cattle dogs and kelpies) MINYAKA (cattle dogs)
  14. There are definately worse foods than Pedigree Puppy !! and if you are a vegetarian and struggle with meat, then a dry food diet for your dog would be best for you. I know there are alot of raw food advocates out there that would carry on about you feeding a dry food diet, but it has to be what is best for you as well as the dog... I know many breeders that feed their dogs Cobber or Bonnie ! and their dogs are thriving on it. As the others have suggested, you can try gradually putting in better quality bikkies with the Pedigree ones as the pup grows, and you could also try some tinned sardines or mackeral (if you can stomach that), they are good for the pup and will help them eat. Even the occasional raw egg, and mix in any left over vegies ! Just one tip though, if your puppy hasnt eaten its dinner in 15 mins, just take it away and offer it at the next feeding time, please dont resort to handfeeding or adding yummy stuff to the bowl if the pup wont eat. That is a surefire way of producing a fussy puppy. Most of all, have fun with the pup, and it sounds like it is already on a better diet than it was!!!!
  15. Wylie... can you recommend anyone? I havent come across this before so dont really know any specialists Settrlvr.... thats not good news, the bitch is in partnership with me and was to be a breeding / show bitch... :D Skyehaven... that is a little more promising... but I will still get her checked out by specialist just in case !!

  17. Hi guys I have just had an email from one of my owners and she said her girl has just come into season again ! she is 12 months old and this is her 3rd season ! her first one was at 6 months, 2nd one was about 9 months and now again at 12 months. I have had a bitch who used to cycle every 4 months but this is a bit ridiculous. Has anyone had this before? Is there anything we can give her (preferable natural) to help settle down the seasons. She lives with another desexed bitch. the other 2 bitches in the litter came in about 6 to 7 months and one has come in now and the other due soon.
