What Age Do Medium Sized Dogs Become Fully Grown?
GoldenWei replied to GoldenGirl85's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Any idea how old that pic was from the RSPCA - ie. How long had he been in care? He has a full set of bottom teeth... but whether they are baby or adult I don't know, maybe someone else could guess that. At 5 months I would expect a mixture of baby and adult teeth, but his seem to be all the one size. His legs do seem longer now though - but it could be the camera angle, he appears to be quite puppyish in the RSPCA photo - his pasterns have straightened up too. -

Hard to tell... something you may not of checked, but did he have all of his adult teeth when you got him? Some adult teeth don't come in until after 5 months. -
Just another quick brag. My 11 month old golden Faith, Dykinta Secrets Safron had a fantastic day yesterday. She took out a 25 point BOB, followed up with a puppy in group and puppy in show!! She's now the No 1 DOL Rising star golden in Aust!!! and No. 9 Rising star gundog in NSW!!

Introducing "Faith" Dykinta Secrets Safron. Pic taken about a month ago. She is now 10 months old. While not getting many classes in group, she got her first points yesterday beating her grandmother Dykinta Take a Chance and getting RU BOB!!! She has had so far 7 Reserve Challenges, the first 2 coming from the Minor Puppy class, and now yesterday getting her first Challenge. If anything my handling has let her down but I think we are now working well together.

Slightly different, what about if your dogs breeder is the judge of general specials but not your group. Knowing that you may not get through to general specials but it is a possibility, would you enter the dog then? I had this situation recently, I have a neuter and his breeder was doing general specials, quite often there is only 1 or 2 neuters in the group, so him going through was a possibility. I didn't enter, but was wondering what others would do in this specific situation.

Breed numbers are up: http://oz.dogs.net.au/morissetkennelclub/uploads/documents/Morisset_Breed_Numbers_2012.pdf Phew, 10 goldens entered, should be ok to manage by myself, I was thinking that it would be only my two and someone else with 1 of each sex!
-
Looks like she mean't to say receipting late entries instead of receiving late entries.... considering I have my recepit though and mine must of only JUST (by a day or two) made it on time, I think she must of taken some late entries. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Morisset-And-District-All-Breeds-Kennel-Club-Inc/177423368959875

Thanks, just found the FB page.. didn't know they had one! Unbelievable, why say entries close on x date and will be strictly adhered to, and then say they are still receiving entries and that's why they haven't got a breed breakdown yet!
-
Hmmm, I'd be interested to know the breed breakdown as well, I forgot that we won't get numbers, I really need to know as if there aren't many of my breed I'll need to organise some help!

Does anyone have a catalogue for Gunnedah on the weekend. It doesn't matter what day. A friend asked me if I knew anyone with one so I could check something for her.

Nope I don't mind Valvasor is my girl's breeder and very proud of her, I also have a boy bred by Glemaray his hips scores came back a couple of months ago, total 13 which is good, under average. His temperament and intelligence is Amazing, I know I'm being a little bias but it is what he was bred for as he has many many siblings in QLD and NSW guide dog association. But we still have a ways to go with both my goldies. I too chose a boy first but i couldn't walk away from him. Was that scored by Dr Rawlinson, or the AVA? Not sure what is behind Valvasor, but I do know who they are. I know they have a bitch, about 18 months old, from my boys breeder. I don't really know them other than that. It's good that you have their support though, its something that I think is vital in all breeds really, but because they are such a popular breed, someone new entering the breed like yourself, and myself as well, really needs the support of experienced breeders to help make the right decisions :) Good luck with your girls test results.

Can't remember how long mine took, I don't remember it being a particularly long wait, and I got my first choice. That was 2 years ago in NSW and I am yet to breed my first litter. I assume you have a golden? If you don't mind me asking, who is she out of (PM me if you prefer)? I have just received back hip and elbow results for my golden boy, thankfully they were great results so I am very relieved. I agree, such a nervous wait.

Importing A Dog From New Zealand
GoldenWei replied to Topoftheheap's topic in General Dog Discussion
Should be less than $1000. A friend brought in a puppy last year and it was $700 in transport costs. A number of people on here have brought in puppies recently so I am sure someone will come along with first hand experience :) -
Do you get full refund on the subsequent bills for the follow ups on the same condition, after paying the excess on the first bill? I've never had to claim more than once on any codition, so far.... Yes. Full refund after you paid the excess on the first bill as it was the same condition.
-
Same, a few years ago I had to claim and it went over multiple bills. Claimed the first one, then for the subsequent ones just put the claim number on the 2nd, 3rd etc claims - so it was the same issue and therefore claim number.... pet plan paid them each as they received them.
