Sounds like so much fun. How long does it go for, I would love to come but may not be able to get there until closer to 6 or so.

Babies are mean't to be gangly. Henry was VERY gangly - he's a golden but it would be similar for labs. Henry at 5 months approx.. (sorry the photo is so small) Henry @ 15 months and still has maturing to do (and could probably do with slightly more weight) I expect that Henry won't finish maturing for another year or so. This is Henry's father: http://www.k9data.com/pedigree.asp?ID=277914 His mother is also fairly stocky. I also agree to look at dogs behind his mum and dad from the pedigrees, especially the 4 grand-parents.

Thanks Oakway, I don't really know the area at all but this should help the owner anyway.

I don't suppose there are any show training classes up there? Are there many show in the area, I would think not but thought I'd ask anyway. Also, can anyone recommend a good vet in the area? I have a puppy buyer who would like to show eventually, but probably not until he moves back to Brisbane which will be in a couple of years. I am happy for the pup to be shown, I actually suggested it to him as he's very nice and probably close to, if not the pick of the litter. (He's a shorthair wei and I am keeping a longhair male as well as a shorthair girl).

There is a breeder of beagles advertising on gumtree as a registered breeder - she also breeds crossbreeds. At one stage she did have a prefix as I was out there and saw the prefix on her wall. I doubt she is still registered but I could be wrong. She would be what I would class as a puppy farmer. I won't name names in public, but you can PM me if you wish.

Gorgeous babies Parkeyre - they look so sweet :) My babies are now 4.5 weeks - I have put up some stacked photo's on my website... most are a bit squirmy, but some are stacking nicely (as in steady!) http://wynwhisper.weebly.com/willows-litter-september-2012.html

Being A Breeder Can Be So Undignified.. Ugh
GoldenWei replied to indigirl's topic in Breeders Community
Not dogs, but I had one of my cats on my lap, purring his little head off and rubbing his head against me. He must of had a touch of the runs, he sneezed and I will leave it up to your imagination what came out the other end..... thankfully it only went on my arm!! -
thanks poppop. Not friends with him, but will send a friend request.

Hi all, I'm not entered, but was wondering if anyone had a breed breakdown for these shows? If so, How many goldens & weimaraners are entered on Sunday? Thanks

Awwww so gorgeous. We have a few lapping at the moment, I have to hold them up to do it, a couple would rather walk through it. They aren't doing too badly. Still not putting on huge amounts but I feel more comfortable that they aren't starving and if I need to I can wean them early. We are pooping and peeing by ourselves, walking ok but not for long before falling down. Eyes are mostly open. They are two weeks today. One boy and one girl have tripled their birth weight, another will probably have too by the next weigh in. Our weights are ranging from 1060 to 1250. Just the two under 1100g, one boy and one girl.

thx DB - will give that a go over the next few days, hopefully her milk won't dry up before they are 3 weeks or so.

Here is 6 of my 7 - the other shorthair girl decided she'd sleep for the first part of dinner.

awww AdoubleJ, your babies are gorgeous.... mine don't look as chubby as yours. Maybe one boy does lol. It's hard to tell with the longhairs as they are quite fluffy, the shorthairs don't look chunky, I think they look fine though and they are certainly up and moving around faster than then the longhairs. Don't think many of them will be over 1150 by Sunday (2 weeks) though.

Hi Dancinbcs. Willow is a picky eater, she has put on a couple of kilo's since giving birth, she's at about 25kg which for her is quite good as she isn't a big girl anyway, she's maintaining her weight. She is on anti-biotics due to her having we think a retained placenta (oxytocin injection didn't pass anything). She has had a slight temperature the last two times we took her into the vet. She had an ultrasound on Wed, her uterus isn't contracting as fast as the vets would like to see but nothing major. She has been scratching around a lot but in the last couple of days has been much better so I think the anti-biotics must be helping. I can only get her to eat two good meals of puppy food & mince a day, as well as goats milk first thing in the morning and last thing at night. She needs the nutrigel added to her food. She is getting nutrigel, usually a bit on her meals to entice her to eat them. She will eat half a dozen 2x2 biscuits over the course of the day. She is getting acidopholus (spelling?) yoghurt as well as protexin added to her meals. Puppies are getting yoghurt and protexin as well.... when they decide it tastes good, they spit it out at times. Puppies aren't crying at all, just making little sounds every so often. So as far as I can tell they are content. Only one girl has her eyes open, but the others aren't far behind. Most can stand, but not for long.

Hi All, First litter here and for the most part they are doing well. Today is day 12. All born were good weights for weimaraners weighing from 369g to 461g for the biggest boy. All have been gaining weight, however, I'm not sure how much they should be gaining each day. I was under the impression that it should be about 10% each day. So, for the biggest boy who is now 1080 grams, he should be gaining around 108g per day? Or is this not correct? A couple of them don't seem to be gaining weight as well as some others and I am wondering whether I should start to supplement some of them. As an example, in my litter of 7, in the last 24hrs 3 puppies gained greater than 70g overnight, three gained about 40g and the last boy gained only 11g. However, he gained 110g in the previous 24hrs. One boy is regularly gaining about 4% while most of the others are up around 7 to 8%. There are the odd gains of +10% every so often. The two girls are both now bigger than two of the boys, one of those boys being the second heaviest at birth. Weight wise they range from 950g to 1080g, so none are really too much bigger than the others, but just wondering if I am over-analysing things or whether I should supplement some - or should I try and feed them by spitting the litter in two and putting the smallest guys on first?

I was trying to find the same thing in NSW but couldn't find anything that stated a specific age. Have known of a couple of girls being bred at over 9 years of age!!!!

When Willow came into season and I couldn't fly up to QLD with her due to not being able to get time off, I had chilled semen sent down. She had 4 prog tests, the dog was collected first thing on the Tuesday morning (after a prog test Monday said Tuesday was the day) was put straight on a plane, I picked it up directly from the airport and she was inseminated (surgical) at about 3pm the same day. We only did the one, timing had to be perfect although we could of split the semen into two lots but chose just to do the one mating. She had 7 puppies, all very good weights last week. It's actually a good size for her lines as they don't usually have large litters. There was no stress on her, she woke up exceedingly well from the anesthetic (I was with her the whole time) and the cost was very comparable to having me fly up with her or even driving up and back. Collection, packaging and flight was about $389, the AI itself plus the 4 prog tests was about $350.

7 babies born, from 10:30pm last night until 8:30am ish this morning. 5 boys 2 girls. Mix of long and short.
-
Congrats BB/BBJ - Wow 9 babies for a cav!!! Sorry about the two that didn't make it Looks like miss Willow is next.... thought she was going to go last night, had some digging when I let her out, but she calmed down soon after. Went to bed, she was breathing quite heavily but not panting... she settled down again fairly quickly. She's pretty calm this morning, ate most of her breakfast. Pups are still very active.... she does have milk in her top nipples though, which are soooo small.
-
Wow Snofyre, she's big too!!
-
Pretty sure I can see 7 spines. There may be another one in there as well.
-
Good luck BB & Rosie, fingers crossed for a smooth whelping.
