  1. When Frozen Puppies dot com were in operation, you may remember a product they sold called 'Boost Up Ya Boys' to help with semen production. I need to increase semen concentration for freezing from an older dog. He was collected last week, twice and only managed to get 1 breeding unit from him. I'm going to go back and do it again, but I want to give him every chance to produce more. Does anyone know if this product is still available in any form or does anyone have any tips to boost up sperm concentration?
  2. Thanks Mjosa. I'll contact them.
  3. Hi Cass, I was just about to ask a similar question. My was more related to where is the best place to get semen collected and stored in Brisbane. I know the different places vary in price quite considerably. I was also wondering what company does the syndicate sharing of a canister going to Europe and are they still doing it. If you find out anything, can you please let me know too?
  4. I think it definately depends on the vet and their equipment. I had an ultrasound on my bitch at 31 days from first mating, they counted 6 and were very confident with their numbers. Sure enough 6 were whelped. I have referred friends there aswell and each time they have had an accurate count! Other people I know who have been to other vets have had inaccurate counts.
  5. For a beginner the most important thing I have found is to watch the classes being judged before you (if your not first breed on) to find out how the judge is judging. You can mentally prepare yourself for where you are going to stack up in the ring, if you are going to do a lap before stacking or if the judge wants you to go in and stack straight up. Groom your dog the best you can, handle with half a clue and present your dog and yourself with confidence. Confidence goes a long way, even if you dont feel confident, look confident. Dont fidget, dress nice and learn as you go. Good luck.
  6. I agree with Karen on the temp dropping only for a few hours and it can happen in the middle of the night when your not taking her temp only to go back up by morning. Lady's dropped at 10:30pm, well after the normal time I was taking it. I only stayed up with her that night and re took it because she started to get restless and was panting heavily. It was almost like she went into labour an hour or two before the temp drop. Other bitches I have had part of whelping have had the temp drop around the same time as onset of 1st stage labour. Keep your eye on a drop below 37 deg. Anything higher than that and I wouldnt get too excited.
  7. Wow a clinic that actually reads them right there and then! I'm impressed! Whilst the cost is a little higher, the service sounds great! I wish I lived in SA. Out of interest, how were the scores?
  8. I hate to break this to you Mystiqview, but you kinda already have Pepe is going to be a star!
  9. Thats hilarious! Thanks for the laugh My dogs are not so fussy, but my boy does need a good gee up to get going if he has already had a mating with the bitch. First time he is all over it, but he looses interest for subsequent matings. I guess he feels his job is already done. :D
  10. Yep! They cancelled my order too. Bummer
  11. Its my understanding that the knuckles enlarge when the pups are getting too good a diet. The advice given to me was to put the pups on an adult diet. It worked.
  12. Our uneven nipples skip a generation here 9, 10, 9, 10. I guess the next will be 9 I've bought in a new bitch line where I have bonus nipples now, sharing the one boob, he dam is the same. Got to love getting bonus bits! Got a bonus tooth too.
  13. Vaccines are developed by a couple of different methods. An inactivated virus where the virus has been cultured and inactivated is the most common way of making vaccines. Animals like humans sometimes have the inability to convert this virus to immunity. It is very rare that a human or dog can not convert immunity to every disease unless they are immunocompromised, but it is quite common for an animal or human to not convert to one disease.
  14. Great! Not for me, all my dogs are done for the moment. I'll let my friend know though. Cheers
