I cannot stress enough the importance of socialistion with pups of any breed. I have 3 Neos 1 male and 2 females. I take them with me everywhere where possible. You need to be firm with him but never agressive - loud No etc don't be afraid to chastise him with your voice. I agree with Toohey - get into either puppy preschool or to an obedience school asap. If he's not normally like that it could of been just a bit overwhelming with the new experience of the beach coupled with many new dogs - but this def needs to be addressedor you will end up with a 80kg odd wildchild lol

Thinking of you all - hoping for a positive ourcome for you all. -
Aaawwwww whats wrong with drool. we call it love lotion here lol but then again we have to expect it with our breed!! Sounds like an anxiety issue with ur dog though. I agree with short fun trips to get her used to being in the car and associating the car with fun. Good luck.

Here is their website Lablover www.k9centre.com I'm not interested in the guard dog training, just the obedience side of things

If they have heard any reports/recommendations about K9 Centre at Burpengary QLD. Thamks in advance :D

Does that include the extra premium for them being large dogs (or a "Special Breed" as they call it?) They have abolished the "special breed" inclusion

I have just got off the phone from them an I asked them heaps of questions. They have genuinally changed their policy due to a high volume of complaints from potential customers. HD is covered providing the dog has no signs of the condition prior to joining. In my personal case my puppies would be covered as there are no clinical signs of HD. If (god forbid) they started to display symptoms in say 12 months they would def be covered. There is also no extra fee for breed specific. My quote for 2 neapolitans is $75.91 per month full coverage for accident and illness. They are currently the only agency offering this policy. I'm sure the others will follow!!!!

I have just finished reading the policy disclosure - seems to be above board. Maybe they are finally listening to the customer????!!!

I really appreciate you sharing your story Panda. Yours isn't the only outcome like this that i've heard of. All too often you hear how these companies are quick to take your money, but its like pullin hens teeth to get anything back

Ashka I too have never had to spend excess amounts of money in the 20 odd years that i have had pets. What made me sit up and think about this was when i lost my Neo about 6 weeks ago. At first the vet and I discussed snake bite as a possibility for his sudden illness (wasn't snake bite but that's another story). She mentioned in that conversation that to treat him with anti-venom for a dog his size would be between $3000 - $5000 - with no guarantees. For something that can amount to the thousands so quickly - it makes you wonder if the insurance is warranted in these circumstances???
-
I think I'm going to go along the lines of a seperate bank a/c and take my chances without insurance. I read the policies of 2 different companies and then phoned each with questions pertaining to their policies. Very vague answers from both representatives. Though I must say that for accident and emergency it sounds ok. OMG I'm Sooooooo confused lol

Thanks everyone.....I might phone them and ask lots of questions!!!!
