Border Terrier Attacked By Three Staffies In The Uk
mantis replied to Her Majesty Dogmad's topic in In The News
You are expecting a bit much. -
Again, I think people can be too picky. They are only small, honestly, I can't see them growing much. The poor OP needs help and needs it badly. Not much time left. Say what? They could end up 6 foot, imagine how much you will have to spend on food.

I wish I had photos of all the damage Kenny did, 2 couches, 1 futon bed, 3 doonas & numerous pillows, cushions & items of clothing. I still loved him.
-
Geeze Greymate, you are sounding like the "Grim Reaper".
-
DD don't do it, dogs love nannas. Kirislin, as others have said she is healthy, sending you positive vibes & hugs.

Cougar doesn't really like dry food, She loves her chicken frame in the morning & her BARF at night, but I always have dried food in her bowl in case she wants a snack. She comes up to me looking for a treat, but if she's already had a couple, I won't give her anymore. So she goes to her bowl, looks at it & then looks at me, like really, you expect me to eat this? She will have a couple of pieces, then walks away. with a disgruntled look on her face.

Agree, I have only ever owned brindles, they are beautiful.

I'd say the police officer who made up the joke, wasn't part of the dog unit.... & didn't happen to know that Peach was a girl. Who could blame him, most police dogs seem to be blokes with names like Thunder or Thor. I still say he should get a promotion. So funny! Apart from Peach being an 'unusual' name for a police dog, what about her sister 'Petal'. Imagine being a police dog handler & having to say to a hardened cirminal, 'Stop or I'll release Petal!' This is what happens, when you let children name dogs.

I thought we were rid of this attention whore. This story is closing the barn door, after the horse has bolted though. It reminds me how St Bernard's popularity dropped after the movie Cujo, yet they became popular again after Beethoven.

I struggle to make my own food, but can always make my dogs food. My kids get angry with me, because they say I feed my dog better than myself.

As I posted earlier, I had severe cataracts, after surgery my eyesight is fantastic, can't see why it would be any different with dogs.
-
HA HA I never thought of that, poor little buggers.
-
My surgeon said they just remove the lens & scrape all the muck off & put the lens back, never mentioned a replacement lens.
-
Happy I didn't get shaved or have to wear an Elizabethan collar.
-
Silly me, fancy thinking a news article was accurate.
-
Yep mine are exactly the same - I work from home and have actually taken photos every hour on the hour one day to prove our little they moved  . I have one who regularly chooses to sleep in the crate rather than on the lounge  Cougar doesn't have a crate, but she hardly ever moves. Lies underneath my computer table when I'm using it, or lies on the couch when I'm watching TV. Not sure she'd handle a crate, unless it was placed right next to me.

"Does have problems with peeing directly in the toilet" Well that does it, can't be bothered with toilet training again, so sorry I'm out.
-
Unfortunately juvenile cataract is a genetic condition present in a couple of breeds. Thanks, I didn't know that.
-
Wow, that is young to have cataracts. I can only speak from human terms, I was almost blind 3 years ago with cataracts, I had the surgery, one eye at a time & it was done in the morning & I was home a few hours later, I had to put drops in my eye for awhile. Now I don't even need glasses. I was told that constant exposure to the sun without wearing appropriate sunglasses caused it. That's why I'm amazed that such a young pup has it.

Although i agree you can never care too much, you can definitely over do things, and be over protective and be over cautious. Both with dogs and kids for that matter. Unfortunately it's a product of today's society, and the fact that all we hear all day and all we read all day is about just how dangerous everything in the big bad world is. Personally i would've loved to be around many years back when due to a lack of media scare mongering, people where a little more care free. I absolutely hate that as a society we are scared sh!tless of living!! - Excuse the language. People call me nuts, because i let my kids play outside every evening after they've done their homework and they don't come back in till it's dark. In the suburbs!! i also don't wrap my dog in cotton wool, and let hime be a dog. Yes i make sure he has the best food, and best bed, but if he wants to climb the cubby house, or roll in the mud, or play in the rain on a cold day, or sprint around the backyard on hot day, then so be it. He'll quickly learn that doing some of that doesn't make sense. Bit of a rant, but long story short, you can never care too much, but my God do we (today's society) overdo things! Sorry I disagree. My dogs weigh 2kg I have to overdo it and wrap them in cotton wool as you might call it, I'm okay with that. I cant for a minute just think it's ok for them to be left outside they are a target for theives and larger animals. The one time I let my guard down and let a child hold my puppy she got dropped and both her front legs broken requiring expensive surgery. Sure they are dogs, but they are high risk for injury and theft. They need boundaries and me to be overprotective for their one safety. The big bad world is stressful when you're leeeetle. They are much happier in an environment they feel safe and they still get their fun time (beach trips, lunches at cafes, parks etc) but it's under a controlled environment. Too much risk in today's society, too many off lead dog attacks (would kill mine instantly), too many thefts from backyards and im trying to eliminate some where I can :) Agree Donatella, except I had a 45kg dog & now a 16kg dog, who thanks to the media are at risk. I have to be over cautious, because I won't put them at risk. I love my dogs & go Bombers.
-
People with on lead dogs should be able to walk anywhere, or at anytime, except off lead areas of course. It annoyed the hell out of me, that I could only walk Kenny after 11pm, just so I didn't run into an irresponsible owner, who only thinks about them & their dog.

That's hilarious, what I find even funnier is a male German Shepherd Police dog called Peach. My girl is called Cougar, I think they should switch names.
-
Roo looks so at peace with the world.

I would save my child first, but then would risk my life to save my dog. When my rental property caught fire a few years ago, when I rang 000, they told me to get out of the house straight away, told them I had to get my dog first, they said forget the dog, like I would do that.

I love Footscray. How come you don't own a Bulldog?
