Pet Plan. I have made a large claim (in the thousands) on it for one of my lot and it was covered, no questions asked. Was paid within the month too. All it cost me was $100 as the excess.

Yes, as long as you are a member of your canine controlling body..... and make sure you get her papers stamped as Neuter

Is It Normal For Golden Retrievers
GoldenWei replied to Odin-Genie's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Mine is not even three years yet. She's still a baby!! Why would she be going grey? yep, I first noticed the odd one on Phoenix prior to him being 12 months old. I also had a friend who had a grey hair in high school at the age of 18. -

Mine has it as well. Not sure if it's normal or not, I pluck them out and notice while the majority of the hair is black, the lower part of it is white.... I figure that is how they go grey lol -

A Small Brag, Well I Consider It A Big Brag!
GoldenWei replied to Fanuilos's topic in General Dog Discussion
Congrats on your wins, Thor and Inga are doing very well. I have the pleasure of knowing LMWS and her partner, and get to see these beautiful dogs run round the ring regularly. -
I take it you haven't owned a beagle before? Wait until she hits her teenage years, most beagles are rehomed between 6 months & 2 years of age. We are involved with beagle rescue, and if they aren't older - ie over 7, they are usaully 2 years and under. Our first foster beagle was 7 months old, I wanted to give him back after the first two days, lol. it was a huge learning curve. I couldn't imagine having had two of him for any length of time. We got through it, and subsequent fosters have been easier to handle, mostly because we know that if there is something in their reach they will destroy it. We have lost a shoe to one of the fosters, it was out of reach, but my golden got it down from a height the foster beagle couldn't reach and left it in the backyard for him to eat. Phoenix takes things and likes to hold them in his mouth, the beagle destroyed the shoe, all that was left was a sole.

Is Millie a puppy? If so I would concentrate on her for a while. I wouldn't get another puppy until after she is atleast 18 months old. An older dog with some training already done MAY be ok though. It would depend on the dog.

bugger, I got all excited cause I thought you had one for me

I did post this in the classifieds and in OT, but does anyone have a good quality show trolley that they would like to sell. I'm in Kurrajong and happy to pickup from Sydney shows, I also may be going to Newcastle in Sept and Canberra in Oct. Large enough for a wei/golden.

A good registered breeder should pick the puppy for you. Look for happy parents, or atleast a happy bitch if you can't view the dog. Stay away from shy bitches/dogs. Make sure the breeder does all necessary health tests, hips/elbows, hearts and eyes, and view copies of these health test results if possible.

Thank you so much Harminee for my portrait, it is so beautiful.

If you were in Sydney I'd help you in a heartbeat, I need all the practice I can get.

awwww, I'm sorry you are having a hard time with little Easton. I have an 8 month old LH Wei, she can be very hyper when she gets in the mood, but she has her down times. She isn't nearly as bad as what my goldie was as a puppy. I wanted to hand him back after a week..... of course it was one of those what have I done moments It really makes a difference having more than one dog. I'm not advocating you going out and getting another, but Willow has a lot of free play with Phoenix which tires her out. Having a large yard (3/4 of an acre) helps as well. I agree with what others have said though, obedience is very good, I'd try tracking, and, if you can find a place that does puppy agility go for it. He's too young for forced jumping, but if they have one with really low jumps, as in hardly off the ground, he'd be really good at it. I take Phoenix to agility and the owners breed GSP's, their dogs are very good at it and they start teaching the basics to them at a very young age.

Options For Leaving For 4 Weeks?
GoldenWei replied to Persian Spitz's topic in General Dog Discussion
Where abouts are you? I would definately NOT go with a vet. I did some work experience with a vet in western sydney that did boarding. While the dogs were looked after, they were in a tiny cage with no room to move most of the time, and just got an exercise and toilet break a couple of times a day. If your dog is only young, it's especially not a good option. -
This is very true.... however I have spent $6000 on one of my animals this year, and all I have ended up paying in total is $100 for the excess, yes I had to pay upfront, but I got most of it back. Even adding up the total I have paid in insurance for all my animals, it still hasn't amounted to $6000. In this case, I am EXTREMELY happy I took out insurance. As for the price of purebred puppies from registered ethical breeders. My first golden 16 years ago cost me $500 (limited register), the next, 12.5 years ago (main register), $650, my third, 3.5 years ago $950 (limited register - but he is now transferred to main as a neuter). My LH wei, $1400 main register show puppy. I'm looking at getting a main registered golden puppy in the next 6-12 months. I expect to pay over $1000. I don't know of any breeds that would be $500 or less these days. $800 probably would be a quite a few breeds out there.

Harminee these are gorgeous. I'd love for you to do two for me if possible, I'd be so grateful if you could. I'll find some photo's of my two dearly departed. Indy who I lost two weeks ago, as well as Sascha, who I lost 4 years ago.
-
That's good. I don't think I will be able to do all three at Hillsborough, unless I stay Fri and Sat nights, but I may do a token entry anyway for them all. Will definately be doing Hills, Ladies, Ku-Ring-Gai and the Xmas show though!

RIP Indy 20/01/1998 - 25/07/10 Two weeks ago I had to give Indy his wings. He had an Oral cancer that was very aggressive. The vets sliced it off as much as they could but within a week it had grown so much that it would of needed to be sliced off again within a week. He was a big beautiful boy, he had some discusting habits, and in his younger years he was a bit of a terror, but he ALWAYS had a smile on his face. He was always happy to see you and give you big cuddles and kisses. He is sadly missed by us all here. He is currently sitting up on the mantle piece watching over us with Sascha, his big sister, I know she is looking after him at the bridge.
