  1. I'm looking at getting a show trolley, but at the moment can't justify spending over $500 on one. I'd dearly love a well constructed second hand one in excellent condition, but they never come up lol. Vebopet has them on sale for $290. BUT are they any good? I don't want to get one if it falls apart with the first few uses, but because we now have a second show dog, we really need one and I don't think I can put it off for too much longer.... so... if there is anyone who has one, could you please tell me if it's worth it or should I save up for an OKS (or similar) one? This is what I am looking at getting: http://vebopet.rtrk.com.au/?scid=44213&amp...r_id=4587819106

  7. The schedule is up: http://www.sydneyroyal.com.au/2011DogScheduleWeb.pdf
  8. NSW Gazette not one until Feb. :D Yeah, I was a bit sad about that too! Oh well, there's a fair few between now and then though. I just feel bad for the Victorians who don't have any! TerraNik I did not think there was in in NSW until just before Christmas?? ;) ;) We have to get 64 points in before Wil succumbs. Mind you the way she races around she is like a puppy. There's a few in the Sydney area before XMAS, these are the ones I have entered: SUN 14th Nov - Campbelltown SAT - 27th NOV Hills District SUN - 5th DEC - Ladies KC SAT 18th DEC - DOGS NSW
  9. For the royals that are over a number of days, is it the same rules for age groups as normal, or does it go on the first day of the show? There is a lot of IF's here, but, IF for example the first day of the dog show is on the 14th, does your baby puppy have to be 6 months old to enter puppy on the day their breed is on, or do they have to be 6 months old by the 14th?
  10. It's called Canberra Boarding Kennel - I've just remembered. The owners are breeders of weimaraners, VERY good people, genuiene dog lovers. Highly recommanded. Mine will be going here if I ever need to board them..... and I live west of Sydney. ETA: I think Wendy was a member on here, syrinx I think is/was her dol name.
  11. I entered today.... have never been.... but..... what shopping???? Didn't know they had shopping there too.
  12. According to the long range rainfall prediction on SMH weather page... it's going to rain!
  13. I do understand about the xmas period, it's a lot easier to have extra time off over xmas, I guess you just need to make sure that it's not a xmas puppy for the kids, and by the sounds of it, it isn't. There are a lot of dumpings of dogs in pounds around the xmas period. I don't know much about GSD's. I do have a friend with one though, I think his is from Allendell, he shows him and he is a very nice looking dog, he does very well in the ring. You could also try contacting the German Shepherd Dog League. Or go to a few shows, there are a couple of smallish ones in Sydney this weekend at Erskine Park, get talking to some breeders, ask if they know of any good quality litters due soon. There are 80 puppy listings on DOL at the moment, if you can't find one in NSW, consider going interstate. It's not that hard to send a puppy interstate, and will only add an extra $100-$150 or so to the purchase. We are purchasing our next puppy from interstate. We have also purchased two kittens from Melbourne and sent them up here to Sydney.
  14. Phoenix got another 6 points this weekend, so he is now on 24...woohoo.
  15. We stayed in a B&B, it was quite nice, only problem is the yard is a shared yard, and the room we stayed in was quite small. It only just fit us an the dogs. The owners were really nice, they have two dogs of their own, and there is no problem with having the dogs in the room with you. It wasn't 5 star accommodation, but it did us for two nights. We were lucky as we were the only ones staying the first night, the second night two other couples were there, one had a young cavelier so didn't really use the yard at all. We only used it to toilet them and we also left them in the yard while we had breakfast... if we had of left them in the room who knows what they would of destroyed. ANZAC Park B&B. I think they have 3 or 4 rooms in total.
  16. When are you looking at booking them in? I personally know the owners of Canberra boarding kennels at Bywong. They are Weimaraner people. It's where we will be leaving ours if we had to leave them for some reason. Not sure if they take cats though.
  17. Hi W2. My old goldie girl was diagnosed with this at 6 years of age. I was lucky, I noticed symptons of refusing to eat very much, lethargy and weightloss, the symptons continued over a month, I initially thought it was old age starting to set in. She was my first dog other than the corgi cross we had when I was very little. I knew very little about dogs then. After I started worrying she was getting too skinny I took her to the vet, blood tests along with her symptons pointed to addison's, she went on meds and responded very quickly, within a day or so I had my "puppy" back, she started acting like she was a puppy again, massive change. She lived for another 6 years and was on medication for the rest of her life. She never had a crisis, had a couple of times where her medication had to be adjusted, but nothing I'd call a crisis. She died of cancer at 11.5yrs. Don't ever think they can't live normal lives. They can, you just need to be vigilant and watch for any of their symptons. With Sascha, as soon as she started losing her appetite again I knew her medication most likely needed adjusting.
  18. My goals for 2011: Title Willow (LH Wei). She'll be 12 months on the 3rd Dec. She already has her 100 pts, just need those last 25. Neuter Title Phoenix (Golden Ret), as of tonight he is on 18 points. Hopefully there will be a lot more neuter classes at shows for him to enter. While not showing, I'd like to get Phoenix's CCD as well. AND..... hopefully we will be adding a new show baby sometime soon.
  19. Dog CC BOB / int of breed Ambermist Optimum Velocity Bitch CC RUBOB Ch Ambermist Grace in Motion
  20. RIP Luna You were such a stunning girl, you will be greatly missed both in and out of the ring.
  21. Assuming all his paperwork is correct (and his is good enough for the ring), you can enter a 3 year old for the first time. I entered Phoenix's first show as a neuter at 3.5 I started showing Willow this year, I started her from a puppy, and while it didn't really matter if she mis-behaved in the ring as a baby (sat down, won't stay still etc), I have actually found it a lot easier to train Phoenix for the show ring. I had the advantage of having already trained him in obedience, so it was just a matter of moving his feet into position on the stand and making him stay in that position. I'd try and go to a few show training classes, maybe gets some help from border collie groomers, and thirdly, not sure how it works as I am only new to showing as well, but I think you'll need to make sure the dog in question is registered in your name or atleast co-owned in your name. If not, you'll need to get his owner to enter him in shows. I'm by no means an expect, only new to the ring myself. Be warned, it does get addictive.
  22. I've read your updates re Tango and Pepper.... I have a bit of a dallie weakness, they are a one day breed for me. Will you be taking on this little one as a new family member, or as a rescue meaning you will be finding him a new home. I honestly wouldn't be trying to integrate him into your pack on a permanent basis, yes you have done a fantastic job with Tango, but if it was me I think it would be too soon and may upset the apple cart, however having said that, I would seriously consider taking him in as a "rescue" and finding him an ideal home for him. By the sounds of it these people have no idea what a Dallie needs in terms of a forever home.... obviously you do.
  23. The site to go back and check this stuff on is the DogsACT site because you can be sure that is the officially approved version. DogsACT has a schedule with neuters listed for the Gundog Society Show. Ok cool. Thanks, thought I was going mad for a minute
  24. I entered both Willow and Phoenix. Phoenix is a Neuter, on the Oz entries website the schedule has class 18, but on the canberra carnival site posted it doesn't I assume the Canberra site is wrong?
