Pet Rescue. There certainly is evidence for breed-specific behaviour, people. It doesn't serve anyone to deny it. Which is not to say BSL is evidence-based in the slightest. I have owned, bred & shown dogs for over 50 years & I am sick to death of humans blaming dogs instead of owners.

that is certainly devotion! The devotion & unconditional love are what dogs give us, our repayment for that is to take care of them & ensure they have a happy life. On the couch issue, when I had Kenny he had the couch, I had a chair, people used to shake their heads about that. The only time Kenny didn't have the couch was when I had more than one visitor & boy, didn't Kenny grumble when he had to lie on his bed instead.

When I had Kenny, I had to rent dumps of houses yet still had to pay top dollar, because they were the only places that would allow dogs, it used up my small amount of super. Now I have Cougar & am lucky enough to live in a cheap unit. 3 months ago I broke 2 of my fingers in a fall, the Doctor said he would have to put pins in them so they healed straight, but that would have required a stay in hospital. There would have been no one to look after Cougar, so I refused. Now I have 2 crooked fingers on my left hand, with limited use because I can't bend them properly. My dogs ALWAYS come first. :laugh:

They can't use computers, but a morning lick & cuddle from them is all they need to do. Yes, those of us who are mothers of two legged kids as well, will be spending the day with them & loving it, when we get home, our four legged kids will be there to cuddle up to us. Happy Mothers Day to all.

No. Learning needs to start in the home. Unfortunately Rozzie that doesn't always happen, otherwise there would be no idiot owners, or children being bitten.

Unfortunately there is no revenue in it for the TV stations, so it won't happen.

WOW that is fantastic, I didn't know this was happening. Hopefully there will be far less children getting bitten. Now they just need to bring in a program to educate irresponsible owners. :laugh:

I was walking my girl on monday & there were two boys 6 & 8 who's Mum was visiting one of the the neighbours in my block of units. They saw Cougar & the younger boy went to pat her on the head, the older brother knocked his hand away & said you don't pat a strange dog on the head & showed him how to hold his hand out in front of the dog's face to let it sniff. I was gobsmacked, because not many kids these days are taught how to interact with dogs. After the initial sniffing, Cougar sat there quietly, while they cuddled & kissed her. Wish all parents taught their children about how to approach strange dogs.

Agree. Sadly some people at shows seems to think that it is ok for their little dogs to behave badly. If it happens at dog shows, the organisers should be held to account and made to educate owners to control their dogs, big or small. Report to council or get a hose. True to an extent. Onlookers are to blame as well. People laugh when they see Myrtie going off her head. I tell them they wouldn't be laughing if she was a Rottweiler. Myrtie is very quickly brought under control, I have to say. As the owner of small dogs and fluffy ones at that, I really do get heartily sick and tired about people talking about yappy small fluffies and bad tempered Chihuahuas. I guess I was spoilt by my first dogs, Maltese, being really laid back and happy dogs. The only thing that ever worried me about letting them off in off leash areas was their size and consequent vulnerability. I currently have a tiny little dog who is highly reactive and sadly has made my walks not as enjoyable as they used to be. However, I work with her constantly, distracting her with treats when we see other dogs and she is not nearly as bad as she used to be. HOWEVER !! LOL. There are a couple of people who walk their large and highly reactive dogs around the neighbourhood and seem determined to "practise" on me. So there I'll be, happily walking up to 5 dogs all under control and along comes one of these people with their dog going nuts, so mine get stirred up naturally and when we have pandemonium with me walking as quickly as possible to get away from them, the big dog will be put in a sit and made to look at mine. I have told these people to, please, keep walking, but they say they have to train their dogs. One man actually puts his dog in a sit and then crouches down and cuddles it while it is slavering and trying to get to mine. I understand how really really annoying it is for big dog owners who have dogs with perfect behaviour to be assaulted by little dogs, but folks, it works both ways. DD, that was the point I was trying to make.

People, it isn't a small dog, big dog issue, it's the morons who own them & unfortunately the dogs are the one's who suffer.

Jed, when I started this thread, I didn't want want to post your username, in case you were unhappy about the thread & people knowing who you were. It's so wonderful you got through that horrid experience & are still looking after dogs & enjoying life, as hard as it was for you after that tragedy. Sorry to here about Chi, she was a real fighter.

RIP Magnus, I know you & Kenny are having fun with all the other much loved dogs.

See, as much as I hate it when idiots let their little dogs attack bigger dogs, I can't punish the dog, it's not their fault they have an idiot for an owner. Same as idiot owners of big dogs, who think they are tough having a big aggressive dog. It's always the dogs that suffer.

How about adding carbs to their diet, like rice or potatoes.

Threaten to make little dog airborne. My guess the owners will suddenly lose their sense of humour. But then you are punishing the poor dog, I'd rather make the owner airborne.

I thought it was a new episode, using old stories. I'm not sure, but I think this happened about 4 or 5 years ago.

It annoys the hell out of me, when small dog owners think it's funny that their dog gets in the face of a big dog. They are so stupid that they don't realise their little dog could get hurt or die, if the big dog reacts. Worse thing is that the big dog will get the blame.

It made me cry, especially knowing it was about a long time Doler. Brought back a lot of sad memories, I'm feeling for her so such tonight, knowing how I feel & she must be feeling a hell of a lot worse. Lots of hugs & kisses Jane.

They don't use hormones these days .... Actually, I should have said it was about 15 years ago, plus it was animal grade mince, which I wouldn't buy now. Still only feed chicken frames or wings though, it really stressed me out watching such a strong healthy dog suddenly get tremors. I'd rather be sure than sorry.
